Asch wasn't prepared to face reality. He liked being in a place where he could forget about the struggles on Daemos and his fate, whether he failed his mission on Earth or not. That place for him wasn't necessarily on Earth. That place was anywhere with his significant other, (Y/n), the human that he had fallen head over heels for.

With them, he didn't have to be the fearsome prince of anything. He could just be Asch, a lovable, determined, and hot-headed tsundere. The man that (Y/n) lived with all of their heart. For the first time in his life, he felt true happiness. But this feeling didn't always come easily.

He had just gotten out of a rather aggressive argument with Rhys and he was fuming. He forced his knights to leave him in his throne room in peace, but Rhys' words still picked at his brain. They couldn't stay on Earth forever. One way or another, they would need to return to Daemos. Someday, probably soon, he'd be forced away from the feeling of joy. He'd be forced out of the arms of his love, and he absolutely despised the idea of it alone.

His knuckles went white from his grip on the arms of the throne, flames lighting a circle around him and growing, fueled by his incessant rage. Pierce, knowing that the best and probably only person who could resolve this situation was (Y/n), brought them to the throne room and asked for their assistance, to which they agreed without hesitation.

"Asch..." They hummed out, making their way to him across the room. Asch's eyes opened and he gazed at their smaller frame.

Normally, seeing them have him butterflies, and he'd just stare at them and smile like an idiot. But this time, all he could think of was the idea of losing them, and his rage acted as gasoline for the flames. The circle grew further around him, forcing (Y/n) to stand back, unable to reach him. They took a deep breath in an attempt to steady themself, speaking again.

        "Asch, please."

His onyx eyes stared at them through the flames, at their concerned expression and quivering figure and he could only get angrier yet. He couldn't seem to grab a hold of himself as the flames leaked closer to (Y/n), burning their outstretched hand.

They winced and drew back, but their pleading eyes persisted, staring through the flames into Asch's soul, as guarded as it was.

"J-Just focus on me, Asch." Their voice was nearing a hiss, but they stood strong, their gaze unfaltering. "W-We can talk, please just l-let me help you. We can watch Socky and c-calm down, okay? Just please... let me through..."

He looked at them, their sad expression and shaking form, their desperation-filled eyes and the burn on their hand. And it was all his fault.

His flames disappeared in an instant, like a strong gust of wind rushed over them and knocked them out with ease. He rose from his throne, sauntered over to his love, and embraced them, his head resting over theirs.

"I'm sorry, Pet." He mumbled after a moment of soothing silence passed between them. One of their hands moved up to his head, where they comfortingly massaged the area around the base of his horns.

"It's okay, my firecracker." They pulled back, holding his face in their hands, staring into his dark eyes. He didn't need to say a word, but they knew that he both wanted and so badly needed their affection and consolation.

So they traced circles around the base of his horn and on the ring around it, all the while pressing light kisses to his face; his forehead, his cheeks, his nose, and finally, his lips.

Pierce and Rhys stood by the doorway, watching the display of affection. Pierce turned to Rhys.

"You can't take them away from him, Rhys." He stated, matter-of-factly. "He needs them."

Rhys nodded, watching the stress wear from Asch's body in (Y/n) arms. "You're right." He says, looking down to the floor. "And I'd be no good advisor to take that away from him." He turns to Pierce, a small smile present on his lips. "I'll arrange to keep us on E-urth... for quite awhile I'm sure."

Pierce only nods, and with that, the two leave the couple to stand happily in each other's arms, their worlds at peace.
