Shalu was siting by the lake, thinking of the past.
The day when her mother and father had died and she had gone to Shourya's house to discuss with him the decision of shifting to Mumbai. She was about to enter the drawing room when she saw a panditji sitting and showing pictures of girls to Shourya's mother.
Shourya's mother (S.M.)- None of the girls are good enough panditji.
Panditji (P)- Maam Shourya baba often comes to the temple with Shalu to take blessing. I think the two are in love, why are you still looking for another girl?
S.M.- Because she is not good enough. Even her parents are dead now. Moreover its Shourya. He shall forget her soon if he marries a better girl.
P- Shalu is a very good girl too.
S.M.- She won't help us in the family business. I am looking for a girl who shall help us in our business.
P- What will you do if Shourya does not agree to marry?
S.M.- He was in love with Lakshmi for 2 years but after befriending with Shalu for a few days, he got into a relationship with her. Nowadays girls and boys are no longer serious about all these.
P- Shourya baba was interested in Lakshmi when they were in middle school. He was just hitting puberty and had some attraction. But he has been with Shalu since high school till now. They seem so happy.
S.M.- If he does not agree then I shall get his younger brother married and throw that fool out of my house till he agrees to leave behind that orphan.
Panditji knew very well of Shourya's mother temper and kept quiet. Shalu knew that Shourya's love for her was genuine but she decided to leave. She did not want the mother-son relationship to turn sour.
Shalu's trance was broken when Shourya sat by her and put his legs into the water as well.
He holded her hand and said, "Promise me you will never leave me again."
Shalu smiled and said, "I shall be by you in all conditions."
Looking into her eyes, he whispered, "Don't worry I shall never ask you why you had left me like that. I trust you. I know you are not saying me the reason behind it to me for my own good only."
A touched Shalu hugged Shourya tightly. Looking at the stars, Shourya promised, 'I shall hold you tight till death tears us apart.'
The next morning,
Lakshmi had arrived at the door of Mr. Bajaj's room and entered unannounced. But the view she saw on entering gave her a bigger surprise.
Mr. Bajaj was changing his clothes and was yet to wear his shirt. Lakshmi's eyes were checking out his well-built toned muscles when she heard his voice, "Have you seen enough?"
An embarrassed Lakshmi started coughing. Giving a smile, she continued, "I just wanted to give you tea." Keeping the tray, she ran away.
Meanwhile Shalu had announced that she would be going back to Punjab and marrying Shourya. Lakshmi could see in her sister's eyes her dreams of her happily ever after.
Later that morning, Lakshmi was as usual teaching the kids when Rishab came there and sat by him. "What are your plans after Shalu's marriage?", he asked her in a low voice.
"Nothing. I haven't thought about it yet."
"I can offer you a job."
"I doubt if I am not qualified enough."
"Take it as a way I am paying back the debt back to baba. Obviously I am not going to give you cash for free."
"What job can I do?"
"Well you can be my P.A."
"I don't want to snatch Yash's job."
"He is my secretary. Since I have not got any proper personal secretary yet, he has been doing the job of both."
"I feel bad for him. Now tell me my duties."
"You have to take care of me and be with me wherever I go."
"Is it a way to bind me to you? All of these should be the duties of your girlfriend."
"Will you agree to be my girlfriend then?"
Lakshmi smiled at Rishab's flirting skills and said, "Where are we going to stay after Shalu's marriage?"
