Wilbur's POV
I looked outside. For some reason, snow was falling. I think it'll stop soon. I heard buzzing, slowly coming closer. I spotted a weak-looking scout bee coming towards the hive. He entered the hive, panting for breath. I herded her farther away from the cold outside. She looked at me.
"I have news for the queen," she said. I nodded and walked with her to the queen. Along the way, other bees looked at us, worried. I floated into the throne room. Surrounding a throne was millions of eggs. Those eggs were going to become the future colony of our hive.
"Speak," The queen said.
"I saw a strange creature," The scout bee said. "It was very large and was completely colored lime green. I believe it is a bird." Everyone gasped. Birds were rare threats that had to be removed immediately. They ate bees and many of them. In jungles far away, most hives were ravaged by parrots.
"However," The scout bee continued, "The bird seems in pain and very weak."
"So?" The queen asked.
"We might be able to attack it when the snow goes away," The scout bee said. "We should be easily able to attack it." The queen nodded.
"Let us swarm the bird when the snow stops," The queen said. "For now, we must wait."
Later...
Y/n's POV
When I woke up, the snow had stopped falling. I was covered in a blanket of snow. I stood up and shook the snow off my feathers. I stretched my wings. I flew up into the sky. I saw the player's house and the forest. I tried to remember where my home was. I looked around. While I was looking around, looking for my home, when all of a sudden I heard a lot of buzzing underneath me. I looked down, and then a wave of brown and yellow crashed into me. I felt a sharp pain in my neck. I saw angry bees buzzing around me. Of course, I tried to defend myself. I tried to peck, grab and hit the bees. Unfortunately, the bees were too quick for me. I managed to grab one bee with my talons. I threw the bee down, almost injuring it.
"What do you want from me?" I screeched. One bee took the chance to sting my wing. Another bee stung my other. Without my wings, I wouldn't be able to fly. Then, I plummeted towards the ground.
...This is it, isn't it?
Wilbur's POV
Everyone was yelling orders and threats. The parrot was desperately trying to free herself. The parrot didn't seem to want to fight. Eventually, a look of fury came across the parrot's face. She started attacking the others. One bee wasn't very lucky. The parrot grabbed him and threw him against the ground. The parrot screeched out something. Normally, nobody would understand it, because it was speaking a different language. But I heard something.
"What do you want from me?" Someone shouted. "Leave me alone!" The bird seemed to be speaking... and for some reason, I understood it. What is going on?! I knew in my heart that I couldn't bear to let my hive kill someone who could talk, who probably had a family. As the parrot plummeted to the ground, I used all my strength to push the parrot towards the water. The parrot fell into the water. A few seconds later, it came back up to the surface, gasping for breath.
Y/n's POV
I landed in a pond. My lungs started hurting. I flapped my wings to try to fly. I ended up swimming up to the surface. I gasped for air. I slowly dragged myself ashore. This one bee came to me and looked at me. I watched it warily. The bee might sting me again. My body throbbed with pain.
"Are you okay?" The bee asked.
"Do you understand me?" I asked.
"Yes, I think so," The bee said. Strange. Bees usually don't understand the language of parrots. The rest of the bees swarmed towards the bee talking to me. They seemed to be talking to each other. I couldn't understand the other bees, however. I could only understand the bee I was talking to. The bees eventually went back to their hive. I looked up high in the sky. The sun was setting. I flew near the players' house. I hesitated. This was a big risk. They could find me and capture me again. I looked for places I could sleep and hide. I eventually found out that under one of the windows was a nook I could hide in. I got comfortable and looked up at the sky. I saw the pale moon shining. The stars twinkled. You could never see this sight in the jungle. But back in the jungle were large trees and delicious beans. I missed home.
My eyes felt weary. My body was very tired. I closed my eyes. I dreamed about something strange. I saw myself carrying flowers. I gave them to a bee, who collected the pollen and nectar. I and the bee started chatting together. Then I woke up. The bright morning sun shined on me, drying me off a little more. I flew high into the air.
"Excuse me?" Someone said behind me. I turned around and saw the bee from yesterday.
"Our queen would like you to stay with us," The bee said. "She thinks you are no longer a threat."
"How am I a threat?" I asked in disbelief.
"Sometimes, parrots like you come to this place and ravage our hives," Said the bee. I nodded. I would try to stop a person from destroying my home too.
"Why does your queen want me to come with you?" I asked.
"She thinks that you might be a nice member of our hive," The bee said. I thought about it. It doesn't seem like they would hurt me.
"Okay," I agreed. I'll come with you."
Wilbur's POV
The parrot and I flew to my hive.
"This is a pretty nice hive you live in," She said.
"We worked on it well," I said proudly. She smiled and nodded. I showed the parrot her bed.
"This is where you can sleep," I said. "The queen is going to come soon, so be ready." I went inside my hive again. I went to the throne room and nodded. The queen exited her throne and flew outside. She looked at me.
"You will have to translate what I say for me," the queen said. "Understand, Wilbur?"
"Yes, your majesty," I replied.
Two days later...
Turns out the parrot's name is Y/n. Y/n is very helpful. She brings flowers to use and guards the nest. She's also very kind. Today, however, I heard voices. Footsteps neared the hive. I had heard this sound before.
"Players!" I screamed. The bees quickly tried to evacuate as smoke filled the hive. I started choking on the smoke. I looked in the hive for any other bees. Everyone was out except me. I tried to fly out, but the players destroyed the hive and put it into their inventory. I was trapped.
Y/n's POV
I pecked the players. They seemed to think I was a bee stinging them. But one of them turned around. They alerted the other players that I was here. They pulled out a leash and quickly tied it around my neck. I started to try to free myself, but they had a firm grasp. They led me away and into their house again. They put me in a new cage. This time there was another parrot.
"Who are you?" The other parrot asked.
"My name is Y/n," I told them.
"My name's Paul," Paul said.
"Can you help me escape this place?" I asked hopefully.
"Sorry," Paul said, "But I'm not going to help you. My owners looked really happy when they found you." I ruffled my feathers in frustration. I looked for anything I could use. The stick I used was gone. The only thing I could use was a... pair of boots? Useless. I guess I can only wait.
Hours later, small tears dropped out of my eyes. Couldn't they understand? I just wanted to be free. And that Paul... it makes me so angry thinking about him. How could he feel bad for those players!? They literally took me and him hostage! I heard a buzzing noise. Could it be? Wilbur flew into the room and gave me a small wooden ax. This could be used for the glass! I banged the glass. It eventually broke and sent shards flying everywhere! This alerted the players that I was escaping. Right before I flew away, I felt something hold me down. I looked behind me and saw Paul, keeping me from freedom.
"What is wrong with you?!" I shouted. Paul didn't reply, but glare at me.
Wilbur's POV
I zoomed towards the other parrot. I readied my stinger and stung the other parrot's back. The parrot screeched in rage and slapped me with his feathers. To a bee, this would be extremely dangerous. I hurt my wing. I tried flying but found out that the parrot had broken my wing. Y/n looked back in horror. She flew over to me and picked me up and put me on her back. Then, she flew away. I could feel myself losing consciousness. When I opened my eyes, I saw everyone looking down at me. The queen, the other bees, my family, and Y/n.
"Are you okay, Wilbur?" asked Y/n.
"Yeah, I'm okay," I replied.
"You've been unconscious for a day," Y/n said. "I'm glad you're okay. I nodded and smiled.
"Wilbur," Y/n said, "I found a way back home. I'm going to leave."
"Why?" I asked.
"I miss my home," She said. "My family lives there."
"I understand," I said. "You can return, I guess. She flew up into the sky and smiled at me. She flew away, and far away. Inside of me, I could feel my heart breaking in two. I'll miss you, Y/n...
Years later...
I gathered nectar and pollen. I was now a trusted royal guard for the queen. It's been years since I've seen Y/n. I never wanted her to leave, but if she wants to, I shouldn't stop her. The next morning, I saw a very familiar face.
"Y/n!" I shouted.
"Hi Wilbur," She said. She placed down some strange blue flowers. "I brought you a gift."
"What are you doing here?" I asked.
"I thought you missed me," She said. "So I decided to pay you a little visit." I nodded happily. Seeing her again mended my broken heart.
"I'm so glad to see you again," I told her. "I missed you so much!"
"I missed you too," Y/n said. "So I brought some rare blue orchids." I started feeling something towards her that I had never felt to her before. Love.
