Kevin's left leg bounced up and down repeatedly, keeping his eyes glued to the floor. The sun had risen a few hours ago as it was now eight in the morning.
"Kay bro calm down. You making me nervous." Dougie said.
"How the fuck can I calm down bro? I'm trying, but ion think I'm going to be happy by the end of the day. She been in there for hours." He got up and began pacing around the room, a routine he's been keeping up with for the last hour. His mind was all over the place and he couldn't seem to calm down.
"Don't talk like that. If she wasn't doing any better we would've heard something by now." Ari's mom said lowly, rubbing a sleeping Kimora's back.
"Kevin baby how about you go get her some flowers?" Kay's mom suggested.
"Ma I'm not worried about flowers right now. I just wanna know if she good." His voice cracked.
"Family of Ariana Benard." A doctor finally came into the waiting room, making all their heads look up.
"How is she?" Kay asked walking up to the doctor as they collectively crowded behind him.
"She's fine. We had to do a c section. She did end up passing out a few times as we were in the middle of the operation. We're still trying to figure out why. She's fine now though, we have her on IV."
"And the baby?" He said as his shoulder remained tense.
"The c section was successful. The baby's weight is also normal, everything seems fine. We will be running some test just incase. It wasn't easy at all but we got the job done."
"I told you." Dougie said patting Kay's back in reassurance. He ignored him and cleared his throat, looking at the doctor.
"Can I see her?" His deep voice echoed in the room.
"Of course. I just want to tell you that her body probably would be super sensitive. I recommend her staying in the hospital maybe for 2 more days and once she's discharged it's crucial she stays in bed rest."
"I gotchu." He said not really listening, eager to see his fiance. "I could see her now?"
"Yeah. She's asking for her fiance? I would assume that's you." The doctor said. Kay nodded impatiently. He led the way over to the delivery section, walking down the long aisle until they stopped at room 216. The doctor opened the door for him and Kevin wasted no time walking in seeing nurses hoarding over the bed, not even being able to see Ari.
He stood there with a confused look on his face, waiting for them to clear out. Unexpectedly when the two locked eyes, she smiled at him.
"Kay come, She's so pretty!" Ariana laid in the bed with a baby resting in her arms, wrapped in a white and pink blanket. The nurses smiled at him, moving complete out the way to give him space to walk through. Fear left his body and was quickly replaced with happiness.
"Another girl? That's crazy." He smiled, walking over to her. Even though he wanted a boy, he didn't care what he got as long as the child was healthy. He kissed Ariana's forehead, thanking God he was able to kiss her again.
"You scared me ma." He said against her forehead, kissing her again.
"I'm fine Kay." She said giving him a weak smile. She was exhausted, he could see it all in her face. "She's so pretty." Ariana cooed. "Wanna hold her?" She offered. Kay gently took the baby in his arms, admiring every small feature on her. The baby shocked the both of them as she resembled Ariana. She had her nose, eyes, and overall face shape.
"Nah this shit is real. She beautiful bro." Kay said holding the tiny being in his toned arms.
"I know..." She said admiring him as he held their child. His eyes were filled with amazement as he looked down at her. Him already being a father was a blessing but to hold his child as she was just born felt like the biggest blessing ever.
Ari noticed his arm slightly trembling, she figured he was nervous. "Baby calm down." She chuckled, holding her arm out so she could take her.
"I'm calm. This shit just feel new. You know I wasn't there for Kimora so this shit feel fresh." He said placing the baby in her arms, keeping his eyes on her. She nodded, letting him know she understood.
"You good? They said I couldn't be in the room." Kay spoke up.
"I feel fine." She shrugged. "In pain but it's manageable."
"How bad the pain?" He said rubbing her forehead with his thumb.
"It's bad but it's better then earlier, but they said that's normal. I'm just happy I'm alive and so is our baby." She spoke, keeping her eyes on the baby.
Kay couldn't do anything but smile at the last sentence. Today could've went really bad for him or either really good for him. He looked down at the now sleeping baby, humming lowly in her ear. After a while the nurse took the baby and placed her in the bassinet.
"I know you wanted braids down to your ass when you had the baby but red hair look good on you ma." He said kissing her forehead.
"Kay stop, I look a mess right now." She said blushing despite being in pain and feeling her ugliest.
"Word to my deads you don't. You so beautiful Ari. Real shit." He said stroking her hair, admiring her. "After having my daughter and all."
The sound of the door opening made the both of them snap their gaze to the door. "I don't mean to bother, but we need the name to print out the birth certificate." A nurse said coming in, making the couple look at each other.
"Kennedy Marie Perez" Kevin said. Ari eyed him and he smiled at her in return. The nurse quickly nodded and stepped back out making Ari clear her throat.
"When did we agree on that?"
"It's been on my mind for a minute. You don't fuck with it?"
"Luckily I do. Why Kennedy though?" Their brown eyes meeting each other.
"Kennedy just a pretty name. It's no deep meaning behind it. She just pretty, the name suit her." He said smiling as he hovered over her.
"Oh my god! A girl!" Gisselle semi-screamed as she peaked through the door. Ari hissed as she tried to sit up, Kay took Kennedy from her arms, placing her in the bassinet.
"Yesss doesn't she look like me?" Ari dragged out as Dougie walked in behind Giselle.
"Just like you. She's so pretty. Do you guys want me to wake Kimora?" Giselle said.
"No it's fine. She's about to be mad as hell anyways." Kay answered.
"Nigga meant to be a girl dad." Dougie joked.
"I think I am at this point. Fuck it." He shrugged.
"2 Beautiful babies." Giselle fanned her eyes. "Y'all are so blessed foreal."
"I appreciate you. The both of y'all." Kay truthfully said, dapping up Dougie and then pulling Giselle in for a hug. He was going crazy not too long ago and them plus his brother were the first to call.
Kay stood by her as each and every one of their friends and family members came in to see Ari and the baby. After about a hour, he could tell she was getting tired and so was he, so he concluded the visiting and walked them out.
With it only being them two and their newborn daughter, the room was quiet now. Kennedy was sleep in the bassinet, and Kay was seated next to the hospital bed. His thumb went over her hand continuously, watching Kennedy's steady breathing.
"Ma?" His deep voice sounded, breaking the silence.
"Yeah?" Ari said turning to lock eyes with him.
"Sorry for that argument. We probably wouldn't be here if I ain't do all of that. Feel like I been stressing you out for majority of your pregnancy. My fault for all of that."
"Baby don't say that." Ari sighed.
"Nah cause we supposed to get married in just 2 months and I be on some toxic shit. Ion want us acting like this when we married." He admitted,
"That's fair. But you're an amazing partner despite your craziness."
"It don't be feeling like it these past couple of months. I'll make it up to you baby girl." He said before the couple shared a kiss.
"I need some rest." Ari said yawning. He quickly stood up, fluffing up her pillows to help her get comfortable. "Thank you." She said lowly before her eyes slowly shut.
