Chapter Fifty Three.
The promise.

【  Kyuubi's POV 】

it's been two years since the Fourth Shinobi War, and now Naruto is getting married to Hinata! Can you believe this? I'm happy and sad at the same time!

Happy because he finally found love and that Hinata married her childhood crush.

Sad because Naruto will leave the apartment and maybe part of my life. Now I never get to wake up early for the whole hour of waking him up, making him breakfast, ironing his clothes. I sound more like a mother to him, and now he will be gone.

Ever since I was told that he will be getting married, I stayed alone with only my thoughts and to imagine how my life will be without him.

Some part of me is happy because I get to relax, but I still want my brother ya know!

While sitting on the rail and watching the bridge, I heard footsteps behind me which made me take a quick glance.

"Ikuto, hey." I greeted him.

About Ikuto, I found out that he is a Hyūga of course and that he's actually two years older than me, and I thought he was same age as Kakashi-Sensei, heh.

Ikuto joined me as we both sat and watched the river.

"You are out of sight these days, is there something wrong?" he asked. I lowered my eyes and sighed. "I get it, it's about the wedding."

I nodded. "Yeah." I managed to fake a smile.

Awkward silent.

"He still didn't wrote for you anything, did he?" He said unexpectedly.

My hands clutched to my shirt as I crumbled it. He ment Gaara, ever since the war ended and we said our goodbye, I haven't heard of him at all.

"No, it doesn't matter though. He'll come back." I said, trying hard to believe it. He promised, Gaara never goes back on his words.

Ikuto's eyes haven't left from my eyes. "Well, if he doesn't come back, what are you going to do?" he asked.

I shrugged with a smile. "I don't know, maybe just continue my training and... Just like that." My answer is so ridiculous.

I heard his heavy sigh as he smiled. "Kyuubi, we have known each other for maybe two years and a half. And... Ugh, why do I say this..." He scratched the back of his head awkwardly. "I fell in love with you after all these years, and I knew I could never have you. I couldn't pretend to be just your friend any longer. I love you so much, and I can't-" His words were... abrupt. I couldn't believe this.

"Ikuto..." I took a long sigh.

The images of Gaara is flashing inside my head.

"I think you already know that you're going to get rejected." I said, trying to make it sound more friendly other than a hurtful rejection.

He lowered his head and nodded. "I know, but worth trying... If he doesn't get back anymore, will you accept me to your life and accept a date with me?"

"I'll think about it." I said, getting off the rail and walking away.

my other destination is probably Ichiraku's Ramen since I'm a bit hungry.

As I made it inside.

"Ohh, Kyuubi it is! Miso Ramen?" Ayame asked.

I nodded. "Yeah, but the usual." I said, taking the last seat next to the wall and resting my head on the wall.

As I waited and they gave me the bowl, I ate and tried to enjoy this as hard as I can.

"You look sad, why is that?" asked Ichiraku.

I slurped the noodles and swallowed. "Um, not sad to be honest, just..." I thought of a reason until he cut me off.

"You'll miss Naruto, we get it." he said.

"Well, the good news is that you might have little nieces and nephews!" Ayame said, trying to make it bright.

I laughed. "That would be cool actually!" I said cheerfully.

"Ahh, there is your big grin again." Ichiraku said happily. "Ayame sure knows how to cheer you up."

That made me chuckle nervously.

"Ohh!" Ichiraku welcomed his customers, and as I turned my head and thought nothing interesting to see, so just a glance is when I choked on my ramen.

My face turned red as my eyes watered.

"Water, water Ayame!"

Ayame almost tripped when she accidentally splashed the water on my face. I winced when did that. Just how embarrassing, especially when HE came!

Well, that went well. The heat went.

"A-are you alright, Kyuubi-chan?" Tenten asked.

I nodded repeatedly, with red eyes. "Yeah, yeah!" I pushed myself away from the table and chair snd stood right infront of Gaara.

Our eyes locked, that got me blushing and looking away.

"Kyuubi!" Kankuro exclaimed, he had a shocked look. "You look hot!"

Okay, that's too far.

"Kankuro, shut up." Gaara hissed, and back to me. "Kyuubi, it's been–"

"Its been two years, and you never wrote to me." I said abruptly, but didn't mean to though. It's that this thought made me mad a bit.

"Exactly, I want to make it up to you." He said, and then extended his hand. "Uzumaki Kyuubi, will you have a date with me right now?"

I blushed too much.

"Y-yeah, sure." I said, taking his hand.

Gaara took me for a walk, all the way and on a roof of a building. We both sat down close beside each other.

And for a moment of silent and I broke it.

"So, why didn't you wrote for me?" I asked, hugging my legs and looking at the sun.

"Everytime I wanted to, the council prevented me to because they think it'll distract me from my position as the Kazekage. I tried many times, but they knew I would it. I'm really sorry Kyuubi, I–"

I placed my hand on his nervous ones. "I understand." I said, smiling. "I never lost faith though. I knew for sure that you will come for me, or I would have done it."

I stared deep into his sea foam eyes. I cupped his cheek that was slowly turning red. I smiled at him before slowly I leaned into him. My other hand was shaking slightly, my mind was repeating the same sentence over and over, 'Don't do this... don't do this.' But the sound of my heart was beating so loudly I couldn't concentrate. It felt like it was going to explode.

Finally my lips touched him. Sparks flew in every direction, and the world was slowly disappearing around us, along with all of our worries, our troubles and our problems. He made me feel like none of that mattered. It was a small yet warm kiss. I honestly never knew a kiss so innocent could be so intimate and electrifying. His lips were moving in perfect sync, his hands felt my waist; he pulled me closer, the kiss deeper, more passionate. I had my hands on the back of his neck, playing with the ends of his hair. A smile grew on our faces, finally we pulled apart.

"I love you, Kyuubi." He said with a heavy breath.

"I love you too, Gaara." I replied.
