Mal and Ben were in Mal and Evie's dorm room, talking about stuff. Somehow they began talking about the time Mal had rescued Ben from the isle.

"Next time I'll rescue you, okay?" Ben laughed.

"You said that last time too, and how did that work out for you again" Mal responded.

Ben thought for a little while, and then he said, "Well... yeah you're right. But next time!"

Mal laughed, "Let's just hope there won't be a next time."

Suddenly Evie came storming through the door, "It's unbelievable," she said, "Chad and Audrey are together again."

Both Mal and Ben stared at her like they'd just seen a ghost. "Cool," Ben said.

"Yeah Awesome," Mal said.

Evie laughed. "You should have seen them, it was so much fun."

"Um Mal," Ben said, "I have an appointment with my mom, see you later?"

"Yeah see you later."

He gave her a quick kiss on the cheek, before he left.

"You two are so cute," Evie said, when he was out the door.

Mal blushed a little, "I know."

Later that day Mal decided to go for walk, maybe she could find something interesting to tell Ben about.

She went to the forest, and soon ended up by the enchanted lake. She smiled to herself.
So much had happened since that day, their first date. Now they were engaged to be engaged to be engaged, whatever that meant. She hadn't learnt to swim yet, she suddenly remembered. Maybe she should put that on her to do list.

She walked down to sit by the water. She looked up at where Ben had jumped from, with his short with crowns on. She laughed to herself, when she remembered that.

That's when she saw the fancy rock, he had handed her. She didn't even wish something back then, she remembered. She had been so mad, that she'd just thrown it back in the lake. She picked it up, and looked at it. Make a wish and throw it back in the lake.

She didn't really know what to wish for, so she just kept it in her hand for a little while.

She didn't really know how long she sat there, but it slowly began to get darker, so she figured she'd probably get back, before she couldn't see where she was going.

She was about to go, when she remembered the rock. "I wish that Ben has nothing to do when I come back."

It was a really dumb wish, but she just didn't know what else to wish for. So better wish something than nothing.

When she was on her way back, it began to get darker, and she figured out she couldn't remember what way she went.

I am not getting stuck in this forest, she thought. But apparently she was.
-

It was getting dark outside, and most of the school had already went to bed. But Ben was still up, and so was Evie. They couldn't find Mal.

"You think she went outside?" Evie asked.

"I don't see where else she could be." Ben answered. "Should we go look for her."

"I don't know, she's probably on her way." Evie paused, "And if you think she is afraid of the dark, you're wrong. She grew up on the isle, it's literally always kind of dark there."

"I didn't think she was," Ben protested, "I just don't understand what would keep her out this long."

Evie thought about it for a little while before saying, "Just go to bed Ben, I will wait for her."

"Okay," Ben said, even know he didn't really like the idea. He just had this weird feeling that he should worry.
-

She wasn't really afraid, not even about not finding her way back. Nothing bad would happen in this forest, it was Auradon, the worst that could happen was that she would have to stay out there all night. Then the others would probably worry about her, but that couldn't harm them.

She began to get really tired, and decided just to find a place to go to sleep, when she suddenly felt the ground disappear under her feets.
-

Around midnight Ben heard someone knock on his door. He hurried up to open, hoping it was Mal. But it was Evie.

"Is she back?" Ben asked.

"No, this is not like her. Maybe she can't find her way back." Evie said.

Ben thought about it for a while, before coming to the conclusion that Evie probably was right. "Maybe we should go look for her," he said, "I won't let her stay outside all night."

"Yeah," Evie said, "but we probably can't find her either, and then we're just three people stuck outside in the dark. And Mal knows how to take care of herself."

"I just want to protect her," Ben protested.

"I know, but you've been on the isle, you know what it's like. Believe me she's not even worrying right now. Let's just wait until sunset before looking for her."

Ben nodded, but when she was out of sight, he grabbed his jacket and a flashlight and went out to look for her.

He had a feeling that she would be in the forest, most of all because she probably would have found her way back, if there wasn't trees blocking the way, so it was basically the only place she could get lost.
-

She screamed because of the shock, but even more when she found out she was falling right into some water. She panicked, trying to keep floating, but it seemed impossible. She couldn't see where the water ended, but she could feel the current dragging her with it. It wasn't fast, but enough so that she couldn't stand still.
-

He heard a scream, and knew it was Mal. What the hell could have happened? Nothing happens in this forest. He followed the sound of her scream, and could suddenly hear the sound of the river. He hurried down to it, still following the sound of Mal's scream, although it seemed like she was about to stop. He pointed the flashlight out into the water, and saw Mal trying to keep above water. He walked out into the water, surprised to discover that it only reach to the middle of his stomach.

He reached Mal and carried her back to the shore. When she was safe on land, he couldn't help but laugh.

"What are you laughing about?" Mal asked.

"Nothing," he said, "You're just cute."

Mal glared at him. "I can't swim, you know that," she said.

"Yeah, I know," he laughed, "I just thought that you could walk on the bottom."

She glared at him again, "I didn't know how deep it was!"

"I know," he laughed, "That's what's funny about it."

"You're so cruel, I thought I was dying."

Ben stopped laughing, "I'm sorry." He gave her his jacket, and they began walking back to the school.
-

When they reached Mal's dorm room, Ben said: "I said I would rescue you next time."

Mal glared at him again. "Haha."

"What? It's true. Even know you probably would have found out sooner or later, that you could just walk out. But I saved you the trouble."

"I love you Ben," she said, and before he could answer she kissed him on the lips.

When they pulled away, Ben said: "I love you too. Goodnight."

"Goodnight," Mal said, and went into her dorm room.

"Mal!" Evie yelled, "Where were you?"

"Um... I just couldn't find my way back."

"You're soaking wet," Evie said, when she tried to give her a hug.

"Yeah, and I took a little bath on my way."

Mal went to the bathroom to get changed, and when she finally went to bed she thought about Ben.
