He was the one. And you knew it from the very beginning.
You were the definition of a healthy relationship. It is one that is built on a strong foundation of trust, communication, and affection. It's a relationship where both partners feel safe, loved, and respected, and where they work together to overcome obstacles and build happy memories. It's a relationship where both partners support one another through thick and thin, and where they grow and evolve together over time. It's a relationship where both partners feel empowered and fulfilled, and where they can express themselves freely without fear of judgment or disapproval. It's a relationship where both partners are constantly learning from one another, and where they feel grateful and thankful for the love they share. It's a relationship where both partners feel that they're part of something special and meaningful, and where they have a deep sense of connection and closeness. A healthy relationship is one that is truly a blessing, and one that everyone deserves to experience at least once in their lifetime. You learned that throughout your love life.
Thomas was your first love. The first love is a special thing, it's something you're never going to forget. The memories and emotions will always be there. It's a unique and precious experience that you'll never experience again. It's a time that's filled with hope, excitement, and anticipation, but also with nerves and uncertainty. It's a time when everything is new and exciting, where every moment feels important and meaningful. It's a time when you're willing to do anything to make the other person happy and when you truly believe that love can conquer all. When you think back on your first love, you can't help but feel a mixture of nostalgia, happiness, and sadness all at once. It's a beautiful thing, but it's also a bittersweet memory. You remembered him waiting for you after class. Discovering things together, building a future slowly. Making your dreams come true.
He was your discovery of love and it was rather intense. But...
The rock star lifestyle is a demanding and intense one, and it can take a toll on your relationship. As your lover's career takes off and he spends more time on the road, you can't help but feel a growing sense of distance between the two of you. It's hard to compete with the adoration of thousands of fans, and it's hard to compete with the excitement of playing in front of sold-out crowds. You find yourself waiting for calls and texts that never come, and you find yourself feeling alone in a way you never have before. It's not that you don't want Thomas to succeed - you do - but at the same time, you can't help but feel like you're being left behind. You don't know how to navigate this new dynamic, and you feel like you're losing the person you thought you knew.
As the guitar chords of his new song filled the air, you couldn't help but feel a pang of sadness in your heart. Your lover, once so dedicated to your relationship, now seemed to be slipping away, consumed by his work as a rock star. The late nights on tour, the endless press interviews, and the adoring fans made it difficult for you to compete with his newfound fame. You felt like a shadow, a ghost of his past, a reminder of a time before he was famous.
You knew that you couldn't hold him back, that you couldn't ask him to give up his dreams. But it was impossible not to feel hurt and betrayed, to feel like your relationship was nothing but a casualty of his success. As he walked out the door, you couldn't help but wonder if you would ever see him again, if he would ever come back to you.
But you kept going. Not ready to let go of this. It was your first and you were always sure it would be your last. But things get even worse and he's slipping through your finger. You call him one night, suggesting watching a movie while he's back in town and he tiredly agrees.
As you drive down the highway at midnight, you find yourself lost in the lyrics of "Midnight Rain" by Taylor Swift. The song speaks of a relationship that was once full of passion, but has since become empty and hollow. As you listen to the words, you find yourself comparing your own relationship to the one in the song. You realize that you and Thomas have grown apart and that something is missing.
You pull off the highway and find a quiet spot to park. You turn up the volume of the song and let the lyrics wash over you. For the first time in a long time, you allow yourselves to truly feel what's missing in your relationship.
You remember the spark that used to exist between you and your boyfriend, the way his smile used to light up your world, and the way you used to be able to talk for hours without getting tired. You realize that the passion and spark in your relationship has faded over the years and you've both become complacent.
As the tears start to fall, you realize that you need to have a honest conversation with your partner about the state of your relationship. You know that it won't be an easy conversation, but you also know that it needs to be had if you want any chance of salvaging what you once had.
You come into the house, with red eyes and you call him. He hums, signalling you he's in the kitchen. He doesn't look up from his phone when you enter. You close the door behind you and he final looks up. He notices your red eyes right away and know what's to come. He sighs and burrys his face in his hands. This is gonna be a long night for the two of you.
He was just the right person, at the wrong time.
For the next year, you're miserable, thinking he's at every corner. Some fans harassing you, rumors of one of you cheating. You cut off every of your social media and go back to hide into the family house in the depths of the Italian campaign.
It's not any better for him. He has trouble to make some energetic ballads. He's always tired because he doesn't want to sleep since you haunt his dreams. He doesn't make as much socializing with the fans as he used to. It looks like he's falling out of live with what he's doing. And the group can't do anything about it. You refuse any contact, even from afar with him. It's over.
One day, you're in LA with your friends since they want you to get over him. But you can't really get over your first love, your right person. You walk ahead of the group while they wander off a little and you found yourself on Melrose Avenue you make a double take when you spot a boy looking just like Thomas from behind. Your heart squeezes at the thought that even after a year, you're still longing for him.
You come back that night and sit in front of your friend's piano. They all lay here, knowing many tears would be spilled, but for the better.
The group is in NYC for the producing of a song and they're all staying in a appartement. It's the morning in the Big Apple. Thomas smokes his cigarette with Damiano, slouching over the balcony. A habit his friend used to take so he would look out for any outburst of anger since the breakup. "You're okay- actually, don't answer that. We all know the answer. It can't go on like that Thomas..." The blonde laughs bitterly while puffing. "No you don't know anything. You don't know that pain. The pain of finding the right person at the wrong time is a pain like no other. It's a pain that can make you feel like you're being torn apart, like you're being shredded like cheese. The pain of knowing that you found the right person, but that the timing just wasn't right, is more painful than anything else in the world. It's a pain that can make you want to scream and cry and shout until you have no voice left. It's a pain that leaves you feeling helpless, feeling like there's nothing you can do to change the circumstances. It's a pain that makes every memory with them feel like a sharp-edged sword, tearing at your heart. It's a pain that's filled with frustration, because you know that in a different world, in a different time, everything could be so different. It's a pain that leaves you feeling lost and alone, feeling like you'll never find someone like them again. It's a pain that makes you wonder if you'll ever be whole again, if you'll ever be able to fully move on." Thomas catches his breath after his long rant. Damiano stares at him, surprised because it had been month since he expressed his feeling so openly. "It's a pain that's unique to those who have experienced it, and it's a pain that never truly goes away."
The singer was about to speak when Ethan . "Thomas..." Ethan came into the room looking sad. "She's on the radio..." It took him a few seconds to understand and Damiano already had put on the radio. There was a soft melancholic part.
I made a promise
To distance myself
Took a flight, through aurora skies
Honestly, I didn't think about
How we didn't say goodbye
Just see you very soon
It hurts to be something
It's worse to be nothing with you, mmm
So I didn't call you
For sixteen long days
And I should get a cigarette
For so much restraint
No matter how long I resist temptation
I've done the math
There's no solution
We'll never last
Why can't I let go of this?
So I broke my promise
I called you last night
I shouldn't have, I wouldn't have
If it weren't for the sight of a boy
Who looked just like you
Standing out on Melrose Avenue
It hurts to be something
It's worse to be nothing with you, mmm
It hurts to be something
It's worse to be nothing with you
He didn't realize he had been crying until he felt the tingly feeling of tears running down his cheeks. He had to contact her, to get her back. He was going absolutely crazy. He leaves the room and grab his phone, texting you a thousand times about the song. You finally answer his calls. You didn't want time to breath that he started to speak.
"You're my right person too. And it kills me that I can't have you. I live you more than I love life and I dream of a world where we would be happy together. But then I wake up with nothing but cold where you should be. Please come back to me. I can't do it anymore." He begged and begged over the phone. "Thomas..." He stopped, it was the first time he heard the sound of your voice in a year, especially talking to him. "We shouldn't. We're only hurting ourselves. We're perfect for each other and we know it. But look at you, I want it comfortable and you want your music. I'm ready to settle and you're just beginning to fly away. We can't Thomas. Not right now." He remained silent, understanding your point.
"Why did we have to grow up ? I just want my n/n back..." He sigh so deeply you're sure he emptied his lungs. "I hope that one day the timing will be right and we can try again. I still have a lot of love for you." You smiled with tears in your eyes. "Ti amo anch'io amore. But I also have learned to love myself and understand that I am enough on my own. It's a difficult balance to strike, but it's one that I believe is important." Silence on the line. "Will you wait for me?" His voice broke with emotion and you had take everything in you to not burst into tears. "All my life if I have too." "All my life..." He repeated quietly, his voice lacing with sadness.
"I have to go but- take care of yourself Thomas. You're born for this, embrace it."
He nodded even when you couldn't see him. "Will do. And...when the time comes. I'll meet you on Melrose Avenue." Your breath hitched a little. "I'll hold you to that." A tear slipped out. "Goodbye n/n..." "Goodbye Tommy..." You used those nicknames back in highschool. You heard the other end go dead. You burst into tears not knowing what to feel. What you knew was, he would wait for you and he would become your right time.
