Macy was feeling pretty bad about herself. She felt shitty for blowing off Gracie to hang out with her friends, but she felt even more shitty for constantly blowing off her friends to hang out with Gracie. She knew realistically she hadn't been away from her friends for that long, but she understood why they missed her. Before Gracie she didn't hang out with anyone at all besides her friend group and some miscellaneous other friends. She tried to put it behind her, but she couldn't stop feeling this weight in her chest. She wished she could just cancel everything and go to Gracie's apartment. 

Macy tried to bury that feeling as quickly as it came because the one thing she didn't want to be, was one of those people who ditches their friends when they start dating. So instead, she showered, and tried her best to make herself look presentable. She seriously thought about forcing her friends to clean her apartment, but she figured it would've been easier and a lot cleaner if she just did it herself. After she finished her long list of house chores, she was finally able to sit down and take a breath. Due to the distraction, she was starting to get over missing Gracie and she was much more excited to see her friends. She hadn't realized how much she actually missing them.

 They'd all known each other since they were kids, because their parents were friends. However, for most of her childhood Macy lived in California and Nausicaa, Marina, Nelle and Rory lived in New York. The only time they'd been able to get together was during most holidays, and for a few months during summer, when all of them stayed at Nelle's house upstate. Macy often found herself missing those days, she felt nostalgic for those years. Occasionally it dawned on her how close knit they really were, how many things they'd shared with each other. 

Just as she was about to fall down the rabbit hole of reminiscence, there was a knock at her door. She opened it with a lazy smile plastered on her face. 

"Hi Junie" She said in a sing-song voice. She wasn't surprised Junie was the first to arrive, she almost always was. Almost everyone in the group knew that Junie was Macy's closest friend, but there wasn't any bad blood over it, it was pretty much accepted by them all. Growing up Junie was the only one who lived near her and she was pretty much her only friend nearby besides some people she knew at school, so they'd always been a bit closer.

"Hi Mace," She mused, wrapping her into a hug. She invited her in and closed the door behind her. "I would say that I haven't seen you in forever but we spent an entire month together so I didn't really miss you that much".

"Thanks Junie how kind of you"

"I know"

Before they got the chance to sit down there was another knock at the door. She hadn't even begun to walk toward it before another knock sounded and then a few more. Apparently her friends couldn't bother being subtle. She smiled at the thought, god she loved them.  As soon as she opened the door they all came running at her for hugs. 

"Guys it really hasn't been that long!" She laughed, offering hugs to each of them. Marina placed a kiss on her cheek, leaving a small lipstick stain in it's place. She didn't mind it much. 

"Whatever, we just missed you" Nelle rolled her eyes and wrapped an arm around Macy's waist for a side hug. 

"I can see that" Macy sneered. 

"So, you have to tell us everything that happened with Gracie, oh! and I brought wine"

"I knew you were going to sat that"

"You better give us every detail too, because you haven't told us shit" Rina chuckled. All of them took their usual spots on Macy's sectional, each turning toward her expectantly. She shrugged and raised her brows, "I don't know what you're expecting, there's not much to tell".

"You're full of shit, Diana told me what happened"

"Then why are you asking me to tell you?!"

"Because we all need to know" Nausicaa interrupted. 

"Alright, alright fine" Macy giggled, twisting a curl around her finger. She had a far off look plastered on her face, and a small smile. She thought back over the week she'd had and she could feel the excitement bubbling up in her stomach. 

"Okay, so I guess i'll start from the beginning. So basically, I went over to her house when I got back and she made me this dinner which was so good by the way! Like she's such a good cook! Um but anyway the whole time that we were having dinner and just talking, she kept looking at me kind of weird" Macy blushed at the thought, reminiscing on the things that happened that night. She could feel her skin start to warm and she suddenly felt like she needed to be in front of a fan. 

"What do you mean she was looking at you weird?" Rory questioned, tilting their head in thought. She could tell by their expressions that they'd misunderstood what she'd meant by "weird".

"Well I mean, she was looking at me like I was a piece of meat" 

"I knew it," Nelle smirked.

"So anyways, we ended up on the couch and we'd had like a lot of wine so I asked her why she kept looking at me. So of course she denied it and I kept trying to get her to admit it but she wouldn't. But like I was worried that she was going to be the one to make the first move so I did. I kissed her. and holy fuck she's such a good kisser"

"That's my girl!" Rina offered, throwing a hand up in the air. "Thanks Rina".

"I'm really not exaggerating about her being a good kisser. She kissed me so well that I couldn't even speak after. But anyways we made out for like a long time, and then we started to get tired so we just went to bed. Then the next day she made me breakfast, which was funny because she had no idea I was vegetarian" She laughed, a wide smile forming on her face as she remembered the interaction. 

"The next day we kinda laid around for a little because we didn't know what to do. I couldn't stop thinking that I had to find a way to ask her out but I didn't know what I could do for her. So I decided to take her out for the day. I started off by taking her to this little cafe near her house and she tried matcha for the first time which she seemed to really like. Then I bought her some tulips, those are her favorite flowers. After that I took her to see her favorite movie, I bought her a bunch of pickles and then we went to this club that was having a Taylor Swift night"

"Awww Mace that's so sweet!"

"Then I just asked her to be my girlfriend and she said yes"

"She seems nice, I wanna meet her"

"I want you guys to meet her too, she's so sweet and she's always doing all these things for me. Oh, and she makes me laugh, like seriously I've never met someone who makes me laugh more than her. Don't even get me started on her smile, she has the cutest fucking dimples! I love seeing her smile, oh my god-" Macy rambled on, stuck in her own little world. Each of them shared looks with one another and turned back to her. 

"Macy you're down horrible"

"I know. She's just so fucking amazing! but don't ever tell her I said that"

At some point they'd decided not to go out, they'd been a bit too preoccupied talking about Nelle's newest situationship. She was several glasses of wine in and  having such a good time that the hours seemed to fly by. However, her mind wouldn't stop floating back to Gracie. Ever since she retold the story of the first time she went to Gracie's, her mind kept flashing back to Gracie's lips. Her mind was filled with flashes of Gracie's hands on her hips, and the thought of Gracie's kisses left her lips tingling and her heart racing. She was really starting to miss her, and as much as she'd loved hanging out with her friends, there was nothing she'd rather do than see her.

Macy sat her phone down on the coffee table and spread her arms dramatically. "Hey guys can we like wrap this up? I'm so sorry to end early but I am so tired" Macy yawned. Junie eyed her suspiciously as did Nelle. The two shared eye contact and smirked slightly. The rest of them seemed to be clueless as to what Macy was doing and began cleaning up. Placing wine glasses in the sink and food containers in the trash. Macy offered each of them a hug and a kiss before promptly herding them out the door with promises to call tomorrow. The last two standing were Nelle and Junie. 

"Macy Frazier, I can smell your bullshit from miles away" Nelle laughed, placing a hand on her hip disapprovingly. 

"I have no idea what you're talking about, I'm just really tired"

"You're a horrible liar" Junie added.

"I know"

"I literally saw you texting her" Nelle chimed in, shaking her head.

"Okay I'm really sorry to bail on you, I just really wanted to see her. But I promise the next time we hang out I will be all yours"

"You better be or Gracie and I will have words"

Nelle gave her usual sly smile and placed a kiss on Macy's cheek before walking out hand in hand with Junie. She always liked that about Nelle, that she always understood her. Somehow, in all her youth it felt like she'd done so many things and gained so much wisdom that she didn't bat an eye at anything. She knew that neither Junie or Nelle would give her a hard time about being with Gracie so much, this was her first relationship and they knew how much it meant to her. She hoped the honeymoon phase would pass quickly. She didn't want to seem like a fool chasing after puppy love. Macy found it funny how from an outside perspective it might seem like the two of them were superficial and too young to really understand what being in a relationship is. But to Macy, this is the deepest kind of love she's ever felt in her life. She wonders how it's possible to feel that so soon. She knows it'll be a long time before Gracie and Macy even say "I love you" and she's okay with that. She just wants to make things last, to make this last with her.
