"It's my birthday on Friday!" I sang terribly off-key and shimmied my shoulders in Noora's direction, causing Eva to laugh.

The three of us were sitting on our usual spots on the benches in the school yard. Eva seated on the back of the chair on one bench and Noora and me on the one opposite to her, my blonde friend to my left.

"And you didn't want to have a party in the beginning. Tztz." Noora chuckled and slightly pushed me aside so I would stop bumping her shoulder with mine.

"It's going to be a small get-together at your apartment, that's not a full-on party." I crossed my arms in front of my chest and leaned back. "I can't wait for it."

"Who have you invited?" Eva looked at me, putting her phone in the pocket of her coat.

"Well, it's you guys of course and then I asked Chris so he's coming too." I blinked at her a couple of times. "Noora said that Eskild and Linn will be there too." I looked at my friend in reassurance and she nodded. "And then I wanted to invite Isak, Even and the boys too but I haven't seen them around for the past few days. I texted Isak yesterday but I still want to talk to them in person."

"Sounds good." Noora smiled.

Eva just furrowed her eyebrows at me. "Didn't you say that Jonas has been ignoring you since Friday? You told me when we were in the library during third period yesterday."

"Ja, he still does but who cares." I shrugged, smiling at her. "I want the boys there on Friday and he's part of their little group so." I trailed off and Eva nodded.

"You're such an adult." She chuckled. "I would have been so pissed at him."

"I'm past that." I waved her off. "I was in a shit mood all day on Sunday until Sana had a talk with me." I grinned and rearranged my scarf that was loosely hanging around my neck. "Now I just don't care anymore. It's not my fault he's such an idiot."

"Speaking of the devil." Noora muttered, nodding in the direction of the school gates.

Isak, Jonas, Mahdi and Magnus had just arrived and were now making their way across the yard.

I jumped up from my seat. "I'll ask them now." I put my backpack in the spot I had previously been sitting in. "Don't know when I'll catch them all together again. Keep an eye on my bag for me, ja?"

I didn't wait for an answer, I was already stalking towards the little group of guys which had stopped in the middle of the yard. They were talking and laughing but stopped when I reached them.

"Hei!" I exclaimed from behind Isak and Mahdi, causing them to turn and step aside a little.

"Hallå!" Magnus grinned widely, waving at me.

"So, it's my birthday on Friday." I started, looking at each one of them. Jonas was avoiding my eyes and I wanted to scoff at his attitude. I had decided not to be upset anymore but it hurt nonetheless. "I don't know if you knew that but that's not really important." I continued, trying to ignore my feelings.

"Of course, we knew that." Isak wrapped his arms around my shoulders, pulling me closer to him. "At least I did because I'm your best friend out of the boys."

I laughed and pulled away from him. "I don't know, Mahdi is getting fairly close to the first spot." I grinned, deciding to mess with Isak a little.

"Eyyyy." Mahdi cheered and grinned, throwing his arm around my shoulders, holding a hand up in a peace sign as a response to the other guys. Isak just scoffed at that.

We had really hit it off on Saturday when he had made the presentations for Kosegruppa. He was a funny guy and spending time with him was a blast. We had kept on texting after that and spoken here and there in school. However, I didn't think that Mahdi and me would get past the point of "close school friends".
I noticed Jonas throwing us a glare but I just ignored him. Drittsekk.

"Anyways." I said, smiling at Magnus and Isak. "I'm having a small hang-out, get-together, whatever-thing at Noora's apartment Friday afternoon and evening and I'd really love it if you came. Even is obviously included." I looked at Isak. "You don't need to worry about presents or such, I'm not a big fan of those. Just bring yourselves and your awful jokes and it's all good."

"We make very good jokes, thank you very much." Mahdi spoke up from beside me and I rolled my eyes at him.

Isak nodded. "We're coming. Right, guys?" He looked at his friends.

"We sure are." Magnus held up his hands for me and I laughed, giving him a double high-five.

"You are awesome." I told them and smiled widely. "I'll probably text Isak the details and then he can inform yo-" I closed my mouth and grinned. "Nei, since Mahdi is my new fave, I'll text him."

Three of them laughed at my joke.

"Greit, thank you in advance." I pulled away from Mahdi and glanced at where Noora and Eva had been sitting. Noora however had disappeared to wherever. Eva was watching our exchange like a hawk though and I couldn't help but grin at her squinting her eyes. "I'll see you guys in school and if not then on Friday, ja?" I said to the boys and they nodded. "Ha det." I waved at them one last time, saying goodbye and walked back to my friend.

Eva's grin threatened to split her face in half. "He was not happy about you and Mahdi." She singsonged. "He kept watching you with that face that he always makes when he is about to start a rant about whatever." She held two thumps up as I plopped down in my previous seat again. "It's also the Russ-time-is-capitalistic-and-governed-by-market-forces-face. It's the Scrunch-up-I-disagree-face."

"Where's Noora?" I asked to change the topic of conversation.

"Who cares about Noora." Eva waved me off in annoyance. "Jonas is pissed." She grinned in contentment, glancing behind me. "Oh, he's staring, he's staring, he's staring." She scrambled from her bench, sitting down next to me, our backs facing the yard. "He was staring."

I rolled my eyes. "He is still a drittsekk."

"But he's staring." She repeated and I groaned. "That means something and you know it."

I turned my head, studying her. "Eva?" I asked and she raised her brow at me in amusement.

"Ja?" She grinned and pulled her leg under her other to face me.

"I need to ask you something." I started and she nodded. "I felt weird about my feelings for Jonas, knowing he's your ex and such. And to be honest, I got a weird vibe from you at first. How come that changed all of a sudden?"

My friend glanced behind me again, before looking down into her lap. The smile was wiped from her face. "I have to admit that I didn't really like you and Jonas together at first." She said, looking me straight in the eye. "But that wasn't even because I still had feelings for him or anything, herregud, nei." She chuckled quietly. "It was because I was possessed with this selfish feeling that I didn't want him but I also didn't want him with anyone else. Do you understand?" I nodded and she continued. "I realised that when I started talking to Chris again." She smiled and I couldn't help but mirror her facial expression. "It's not like I'm in love with him or anything but he definitely makes me feel giddy and I just don't feel anything when it comes to Jonas." Eva shrugged, putting a strand of hair behind her ear. Then she grinned at me. "And now, I'm so in love with the idea of you and Jonas, fuck ja."

I laughed at her and pulled her into a hug. "Takk for being honest."

"No worries." We pulled away again and Eva kept smiling. "I can promise you, there are 0% feelings for Jonas on my part. You're good to go."

"I'm good to go?" I repeated and scoffed. "He has been an asshole to me this far and I really don't like it."

"But you have feelings for him." She grinned and wiggled her eyebrows.

I blushed and shook my head. "I didn't say that."

"Ja, you did. Just now. And you're blushing."

"Stop." I snorted and stood up from the bench. "He's been treating me shitty and he's not even apologizing."

"But if he did, you'd totally date him." Eva looked up at me, blinking.

"We have class now." I snarled, turning and stalking off towards the school doors.

She just yelled after me. "That's not a 'no'!"
