3rd Person Pov

In Domino High, Y/n and the gang were in a free period as Y/n, Yugi and Tristan watched Joey and Tea duel.

Tristan: Joey, make a move already.

Y/n smiled as he watched Tea beat Joey with a magic card.

Tea: Once again Joey, you lose and I rock.

Tristan: You stink at this game.

Y/n chuckles a little as the school day ends as
Y/n, Yugi and Joey go by some pull up bars as Yugi sat on one and Joey leaned on the other.

Joey: Tristan's right, guys. I do stink. I can't win at Duel Monsters to save my life. What's is it, Yugi? Why can't I ever win? Teach me what I'm doin' wrong.

Yugi jumps down from the pull up bar and walks over to Joey.

Yugi: Well, let's start by checking your deck, Joey.

Y/n: This should be interesting.

Joey reaches into his pocket and pulls out his deck as he hands it to Yugi. Y/n looks over Yugi's shoulder and see's Joey's deck is full of monster cards.

Joey: Powerhouse lineup, don't ya think?

Yugi: No one can win with these. Joey your deck's filled with nothing but monster cards.

Joey: You got it. I packed it with every butt-kickin' monster I could find.

Y/n: But that's not how the game works, Joey. Duel Monsters is all about combing your monster cards with your magic cards to increase their strength.

Yugi: With no magic in your deck, your monster will get creamed every time.

Joey gets off of the pull up bars and runs over to Yugi and Y/n.

Joey: See! That's the kind of stuff I need to know. Guys, you've gotta help me learn more.

Y/n: Well I could try but-

???: Y/n!!

The three turn to look where the voice came from but for only Y/n to get tackled to the ground by a red blur as Joey and Yugi look at what happened. Y/n slowly sits up and groans as he looks at the person who tackled him and saw a girl with black hair with red tips with silver eyes.

Y/n: Ruby, I thought I told you not to do that anymore.

Ruby giggles as she sits on Y/n's lap and faces him with a smile on her face.

Ruby: Sorry, I just couldn't wait to see you!

Y/n sighs and smiles as he rubs Ruby's head making her blush and smile.

Y/n and the gang sat in the living room above the game shop as they had the tv on as they were watching the Duel Monsters Final's. Ruby sat on Y/n's lap while eating a cookie as Y/n was watching the Final's.

Announcer: Good evening, Duel fans and our ten million viewers at home, and welcome to the Duel Monsters Duel Dome. Where, tonight, the Duel Monsters Regional Championship will be decided.

Y/n watched as he knew some of the competitors were strong.

Announcer: Of the 200 duelists that have competed in this marathon tournament only 2 competitors remain standing. Put your cards together for Weevil Underwood, The Bug Brawler!

A duel tower lowers down onto the field as a boy with short green hair and glasses wearing a green coat smirks as the crowd cheers.

Announcer: And his opponent, the number one ranked Rex Raptor, Dino Duelist.

Another duel tower lowers down to reveal a boy with brown spiky hair with purple hair going down his face as he has a red beanie on with a red shirt and light brown vest.  Joey looks at the screen with Yugi as they sit on the center couch.

Joey: Bug boy versus Dinosaur breath. What kind of match is that? That should've been me in there.

Tea and Tristan sit on separate couches as they face the screen as Y/n and Ruby sit in front of the tv. Tea smiles as she looks over at Joey.

Tea: I know you've been training for weeks, but those guys are in another league. Your just not ready yet.

Ruby looks up from her cookie as she has a closed eye smile.

Ruby: Besides, Y/n could get beat you in two turns, Joey.

Joey growls a little as his hands twitch as he holds himself back from hurting Ruby as Y/n smiles and pats Ruby's head. Joey calms down as he crosses his arms and closes his eye while smiling.

Joey: Sure, rub it in.

Yugi: And on top of that, you're so tired you can't keep your eyes open.

Light snoring is heard from Joey as Y/n chuckles a little.

Y/n: I think Mr. Muto's lesson have been too tough on him.

Tristan: You see, it's true what they say. You snooze, you lose!

Joey wakes up grumpy as he glares at Tristan as Tea and Ruby giggle.

Joey: Ahh. I must've been nuts to think I could ever learn this crazy game.

Y/n: Don't worry, Joey. It took me a while to master my deck, so you'll get used to it.

Grandpa Muto enters the room holding a box as he looks at Joey.

Grandpa: Time for your lesson.

Joey: Wha—we're not done?!

Grandpa: Not by a long shot, you slacker. Now quit your whining, Joseph. I know you've been working long and hard, but you really are coming along as a duelist, and I'm quite proud of you.

Joey smiles as tears well up in his eyes.

Joey: Gramps, thank you.

Joey goes to hug Grandpa but he moves out of the way leaving Joey leaning over the couch before falling to the floor.

Grandpa: Oh, by the way Y/n, this package came for you.

Y/n looks a Grandpa in confusion as he raises an eye brow.

Y/n: For me? Why didn't it just go to my house?

Yugi: Well you are here most of the time, maybe the mail man thinks you live here.

Y/n grabs the box as Ruby moves to sit next to Y/n as he puts the box on the table as the group looks.

Y/n: It's from Industrial Illusions.

Joey: Industrial Illusions?

Joey hops back on the couch as he looks at Y/n.

Joey: That's the company that makes the Duel Monsters game. Why the heck would they be sending a package to you, Y/n?

Y/n: No clue. Maybe they heard about me beating the world champion.

Tea: You mean Kaiba?

Ruby: How could they hear about that?

Y/n: I don't know, it wasn't an official match, but I heard Kaiba dropped out of the tournament because of me.

The group looks back to the tv as they saw Weevil beat Rex as the announcer walked to the stage.

Announcer: And Now, a very special honor for our new champion. Here to present the Duel Monster Championship Trophy, the creator of Duel Monsters and the president of Industrial Illusions, ladies and gentlemen and fellow duelists, I give you Mr Maximillion Pegasus!

The announcer points his arm to a panel in the duel field as the crowd cheers. The panel opens to reveal a man with long white hair in a red suit as his hair covers his left eye. Pegasus is seen holding a trophy in his hand as he walks over to Weevil who has stepped out if his duel tower. Pegasus smiles as he kneels down a little and holds out the trophy to Weevil.

Pegasus: Congratulations.

Weevil: Uh, thank you.

Weevil takes the trophy as he looks at Pegasus as he stands up.

Pegasus: And as regional champion, I invite you to compete in a bold new tournament I'm hosting at Duelist Kingdom.

Y/n looks at the screen in interest as he thinks about the tournament.

Y/n: A new tournament? Why so soon?

Grandpa: Ha! With all the excitement of the championships, you forgot to open your package, Y/n.

The group looks back at the box as Y/n starts to open it and sees a red glove with a silver band having ten star shaped holes in it along with a VHS tape and two gold star chips.

Tea: It's some kind of glove.

Joey: And stars.

Tristan: Maybe there's an explanation on the video.

Y/n picks up the tape as he turns towards the tv and puts in in the VHS player. The tv goes static as the group gathered in front of the tv. The screen skins shows Pegasus looking towards the group.

Pegasus: Greetings, Young Y/n. I am Maximillion Pegasus.

Joey: Pegasus?

Ruby: But we just saw him on the tv.

Pegasus: I have heard some terribly interesting things about you, Y/n. Your impressive defeat of Seto Kaiba intrigued me so much, I've decided to investigate your amazing dueling skills personally. Right here, right now, we shall hold a special duel. We'll play with a strict time limit of 15 minutes, and when times up, the player with the highest life points will be the winner. Are you ready?

Y/n: How does he expect me to duel a video?

Tristan: That's crazy.

Pegasus laughs as he lifts his head to reveal a gold eye under his hair as it starts to glow.

Pegasus: No, it's magic!

The group looks in shock as everyone but Y/n freezes in time as his surroundings turn dark.

Y/n: What the hell?

Something glows under Y/n as he looks towards the Millenium Puzzle.

Y/n: That's right, Yugi gave me his Millenium Puzzle.

Y/n closes his eyes as he concentrates and contacts the Pharaoh.

Y/n: Pharaoh, are you there?

Pharaoh: Yes, I am here. Be careful Y/n, we have just entered a shadow game.

Y/n: Shadow game?

Pharaoh: Yes, so be on your guard.

Y/n: All right Pegasus, let's duel!

Y/n sets up a duel board as he shovels his deck and places it down.

Y/n: Start the clock and make your move, Pegasus.

Pegasus: Certainly, let's begin.

The timer starts as the two draw five cards from their decks. Pegasus sets a card face down as he keeps his smirk on his face.

Pegasus: Nervous, Y/n-Boy? You should be. You have never faced a duelist like me before.

Y/n smirks as he picks up a card and looks at Pegasus.

Y/n: We will see about that. But I will beat you to save my friends! I'll play my Magicians Valkyria in attack mode!

Magicians Valkyria appears in the field as she holds her staff in front of her. Y/n looked in shock as his monster was no longer a hologram but a real monster.

Pegasus: Just as I predicted, I activate my trap, Magician Restraint. This removes your monster from the game for three turns.

Three chains emerge below Valkyria as she is entangled in them and dragged into the board as she soon disappears.

Y/n: No!

Pegasus: I told you you've never faced a duelist like me before. I know every move you'll make, before you can even make it. Knowing every move you'll make gives me a distinct advantage, wouldn't you say?

Y/n: What?!

Pegasus: Face it, I am nothing like Seto Kaiba and I will not go down so easily.

Y/n grits his teeth as he clenches the cards in his hands tightly.

Y/n: This is crazy! If he can read my mind like this, there's no way I can win.

Pegasus: This dark dimension we're in is known as the " Shadow Realm", a mystical place where incredible monsters can be summoned and the impossible is quite possible. *draws card*

Y/n: That can't be true!

Pegasus: Tell me Y/n, do you believe there is magic in these cards?

Y/n: Don't you know? You invented this game?

Pegasus: What if I told you I didn't?

Y/n looks at Pegasus in confusion as he smirks.

Pegasus: In ancient times, the Egyptians called this the Shadow Game. Powerful pharaohs would hold mystical duels in other dimensions just as we're doing now, but not with cards. They battled with real monsters and real magic. Magical forces so powerful, the Egyptians lost control of them and nearly destroyed the entire world.

Y/n: That's a good story, Pegasus, but there's no way these monsters can be real.

Pegasus: We will see, but first I'll activate the magic card, Magician's Curse. When there is a spellcaster type monster removed from play, the owner of that monster takes 500 points of damage.

Y/n looks in shock as a purple circle appears in front of him before shocking him with lighting.

Y/n: Gah!

Y/n - 1500

Y/n growls as he scowls at Pegasus who keeps his smirk.

Pegasus: Ah, young Y/n, you really are quite entertaining. The way you scowl and sneer, so defiant and yet helpless. And so completely ignorant to the power of the Millennium Puzzle Yugi boy gave you.

Y/n: What?

Pegasus: Five thousand years ago, a powerful pharaoh locked the magic of the Shadow Games away.

Y/n: But what does that have to do with the Millennium Puzzle?

Pegasus: The pharaoh captured these vast magical energies in seven mystical Millennium Items.

Y/n: Seven items? Your saying that this puzzle is one of them?

Pegasus: Yes and there are mystical energies locked within it. Magic that could change your life forever if you only knew how to unleash it.

Y/n: But why tell me this? I'm not even the owner of this puzzle.

Pegasus: Simply because I need you to know. But perhaps I have said to much, and since the clock is still ticking, I propose we resume playing our little duel. So I will summon a Horned Imp, in attack mode.

A grey imp appears as it roars onto the field as it holds its claws in front of its body.

Y/n: He's right, and with time running out I still don't know if he can really read my mind.

Pharaoh: Calm yourself, Y/n. Focus on the battle at hand.

Pegasus smirks as he moves his hair revealing a Millennium eye as a vision of Breaker the Magical Warrior appears.

Y/n: I've got to do something, maybe Breaker can help me out.

Y/n grabs the card that belongs to said monster as Pegasus chuckles before Y/m stops and looks at him.

Y/n: Wait a minute. He definitely knows what I'm about to do, but how?

Pharaoh: It May have something to do with the eye he has.

Y/n: That's it! That eye of his must tell him what card I'm going to play next. That's how he's one step ahead, but that gives me an idea!

Pegasus: Hurry up, now, Young Y/n. Time is running out for you and your friends.

Y/n: Pegasus is expecting me to play one of the cards in my hand, but if I draw a card, I won't know what it is until I look at it. I can draw and then set it so he or I won't know what it is.

Y/n draws a card as he sets it down in the monster zone of the board.

Pegasus: I already know you plan to play Breaker the Magical Warrior, and I'm already prepared with a trap card that will make your magician lose all of his powers.

Y/n smirks as it shocks Pegasus.

Y/n: I've figure out your little game, Pegasus. You may be able to see the cards in my hand, but you can't see the cards I pull from my deck.

Pegasus: Hmm?

Y/n: My next card is...

Y/n flips his card as it was the Dark Magician card as he smirks.

Y/n: The Dark Magician!

Pegasus: Ooh, a big, scary Dark Magician.

Y/n: Mock me all you like, Pegasus, but my magician will obliterate that Horn Imp.

Pegasus looks at Y/n in anger as he claimed down a little.

Pegasus: Go right ahead of you think it'll help.

Y/n: It's gonna do more than that, Pegasus. It'll bring you closer to defeat and bring me closer to saving my friends.

Pegasus: If it can do all that, by all means, play it.

Y/n: Dark Magician!

A wind funnel shoots out of the card as Dark Magician emerges from it as he spins his staff.

Y/n: Dark Magic Attack!

Dark Magician holds his hand forwards as a shockwave of negative energy hits the imp blowing it into pixelated dots. Pegasus holds his hand in front of his face as he groans in pain from the blast.

Pegasus - 0800

Pegasus smirks as he moves his hand and laughs maniacally as he looks at Y/n.

Pegasus: Nicely played, but by using your Dark Magician, you've let me manipulate you once again.

Y/n: What?!

Pegasus: By playing that one card, you have insured my victory.

Y/n: No.

Pegasus: We shall see, young Y/n.

Pegasus draws a card as he looks at it and smirks before acting shocked.

Pegasus: Oh, a very rare card. This is the fearsome Faceless Mage.

Pegasus shows the card to Y/n to reveal a magician with three heads as one was the head of a girl and the second was the head of a boy as the one in between was blank.

Y/n: I've never seen or heard of that card before, but my Dark Magician is one of the strongest magic cards in the game!

Pegasus: But how will he fare once I combine my Faceless Mage with the equally rare Eye of Illusion?

Pegasus places the two cards down as mage appears cackling at Y/n as he glares at it.

Y/n: Dark Magician, Dark Magic Attack!

The Dark Magician fires another wave of negative energy at the Faceless Mage who holds up its hands as a Egyptian eye appears counteracting the blast creating a smirk screen.

Y/n: Dark Magician!

The smoke begins to clear as both monsters appear to be unharmed.

Y/n: My attack had no affect?!

Y/n looks in shock as Pegasus silently chuckles to himself.

Y/n: Your Faceless Mage should have been destroyed, but it's still standing and I'm almost out of time.

Y/n looks down at the times as it was at the five minute mark.

Y/n: I'm up by 700 life points, but only because I'm being toyed with! I have to find a way to beat him at his own Shadow Game.

Pharaoh: What we need is a monster powerful enough to destroy his mage. The Dark Magician is strong but we will need another.

Y/n draws a card as he places it down on the board.

Y/n: I'll play another, Magician's Valkyria, and Your trap card loses its effect now so the first shall now return!

The two magicians appear as they put their staffs together in a X formation.

Y/n: With these two, your monster will be destroyed!

Pegasus: True, your magicians are mighty, but once again you underestimated the incredible power of my Eye of Illusion. Ha ha!

Y/n: No!

Pegasus: Dark Magic Attack!

A purple energy ball shoots to the second Magician's Valkyria destroying it as Y/n covers his face from the explosion.

Y/n - 0600

Y/n: There's no way! Your mage doesn't have a Dark Magic attack. Wait...

Y/n looks in shock as his Dark Magician appeared on Pegasus's field with a glowing Egyptian eye on his chest as his eyes were blue.

Y/n: It was my own Dark Magician...Pegasus is controlling him with the Eye of Illusion. But if he's using its magic to control my magician, what's protecting his mage?

Pegasus: Well, Y/n, our time together is nearly up, as I have more life points than you, it's appears that I am the victor.

Y/n: Not just yet, Pegasus. I still have ten seconds to play and you've left your mage for a physical assault!

Pegasus growls as Y/n holds up Breakers card and sets it down.
