If a story was once on Wattpad but is there no longer, there could be numerous answers for such removal.

1. The story was signed with a publisher and needed to be taken down from Wattpad. Publishers don't seem to like when their contracted works are available for free while they're putting money into getting them ready for release.

2. The writer may have decided to remove it from Wattpad while they're querying it for publication. Some agents and publishers don't seem to look too kindly on works on Wattpad, so by removing the work, it's one less thing a writer needs to worry about while they're trying to garner attention for their story.

3. The writer may be working on revising/rewriting the work and doesn't want the older version being read while the new version is being developed.

4. Because the writer wanted to.

At the end of the day, it's a writer's choice what they publish to platforms such as Wattpad, and as readers, there needs to be an understanding about that. Generally, hopefully, a writer will give readers somewhat of a warning before anything is being removed- this is something I have done in the past, just to give readers the heads-up if they're in the middle of a story. But again- every writer does things differently, and sometimes that's the way it needs to be.

And the last thing you want to do is give them a reason to never post anything new again.
