Lexas POV

We all trooped towards the door, curious as to who was behind it. Abby appeared in the hallway, watching from behind as Clarke reached for the doorhandle.

The door swung open, and everyone but me gasped loudly. It took me a moment to place the man standing there, but when I realised who he was, I was as astounded as everyone else seemed.

"Hello Clarke." He said. "Abby." I turned to see that Abby had her hand pressed hard over her mouth, and tears were running freely down her face. Clarke was frozen, staring at the man. Raven and Octavia backed up against the wall as Abby approached the door.

"Jake?" Abby asked in a hoarse voice. Clarkes father nodded. "But how...?"

"Dad." Clarke whispered, and flung her arms around him. He hugged her back tightly, and then looked at Abby. Clarke stepped back to let Abby through, but her mother didn't move.

"Abby, it's me." He said. "It's okay, I swear." Abby let out a small sob, and then flung herself into his arms. Even though we all knew we should look away, no one did.

Clarkes father was supposed to be dead, everyone knew that. But for some reason, he wasn't. He was right infront of us.

Clarke moved to my side as she watched her parents. She took my hand, holding it tightly. I looked over to see her eyes glistening with tears. With my sleeve, I gently wiped them away, but more quickly followed and I gave up.

"How do I know it's really you?" Abby whispered.

"When Clarke was born..." He murmured as proof. "We had a three and a half day argument whether we should call her Clarke or Eliza." Abby laughed and nodded, burying her face in his chest.

Clarke smiled next to me, probably remembering how many times she had been told that story. I squeezed her hand, and her fingers twitched in response.

We all looked away as Abby lifted up on the tips of her toes to kiss her husband, letting them have their own private moment.

"I don't know what to think." Clarkes voice cracked. "I don't know."

"It's okay." I murmured. "You need time."

Clarke shook her head, and then gently twisted out of my grip. Everyone watched as she ran for the stairs, and disappeared up them. After a second, we all heard her bedroom door shut.

Clarkes father looked down sadly, but Abby wrapped her arms around him.

"She's in shock." She mumbled. "She'll come around."

Raven nudged me, and I noticed that she had moved to stand right next to me. Without speaking, she nudged me again and pointed towards the stairs.

"She's right." Octavia whispered. "Clarke needs you."

I nodded, and then headed up the stairs. From behind Clarkes closed door, I could hear her crying, muffled through the door. Not wanting to burst in, I knocked gently. There was no response, so I opened the door slightly.

Clarke was curled up on her bed, her face buried in her pillow. She didn't look up as I closed the door behind me and sat on the edge of her bed.

"Clarke?" I whispered. Clarke lifted her head, and held out a hand to me. I moved more to the middle of her bed, and took her hand. She sat up, wrapping her arms around my waist and leaning her head on my chest. I sat back against the wall as Clarke curled her legs against her chest.

She cried for a long time, her tears staining the front of my shirt, but I didn't mind. Eventually, her body seemed to run out of tears. Clarke still lay there, shaking slightly for another long time. The clock showed one-thirty in the afternoon before someone knocked on the door.

Abby opened the door and sat on the bed next to Clarke. I let Clarke go as she hugged her mother tightly.

"I know it's a lot to take in sweetie." Abby murmured. "I know it's hard. But your father needs you." Clarke nodded silently at her words, but didn't move. Abby sighed quietly and gently pulled Clarkes face up.

"I'm just...shocked." Clarke mumbled.

"How about he comes to you and you two can talk?" Abby asked, and Clarke nodded. I stood but Clarke grabbed my hand.

"Wait, Lexa." She said. "I need to talk to you for a minute." Abby stroked Clarkes hair once before leaving to get Clarkes father.

"What is it Clarke?" I sat back down.

"I'm so sorry." She blurted out. "I didn't mean to drag you into my family drama. But I need you Lexa." I nodded, and pressed my lips against her forehead.

"It's okay." I murmured. "I need you too. But I have to go, because you need your father right now. I'll see you tomorrow, do you want me to come by after school?" I knew that Clarke wouldn't be at school tomorrow, that fact was obvious.

Clarke nodded and let me go as someone knocked on the door. I stood as Clarkes father entered, and made for the door.

Downstairs, Raven was making Abby a cup of tea. Abby was sitting at the table, her head in her hands. Octavia saw me and came over.

"Are you leaving?" She asked.

"Yeah. I'll see you guys tomorrow." Octavia nodded and watched as I opened the door. Stepping outside, I closed it behind me.

When I got home a few minutes later, Luna met me at the door.

"Hey Lex, how did it go?" She asked. "Why is your shirt wet."

"Long story." I mumbled. "I don't want to talk about it right now." Luna, sensing that something was wrong, nodded and let me go. Upstairs, I sat on my bed. Everything had happened so fast, and if it was hard for me to take in, I couldn't imagine how Clarke felt.

There was probably some complicated explanation behind her fathers return, and I knew she would be struggling for a long time. I only hoped that she would be okay in the end.
