"The last thing Misty remembered was feeling her body hitting the ground hard, and causing the breath to be knocked out of her. The fall caused her chest to feel like it had been stomped on by the giant stone warrior. Her vision fell into darkness and she was left alone with the mercy of her mind to keep her company. Misty found herself remembering the memories she had with Lloyd, and it only caused her chest to ache more. She was lapsing in and out of conscience, she was awake just enough to feel the pain, but not enough to move or call for help.
"See look what he's done to you!" a cruel voice said in her head.
"No... Lloyd might have been... busy taking care of Harumi but he would never do what he did on purpose." Misty thought... "right?"
"Are you sure? Don't you remember back on the Bounty? He didn't even care about you all he cared about was Harumi..." the voice said back
"No, I'm sure Lloyd still cares about me."
"Then why didn't he save you? He left you to fall to your doom, he made sure he took care of Harmui and then left you."
"He... did..."
"See he doesn't even care about you anymore... after you recover you should just leave him alone, let him see how it feels."
"I can not and will not desert my team!"
"What if your "Master," told you to..."
"Lloyd would never!"
"You will see."
~Past~
Then the voice disappeared and left Misty with just her memories, the one she was witnessing happened before she had left to look for Wu.
She had been crying in her room, during the night, she heard a knock at her door and Misty sniffed and sat up in her bed to see Lloyd enter he was carrying a tub of Ice cream and two spoons.
He sat down on the bed beside her and offered one of the spoons. "Ice cream?" He said
"Ice cream?" Misty echoed looking confused.
"Ice cream makes things a bit better," Lloyd said with a sad smile.
"You always did have a sweet tooth," Misty muttered she sighed and took the spoon.
Lloyd opened the container and placed the lid on Misty's nightstand, Lloyd placed the Ice cream bucket in between the two of them and they both took a bite, they ate in silence,
"I'm sorry we still haven't found Wu," Lloyd said quietly.
Misty sighed and said her voice breaking, "I-I just... I know he wasn't perfect but he was my-"
"He was your father," Lloyd finished for her and offered her a kind smile.
Misty rested her head on Lloyd's shoulder and said, "I'll see him again..."
Lloyd nodded and said, "I know it,"
Misty smiled and Lloyd and said, "Thanks,"
"For what?"
"Everything,"
Lloyd smiled and gave Misty a kiss on the forehead and said, "Of course I love you,"
~Present~
Misty then returned to reality and so did the voice.
"What a sweet memory..." the voice said Misty could imagine it coming from someone sneering
"that wasn't for you to see." Misty snapped and added, "That's my memory!"
"Oh, but sweetie I am you... just another version, one you haven't met but will soon enough." And the voice disappeared.
Even though that night Lloyd had been stubborn Misty realized that Lloyd hadn't just been doing it for his benefit but also hers, it had made her feel better, it helped ease the pain. Begin around someone you love always seems to be the best cure.
"But it's all just a memory now." Misty and the voice whispered at the same time.
"And that's all we have now." Misty finished
