Narrator:
Two shadows sprinted through the trees bordering the silver stream that reflected the moonlight above.
A young daemos girl sprinted ahead as a slightly older male raced after trying to dodge tree branches that came down to smack him. The girl running at top speed down the stream leaping over to the other side occasionally. "Hurry up, Asch!" the girl cried behind her happily. "It's not fair! You're so much shorter than me, y/n! At least you aren't being attacked by trees!" he yelled angrily. Y/n only laughed happily.
Y/n's pov:
I always knew I was shorter and faster than Asch even if he is a lot bigger and stronger. After my parents died, Lady Grandma felt pity on me since my mother was a good friend of hers and my father was one of the king's guards. When they died fighting for the kingdom, she came to my house to get me. After that she tried teaching me magic. I didn't get it at first but then someone tried to assassinate one of the royal family.
I'm not quite sure what happened afterwards but Lady Grandma says that I used my magic and saved them even though I didn't remember. After that I started to get the hang of it and now I can shapeshift, use dark fire magic, requip my armor(Fairy Tail reference), and conjure weapons. I train with Lady Grandma and her other student, Rhys. He's pretty nice but he can also be a bit of a smart ass.
Anyways, me and Asch quickly became friends once Lady Grandma introduced us. Actually, he's the one that taught me fire magic, although mine turned up a darkish purple which is why I call it dark fire. When Asch and I have time off from training and such, we like to play out in the woods not too far from the castle. We have a small trail that leads to the stream that we race around but not too far down that is the waterfall.
I stopped at the edge and looked down into the silver water. It was simply breathtaking. I swear this view of the forest and the falls will never get old.
Asch's pov:
Y/n stopped us at the edge of the cliff and stared at the silver water that streamed down, crashing into the pool below in awe. She just looked so pretty standing in the moonlight. Wait. What am I saying?! But, she is powerful and grandmother's pupil. Jeez. I need to get my thoughts together. As I stopped shaking my head, I looked up to see y/n staring at me while smiling. I smirked as I thought of something. I walked closer and grabbed her only to jump off the cliff and into the pool.
We crashed through the surface and underneath. I swam up to see y/n gasping for breath before looking at me angrily. "What the hell was that, Asch?! You trying to kill me or something!" I only smiled in response.
"Oh not gonna talk are you?" She said smirking at me. My smile melted away to one of confusion. She swam closer until we were almost a foot away from each other. "You asked for it!" "Wait wha-" I was cut off as she pushed me under the water. I came back up coughing.
"Hey-" I tried to say but was cut off again this time by y/n splashing me. I shook the water from my face and looked at her. She started giggling and I couldn't help but blush. "Aww! You look cute when you blush!" She said pointing. "What? I'm not cute! I'm the prince of Daemos!" I could feel my face heat up. "You sure~" she smiled. "Shut up!" I said splashing her.
"Pardon me. Your majesty? Lady Y/n?" I looked over to a group of my father's guards standing on the shore. "The king wishes to see you your majesty and Lady Grandma wishes to see you as well Lady Y/n." The front guard stated. I just sighed and swam to the shore with Y/n. We quickly dried ourselves with magic and followed the guard back to the castle while the other two stayed on either sides of us.
We followed along in silence before the castle came into view and Lady Grandma waiting at the front.
Y/n's pov:
Lady Grandma was waiting in the front of the castle for us when we got back. "There you two are! Done making out in the woods?" she sneered. I could feel my face heat up from her inappropriate jokes. "Lady Grandma!" I said trying to cover up my face with my hands. "Grandmother!" Asch said angrily. "Oh calm down, I'm only teasing. You know this!" She defended herself with a smile. "Either way, Asch, your father wants to see you and your guards so you'd better go find them. And you missy need to get ready for your training session. " She said looking over to me. "Yes ma'am." I said to Lady Grandma nodding at Asch before running to my quarters.
Lady Grandma came to the training room a few minutes after I had gotten there in my training armor. It's pretty simple with my requip magic. "Well at least you get here on time. She joked. "So what are we doing today?" I asked, jumping from the table I had been sitting on. "Well we're going to practice on potion making and your magic. You keep losing control of your shifter magic." She scolded. "I'm telling you I'm trying my best!" I hung my head. "Well keep trying until you get it." She said. "Alright."
Later:
"And that's how to make a teleportation potion. You slam it down and say where you want to go and it'll open a portal to that world. Who knows, you may have to use this potion one day." She said holding up the blue and purple potion we had just created. "Wow. It's incredible!" I looked at it in awe. Lady Grandma placed the potion in a stand. "Ok. Now it's time to work on your magic. That potion took longer than expected so we'll only work on your shifter magic since it's the one giving you the most trouble. "Ok!"
"Try a black spirit first and we'll see how you do. If you can do that we'll move up to a larger form and see where you lie." Lady Grandma instructed. "Ok. I think I can do this!" I said confidently. I had been practicing my shifter forms for a while and a black spirit seemed the easiest. As expected I did it flawlessly. "Very good. Now, try doing a larger shift like a dragon or wyvern." Lady Grandma said inspecting my form. "You want me to try something that large?!" I say shifting back into my normal self. "Of course." she said calmly.
"Uhm, ok I can try." I say uncertainty. "If it helps, your mother always said that to do her more difficult shifts, she pictured things she cared for. Maybe try her technique." she said to me. "Things I care for?" I say thoughtfully. I clear my mind and think of things I care for. The first thing that comes to my blank thoughts is Asch's face.
"Well now! I didn't think it would actually work!" I heard Lady Grandma laugh in amazement. I opened my eyes looking down on Lady Grandma who seemed so much smaller. I then looked back at myself and realized I had flawlessly shifted into a beautiful purple and silver dragon with magnificent galaxy wings. "It worked." I breathed in astonishment. "Ok, shift back so we don't alarm anyone due to a dragon in the castle." Lady Grandma told me.
I did as told and shifted back into my normal self. "Ok so since that tactic worked so well, we'll keep practicing it, but for now we'll leave it at that. Well done, Y/n." Lady Grandma complimented me. "Well done indeed, Y/n. That was extremely impressive. Perhaps we should spar sometime." A voice came from the entrance to the training room.
"Oh, Rhys. We'll start your training now then. Y/n, you should practice that tactic in your spare time instead of getting lost in the woods with Asch." Lady Grandma said, addressing me and Rhys both. "Of course, Lady Grandma." We said at once. I turned to leave the training room and walked back to my room and started working on the armor set I was making for Asch's birthday. It was only a few weeks away and the only thing I needed to finish was the cape. I ended up falling asleep at my desk on the finally finished cape and the armor design.
That Night:
"Y/n! Y/n, wake up!"
"Huh?" I woke up still at my desk, Lady Grandma stood next to me. I looked over to my window to find it was still night. I look up at Lady Grandma, her eyes clouded with fear and shock. "Lady Grandma? What's wro-" All of a sudden there was a loud crash near the east side of the castle. "What's going on?!" I ask, frightened. "The castle's under attack! Follow me!" Lady Grandma told me and led me to the spellroom.
"What are we doing down here? Shouldn't we go up and help? If we hurry we can still-" Lady Grandma then interrupted my rambling. "I need you to take this crystal to Earth. I've told you about it, right. This crystal is the thing they are after. It has multiple human souls. As long as it's here, they will stop at nothing to get it. Shift into a human form. No one must know you are a daemos. Please, take care, my child.." she said, wrapping a purple jewel around my neck and hugging me as I did as told and shifted into a human form.
Lady Grandma then threw down the potion we had made earlier today and said, 'Earth'. There was soon a portal to Earth before us. "But what about Asch? He'll try and come after me!" I told her, concerned for the prince. "I'll tell him you went missing in the attack." "But that'll tear him apart!" "Don't worry about that! Just go to Earth, I'll keep things calm here. Goodbye Y/n. I love you.." Lady Grandma then pushed me through the portal, a single tear running down her face.
"No!" I cried one last time before going through the portal and waking up on Earth.
