When the first rays of sunlight crept through the blinds, Samantha was nowhere to be found. The sheets were cold next to you, which indicated they haven't been occupied for awhile. With a stretch and a yawn, you started your search to find the missing woman.

"Sam?" You called out, hoping that she was wandering around the apartment. Feet padded down the hallway, sleep still pulling at your body. Through blurry eyes, a figure stood in the kitchen, dressed in all black. A panicked scream rippled through you, the sleepy state interpreting them as Ghostface.

"Hey, hey, it's me. You're okay" Sam's hands gently cupped your face, thumbs rubbing along your cheeks. You tried to blink the sleep away, chest heaving with your heavy breaths. It took a moment for your mind and vision to meet in the middle. Once it did, your heart started to calm at the presence in front of you.

"The bed was empty and I couldn't find you and then I thought I saw, I'm sorry" an apology was all you could give, they were the only words you could muster. To ground yourself, you wrapped your arms around Sam in a tight embrace.

"It's okay, I'm sorry for scaring you" her hands tangled in your hair, fingers running through the strands. She kissed the top of your head and pulled you closer. She held you until your heart fully calmed and promised a breakfast to fill your anxious stomach.
