Hope was dozing off in her bed, with the afternoon sun shining through her window onto her. It felt nice, but Hope had to admit, the brightness started hurting her eyes. Being too lazy to get up and close the curtains, she merely turned her back to it.

She nearly screamed when she saw Josie standing there.

"What are you doing here?" Hope's heart was pounding after the siphoner's sudden appearance.

"I used astral projection to come check on you," Josie casually laid down next to Hope. "I was worried since you never called me and you weren't answering my texts."

"Yeah, my mom sort of grounded me for the week and took my phone," she explained.

"It's a good thing I'm a witch then," Josie smiled the cutest smile.

They laid there on Hope's bed, smiling at each other like idiots until a thought popped into Hope's head, making her frown.

"What 's wrong?" Josie looked at her worriedly.

"My dad actually showed up. I didn't think he would, but he did," Hope shared.

"That's good, isn't it?" Josie's eyebrows knitted in confusion. "You've cried to me before about how your dad never visited, sent letters, answered phone calls."

"I thought that's what I wanted, maybe I still want that, but definitely not under these circumstances," she sighed. "He says he wants to fix things, but I don't know if I can believe that."

They were interrupted by the sound of breaking glass.

"What was that?" Josie looked over her shoulder in concern.

"Whenever my mom and dad are in the same place, there's fighting," Hope explained, slightly embarrassed.

They both sat quietly, listening in on Hayley and Klaus' argument.

"The school suspended her for violence and misuse of her powers, Klaus," Hayley spoke. "And I'm right with them, so I grounded her."

"I happen to believe she was justified in her actions," Klaus countered.

"Of course you think that!"

"What is that supposed to mean?"

"It means she's growing up to be just like you!"

"Did you ever ask her why, Hayley?" Klaus furiously questioned. "She did it to protect a girl that she's clearly very fond of. Hope's not like me, she's better. She has a good heart."

Both Hope and Josie were blushing at this point.

"Having parents that aren't together, am I right?" Josie joked to ease the tension.

"You don't know the half of it."

"Well, you've heard about my pretty complicated family. So, try me."
