You weren't prepared for the impact that struck your face. You fall hard to the ground with a thud, and a mouthful of dirt.

The first thing you see is the color red. The dirt that covers your body, the leaves you crunch as you stand up, and the bark of the trees of the forest that was previously hidden from view behind the wall of the garden.

You are now on the outside of the castle walls.

The door behind you had closed shut, blocking you from the safety of indoors.

Now you get a closer look at the surrealism that is nature. Crimson dirt makes a narrow trail leading from the secret door into the thick red woods. You want to follow it to see where it leads.

But you know it's a bad idea, and the back of your mind is telling you not to continue. To go back into the castle and make cookies or something. What if Anti is in the woods lurking in the dark?

Dark was probably telling you to stay within the castle walls for a reason. He said you would be safe as long as you stayed with him.

I shouldn't be doing this.

But you do anyways, and step into the forest.

You look behind you and see that the door is hidden again from the tall weeds and hanging vines, but you know that you will be able to find it again with the path.

All trees surround you and above you, the light from an unknown source reflects a red tint onto your skin, and the pitch black sky gives you no sense of direction.

A few rustles in the leaves here and there make you jump, but they're gone within seconds. You keep moving.

There aren't any animals like you expect. Well, at least you haven't seen any. That's probably why it's so quiet. No squirrels, birds, or even bugs. It makes you wonder what makes the rustling noises in the distance.

What if Anti really is in these woods? What if he knows you aren't back in the real world, and that Dark is hiding you?

You bite the inside of your cheek. Maybe you should just turn around. You haven't been in this world for one full day and you aren't familiar with how things work. You're not ready to explore.

You turn a 180 and start to walk back, but you almost run right into a tree trunk.

That tree wasn't there before. If it was, then you would have had to walk right through it.

You look for the path of red dirt, but somehow, it is nowhere to be seen.

You were following it all along, how could it have disappeared. You weren't distracted from where you were going.

You look back the direction you were originally heading, and the red path is still there, but everything behind you: gone. No path. Just trees.

I'm lost.

Then you just start walking, trying to see if you can find the castle walls looming above the trees, but the leaves and branches are too thick.

Then you break into a jog, dodging branches and jumping over fallen logs, running in a straight line. But you know what they say, even if you try to walk in a straight line in a woods, you will still get lost.

Run.

You speed up in fear, now no longer trying to run straight. You just need to get out of the woods. He is here. He is everywhere.

Then suddenly, your body slams into another large figure. You fall the the ground, head spinning, and heavy. Your chest hurts from the impact.

You look up and make out a person figure from your blurry vision, and immediately try to crawl away. You're just about to take off when a familiar voice says.

"Hellooooo. Who is that?"

You turn back and notice that it is not Anti you just ran into. It's a man who looks very similar to Dark. Or Mark you should say. Same figure, black hair, a little scruff, but this one has glasses and a blue shirt with an all-too-familiar large "G" in the center.

"...G-Googleplier...?" Your shock leaves you even more breathless than the impact.

"That answer is invalid. That is my name. would you like me to repeat the question?" His voice is robotic and his mannerism is still, with very little movement and tiny shifts in his head.

"Ah- no. No, I just-" you're at a loss for words. His expressionless face makes you uneasy. "I- I'm just lost. I need to get back to Darkiplier's castle. Can you help me?"

Google takes robotic steps towards you with a purpose. He stops too close, and leans down to get a better look at your face. You take a tiny, uncomfortable step back.

"I have never seen you before, and you are not located in my database. You don't have the mannerism of an ego. Who are you?"

You get nervous. You probably shouldn't tell him you are actually human. Especially if his secondary objective is to destroy mankind.

You think of something quick. "I- uh. I'm a new ego. And I am on specific  business for Darkiplier. So it would be great if I could just get back to-" you turn to leave, but he grabs hold of both your arm and puts you back in front if him.

He furrows his brows. "By the way you are stuttering, and trying to avoid my question, I can conclude that you are indeed, lying."

You sigh in defeat.

"But you are telling the truth that you need to get back to Darkiplier's castle, so I shall show you back."

Your face lights up. "Oh! Uh... thank you!"

He stiffly turns and walks away. You are subjected to follow.

"Inform me, stranger," he turns his head to look at you. "Who are you, so I can add you to my database?"

You hesitate to reply. I mean, might as well tell him. What is going going to do to you? He is helping you after all.

"Um. Well... Truth be told: I'm not an ego. I'm actually human."

He gives you a side eye.

"And I was taken from my word, and transported to this one by Dark." You sigh. "It's a long story..."

"You're (Y/n). You're the girl Antisepticeye wanted for his own. He wanted to give you a piece of his soul so he could live forever and still have access to both universes."

He does know you.

"H-How-?"

"Everybody knows who you are. We all know what Anti is up to because he is the reason this world is in peril."

"So you hate him?"

"We can not hate him because he kills those that do."

"...oh. But if you know who I am, how did you not recognize me when I ran into you?"

"We have only heard of you. Not seen you."

So all the egos know who you are. Great. At least they won't recognize you.

Google walks on, he seems to know where he is going. His movements are robotic, but more human than not because of the way he swings his arms with each step, but it's not hard to tell that his steps are each taken at an equal distance and a consistent pace. No falters. He looks dead ahead.

"May I ask what you were doing in the woods before I ran into you?"

"I was just going on a stroll. There isn't much to do here when we are not needed back in the real world, so I typically enjoy walks in the monochrome scenery."

"But the scenery just changed on me. When I turned back the way I came from, the path was gone."

"These woods are no ordinary woods. It has a mind of its own. Just like the rest of this world. There's no Wikipedia page to explain it, it is just known that it can decide to change and manipulate it's surroundings as it wishes."

"So how do you know where you are going?"

"Google maps."

"Ah. How is there google maps here in an alternate universe? I'm sure we would have spotted it if this place existed on the app."

"Have you ever tried searching the coordinates?"

You're at a loss of words.

You turn your attention to the sky, the black void it is. It still devises many questions on how this world works. Where does the light come from if there is no sun? How is time told?

Fuck. How is time told? What if Dark came back and knows you're missing?

"Google," you say with urgency, "how much further are we? What if Dark returned from his trip and found out I'm no longer there? What if-"

"The answer to your question is: Darkiplier leaves the castle at Wake and does not return until after Mid-Wake."

"Mid-wake- what? What does that mean?"

"There are three times of a 'day' here in the Other World: Wake is the time when those who need to sleep wake up. Mid-Wake is the time that is close to supper for those who need to eat. Fall is period where those egos who need sleep can do so."

This fills you with bewilderment, and he continues. "See, there are some egos here that need sleep, but not everybody does. That is what Fall is for. There is no time, but there needs to be distinct periods for all egos to adapt. The longer you are here, the more you will get a feel for what period is approaching when. And right now, it is just nearing Mid-Wake, so let us continue forward and get you back."

You nod, though he can not see you for you are right behind him. This world is fascinating, but beyond comprehension. How are you talking to Googleplier? How is it even possible to be talking to them?

Then the answer hits you that it's probably just as possible as it is to talk to Anti.

Then you fear if Dark will find out about your whereabouts. He said that he'll know if you do something you're not supposed to. Your stomach fills with dread. He could be waiting for you at the garden doors just waiting to snatch you up, yell in your face a bit, then sacrifice you to Anti.

But Google says he doesn't return for a little bit, so that's the only hope that is keeping you going.

You reach the door, path still there and covered in roots. You look into the windows on the castle looming behind the wall and see that there are no lights on as you can see.

Google looks up as well. "I have always admired his castle. Never been inside."

"It's beautiful. But it can get to be lonesome when you don't see anyone other than Dark. Here in the woods, I could meet anyone. Even the trees themselves have a personality."

Then an idea hits you. You turn to Google. "What I just... happened to stumble into the woods again by accident..."

He gives an almost human look of confusion.

"Tomorrow... perhaps... Would you -ah- be here?"

For the first time since you have met Google, he smiles. "Did you mean: 'I am showing up again tomorrow and I want to see you again?'"

Before you can respond, he says, "To answer your question, my answer is 'yes.'"

You smile and head back through the door. Before you close it you say to him, "Thank you."  Then you bid him farewell and reenter the garden.
