Chara's body disappeared and all that was left was the bones sticking up from the ground. The souls were in shock by what they had just seen. I wasn't very troubled over what had gone down though. I had already had the displeasure of meeting this side of Sans. From what I had learned during this moment, Frisk was right. Only Sans could've properly judged Chara.
Stans stood still in front of the bloody bones. He made no motion to let go of the souls he had stirring inside him. After a couple minutes we started to feel uneasy. I was wondering why Sans hadn't let us all go yet.
"Frisk." Sans called out.
All the souls were a bit confused by the name Frisk, since none of them had remembered meeting the child. I didn't know why Sans was calling the kid right now.
"Frisk! I know you're there! Why, don't you come on out?" Sans called out once again.
After a moment the small child appeared before Sans. It was Frisk, they stood there timidly. They had a sullen expression and hid their hands in the sleeves of their sweater.
"Hi, Sans." Frisk said shyly.
Sans stepped forward toward the Kid and small grin crept up his face.
"Kid. I've heard a lot about you. Things from a timeline no one can seem to recall, but I'm sure you do. I've heard some stuff I don't want to believe are true, but they must be. Ain't that right? You wouldn't be here if they weren't. You have anything to say for yourself?" Sans said grimly.
Frisks lips quivered and tears welled up in their eyes. The seemed to contemplate what their answer was going to be.
"I...I'm sorry." Was all Frisk was able to muster up.
"Yea, sorry doesn't change anything though. I already know how the other Sans must've felt and I'm sure he gave you a bad time for it." Sans said.
Frisk repeatedly wiped the tears from their face. The child started to hiccup from how much they cried. Sans walked up to Frisk and gently patted their head.
"I'm sorry. I was wrong. Chara was my fault...." Frisk said sobbing.
Sans squeezed the kid towards himself and let the kid cry onto their jacket. He rubbed Frisk's back as they continued to cry.
"There, it's over now. Kid just don't get vengeful on me okay?" Sans said.
Frisk giggled and nodded after wiping their face once again.
"No one other than me remembers you, but I promise that I won't forget ya." Sans said kneeling down to eye level with Frisk.
"Ahem!" Yelled someone from the floor.
They both looked down to notice Flowey.
"How are you here?" Sans asked.
"I don't have a soul. Therefore I didn't get sucked up like everyone else." Flowey explained.
"Flowey!!" Frisk exclaimed jumping on the ground next them.
The kid's joy only seemed to annoy the cynic flower.
"What is this, some lame reunion?" Flowey asked.
Frisk nodded and Sans just shrugged.
"I just wanted to see the kid one last time." Sans said patting Frisk on the head.
"Sans take care of the monsters and be happy." Frisk said giving Sans a tight hug.
"Careful kid that hurts a skele-ton." Sans joked.
Frisk groaned at the lame pun.
"Flowey you be good!" Frisk shouted.
"Yea, whatever." Flowey responded.
"Kid this it. I have to open the barrier and let go of all the souls. I won't see you anymore." Sans said wistfully.
"It's okay! I could talk to (y/n) when they sleep. I've been practicing to talk to them through the dreams." Frisk said.
"That sounds hella creepy." Flowey stated.
Frisk and Sans just looked at him for a moment and then laughed. They were like old pals catching up.
"Bye kid. It's time for me to let everyone go."
Frisk hugged Sans goodbye and pat Flowey. Frisk waved goodbye as Sans walked off towards the barrier room.
A tear fell down Sans cheek as he walked away from the kid. When Sans reached the room he placed his hand against barrier and it shattered. The barrier was now gone and the underground was open. Sans closed his eye sockets and let go of all the souls inside him. They rushed out of him and the monsters all awakened in their bodies.
I awoke in Judgment Hall and quickly made my way to the barrier room. Sans stood outside watching the bright sun ahead. The beautiful sight was enough to fill me with determination.
