You walked out of your room in the Avengers compound. You hadn't been staying there for too long. You were only recently discovered for your telekinesis.

Fury took you back to join the HYDRA missions. You didn't really do anything special in your eyes but you seemed to be able to help them.

'Hey guys.' You smiled while walking into the meeting room.

Your eyes fell onto someone you had only known as the winter soldier. His metal arm was very noticeable. You had never seen him here before. You had never seen him up close at all.

His eyes stared into yours. You had never seen anyone look at you this intensely before. You tried to look away but when you looked back at him, he was still staring at you.

'Does he always stare like that?' You asked.

Sam and Steve walked in.

'You'll get used to it.' Sam said.

'And who are you?' The guy asked you.

You looked back at him and leaned on the table while offering him your hand. He looked at your hand and then back up at you. You sighed and lowered it.

'Y/N, how about you?'

'James.' He just said before he sat back and kept staring at you.

'We call him Bucky.' Steve said.

You looked at Steve and then back at him with a smile.

'Bucky?' You smiled. 'Nice nickname.'

'We just met. You're not calling me that.' He sneered.

Your smile faded and you rolled your eyes.

'Are you always this grumpy?' You asked. 'Someone with a pretty face like you, shouldn't have to be.'

James tilted his head while still keeping his eyes on you.

'Alright this is getting uncomfortable.' You sighed while walking away.

'What's up with you?' Sam asked. 'She's going to help us infiltrate HYDRA.'

'What? She's pretty.' He shrugged.

~

'You loved her since you first met her. Didn't you?' Doctor Raynor asked.

'Its a long time ago. I never saw her again after the blip. She didn't fight the end battle with us.'

She looked at her notebook. She tapped her pen on it and then looked back up at him.

'Did you ever try to call her?' She said. 'You've been trying to make amends. Why not put her on the list?'

'I'm not calling her.'

She started writing in her notebook.

'Seriously? The writing thing again?'

'The love of your life is still walking around this earth. She can give your life meaning and you won't call her.'

Bucky didn't even want to talk about you. He thought you were probably dead by now. You didn't fight the end battle against Thanos, you would've never left him like that.

'She's probably dead. She didn't come back after the battle where the blip happened.'

She grabbed her phone and typed something. She then handed it to Bucky. He stared at her for a moment. She raised her brows. He grabbed it and saw a Google page about you. You were still alive.. living your best life. Working in a coffee shop somewhere which you build up by yourself. He handed the phone back.

'She never reached out to me either. Its been 7 years since I last saw her. I don't think she'd still be interested in me.'

'Will you at least put her name on the list?'

Bucky sighed and grabbed his list. He wrote your name down and then put it away.

'Didn't she tell you she'd never forget you?' She asked.

'Well she clearly did.'

That night, Bucky was just staring at his phone. His eyes were on his contacts. He then pressed the call button and held it against his ear.

'Hello! Y/N, speaking.'

Bucky just froze into place. Hearing your voice brought back a lot of good memories and he had no idea what to say.

'Hello?' You asked.

He then hung up. You were cleaning your workspace. You looked at your phone but the name of who called you had already disappeared.

You looked at the background of your phone. It was a picture of you and Bucky. Even though you were trying to move on with your life, he always stayed in your head.

'I'm sorry, we are closed.' Your employee said.

You looked up and saw someone entering your coffee shop. You felt this.. gaze. Something you had felt before. As if their eyes were burning in your skin. You recognised this feeling.

'Sir..?'

You pushed your colleague back.

'Go to the back.' You said. 'Ill handle it. Go home.'

'Okay, I'll see you tomorrow.' She smiled.

Bucky took his hood off. Your eyes met.

'What are you doing here?' You asked.

'That's what I get after 7 years?' He asked.

You fixed your posture. You didn't know how to respond. You were upset and happy at the same time.

'Where have you been?' You asked him.

'I was part of the blip.. then I helped the avengers beat Thanos.'

You stepped a little closer to him.

'How about you?' He asked. 'I looked for you after the battle and you weren't there.'

'Yeah I.. didn't want to be an avenger anymore. After 5 years of living my life I realised I just want to be normal.'

'Uhm.. I'm no longer the winter soldier, my name is james bucky barnes and you're part of my effort to make amends.' He said.

Amends? You couldn't help but smile a little. You missed him a lot. The amount of times that you thought about reaching out to him but never did. You felt some old feelings for him floating up to the surface.

'Bucky.. I mean.. James.. I think it's amazing that you're trying to make amends.' You said. 'And I'm sorry that I didn't reach out. Look..'

You grabbed the phone and showed him your background picture.

'I never forgot about you. I just thought you didn't want to see me.. I thought I disappointed you by not fighting anymore.'

Bucky walked over to you and stopped right in front of you. You looked up at him. The staring was still a thing he did.

'Doll..' he started.

How you missed that name. You looked at him. You started to feel emotional.

'Y/N.. I mean.' He corrected himself. 'You never left my mind either.'

You wrapped your hands around him and hugged him. He froze into place for a moment before slowly hugging you back. He held you tightly again him.

'How have you been?' He asked you.

'I've been alright.' You said while pulling yourself out his his arms. 'I build up this place for myself.. I have a wonderful life. I have an apartment, I get a lot of customers but.. something is always missing. How about you?'

He didn't say something right away. That actually said enough to you.

'I just.. been making amends. Trying to get my life back but I have these.. flashbacks and nightmares to when I was the wintersoldier.' He said. 'And I've been thinking about you a lot.'

He looked down on you. A wave if sadness crashed into you. Just raw emotion. The realisation that you just got the love of your life back.. and how you wished you could've shared everything with him.

'Buck..' You choked.

'Yes, Doll?'

'Thank you for visiting me.' You sniffed.

He watched you as a tear rolled down your cheek. He wiped it away and ran his hand through your hair.

'Of course.. I know it took me awhile.'

He cupped your face and you brought your face up to his.

'I promised you I'd never forget you.' You said.

'I'm glad you didn't.'

He pressed his lips against yours. You kissed him back right away. It was amazing to see you had those feelings for him still buried somewhere. He pulled back and smiled at you.

'Let me finish up here. We can catch up.' You smiled.

He nodded and watched you clean up.

'Glad to see staring is still your thing.'
