[(Saturday Morning)]

The sun poured through Michael's bedroom window as you slowly opened your eyes and adjusted to the light. You had woken up on your back, your head facing the wall. You yawned and stretched, taking a moment to sit up and fully awaken. You looked over to Michael who hadn't woken up yet. He was still laying on his back, his limbs sprawled out under the covers. You decided to leave him be as you quietly slipped out of his room and trudged downstairs.

Evan and the Afton parents were in the kitchen doing all of their ordinary morning activities. Mrs. Afton was brewing a cup of coffee as William skimmed through the newspaper. Evan lay on the floor, coloring a family portrait on some sketch paper.

You stumbled on the last step as you tripped on one of Evan's abandoned plushies. "Oh- sorry Evan," you apologized. "It's okay y/n," he assured you, picking up his bonnie plushie. "Do you wanna see what I drew?"

"Of course! Let me see," you responded smiling. Evan retrieved his drawing and held it up for you to see. Written messily on the top of the paper was the word "family," and there stood 6 people underneath it: him, Elizabeth, Michael, Mr. and Mrs. Afton, and you. There was no doubt the last one was you. "Awww, that is so cute!"

You melted as you hugged Evan super tight, almost tearing up at the fact he considered you family. He's always been a little sweetheart.

Mrs. Afton made an "aww" sound as she smiled warmly, sipping on her coffee. Evan gave you a fist bump like he usually does before running off to his room with his drawing and his bonnie plushie.

You looked around the room, noticing that someone was missing. "Where's Elizabeth?" you asked. Mrs. Afton pointed upstairs, signaling she was in her room. "She's been up there all morning," Mrs. afton spoke, "she found some new clothes to try on."

You smiled, walking over to the cabinets to make a bowl of cereal. Since the Aftons had three (sometimes picky) kids, they had plenty of boxes to choose from. Mrs. Afton placed her empty coffee cup in the sink and slipped into her bedroom, getting tidied up for the day ahead.

Mr. Afton stood up from his seat and walked over to you, lightly placing his hand on your shoulder. "How'd you sleep y/n? Did Michael bother you any?" he asked, his deep voice slightly jarring you as you turned your head to look at him. "Oh, I slept great," you responded, feeling slightly anxious. His tall figure and creepy smile threw you off a bit, but it's not like he was gonna hurt you. Especially not with the others around.

"And no, he didn't bother me any," you forced a small laugh and continued fixing your cereal.

"Well, that's good to hear," William sighed in relief as he pat your back and left the kitchen to get dressed. The parents were going furniture shopping today in hopes of finding a new chair. The one in the lounge had rips on the corners, and it didn't fit the room's color scheme anyways. This meant you and Michael would be left in charge of the younger ones for a while, but that shouldn't be too bad, right?

———

You grabbed the milk from the fridge and poured it over your cereal of choice, watching each tiny splash it made. After putting the milk away, you carefully carried it over to the dining table and sat down. In the middle of eating, Elizabeth peeked downstairs and waved at you with an excited smile. You grinned and waved in return as she skipped back to her room humming and dancing.

Eventually you finished your breakfast, heading over to the sink to clean up after yourself.

———

Once you were done washing your bowl, you dried it and placed it back in the cabinet and heard Michael coming down the stairs beside you. You turned around to face him with your hands on the counter behind you.

"Look who's finally up," you laughed lightly. Like you, he was still in his pajamas, but he had put his tank top back on before coming downstairs.

Michael grinned and stretched his arms above him, his shirt revealing a bit of his lower abdomen. You felt your face getting hot and lowered your head a bit, trying to avoid eye contact. "Uh, how'd you sleep?" you asked shyly.

He looked a bit embarrassed as he stood thinking of a response, your actions from last night replaying through his mind. "Um, pretty good for the most part...I guess," he said clearing his throat. You really hoped you hadn't done something wrong.

He began making his way over to the counter as he opened the cabinet, looking for something to eat.

You couldn't stand the silence anymore, you had to say something.

"Did I do something to wake you up?" you asked.

Michael, already pouring his cereal, quickly glanced over to you and dropped his head. You could tell he didn't want to talk about. "Erm well..." he muttered, "I don't want you to feel embarrassed if I tell you."

Your heart stopped for a quick moment. That could mean anything. What did you do?

Now you've really done it. Way to go y/n, he's probably uncomfortable because of something you did.

He headed over to the fridge to get the milk and came right back, screwing the cap off and placing it aside.

It got super quiet again.

"Can you tell me?" you asked, curiosity getting the best of you.

He stopped pouring and sat the milk jug on the counter, looking over at you then back at his bowl. You noticed him holding back an awkward grin as he started explaining what happened last night.

"So, I woke up because I felt the bed moving... and... I looked down and you were like..."

You were frozen in anticipation, but managed to nod so he'd keep talking. "Uh huh..."

"You were basically hugging me in your sleep," he said laughing awkwardly and looking away, hiding his face with his hand.

Your eyes widened as you processed what he told you. "Wha- oh my god I'm- I am so sorry," you apologized stammering, "I'll sleep somewhere else tonight so that doesn't happen agai-"

You were cut off by Michael resting his warm hand on yours.

He stared into your eyes and smiled, causing both of your faces to flush a light pink.

"It's okay, y/n, seriously. Don't worry about it," Michael said patting your hand as he finished making his cereal, leaving you to your racing thoughts.

"Why isn't he disgusted or uncomfortable?" you wondered, still in shock, "He could like me, but I doubt it. We're just friends... right? Friends don't do these things, or do they?"

Your internal conversation was interrupted by Michael sitting down at the dining table, calling you over. "Here, come sit y/n," he offered, patting the seat beside him. You pulled out a chair and sat somewhat close to him, carefully testing the waters and seeing how close you could get without scaring him off.

You put your elbows on the table and intertwined your own hands together, playing with your thumbs.

Michael was the first to speak. "Soo... what do you wanna do today? My parents won't be home until about 12:00 and it's only..." he stopped to look at the digital clock on the microwave, "9:47."

You hummed, trying to think of some fun things to do when suddenly the Afton kids came running downstairs. They both greeted you with hugs and happy faces, making Michael smile at how good you were with the kids.

"Hi y/n!" Elizabeth chimed, her and Evan sitting down at the table across from you and Michael.

"Whatcha guys talking about?" Evan asked.

"We're coming up with plans for today," you told him, "you two wanna help us?" Evan nodded, tapping his fingers against the table until he thought of something.

"Oh! Sorry, I forgot to tell you," you quickly interrupted, "Me and Michael decided we're all gonna have a drawing competition later!"

Evan perked up at the word 'drawing' and smiled. "Yes! I can't wait for that," he cheered. Elizabeth didn't seem to mind, in fact she seemed excited too.

Elizabeth looked like she'd been holding herself back to keep from interrupting everyone. She was wiggling and bouncing in her seat like a madman.

Michael looked over to his little sister, grinning at how obviously impatient she was.

"Liz, is there anything special you wanna do?" He asked, giggling at her inability to sit still.

"Hide and seek!!" Elizabeth blurted out, soon realizing how loud she was being.

"Please," she added, laughing.
