He peered through the rain drenched window, muttering something about chaos softly to himself. "Absolutely delusional," Ellie thought, "Why on earth would Nedry shut down the gates?" Although, Ellie wasn't new to being stabbed in the back, the only thing she wanted to know was why. Hammond remarked, "This just isn't like him, what in the name of all that's good would drive any man to risk, not only their own lives, but the lives of those who he was associated with?" To which Ian replied, "Come on John, didn't you see the signs? It's common among people to forget about uh, wh-what their doing, what their purpose is, and um, accept some, some bribe and well, I guess it's just another lesson I tried to teach to you early on, okay John? It uh well it's just that you didn't learn for yourselves, and you stood-" he was cut off my Hammond who, with an angered tone repeated the words that Malcolm had stated not 24 hours before,"Yes I know that now Malcolm, I made a mistake, we stood on the shoulders of geniuses and we took the next step." "Yeah, yeah but did you learn from your mistake?" "Yes I most certainly did!" Ian spoke a bit softer now because he didn't want to attract any unwanted attention, "Look around John, your mistake... has cost others."

Even though it had been three months since Ian Malcolm had been sent to Isla Sorna to study the behavior of dinosaurs, he still couldn't get the thoughts out of his mind. He felt trapped. Even guilty. About a month later he had a falling out with his girlfriend Sarah Harding. She said, "She didn't feel safe with him." He pounded his fist on the windowsill. People who knew him were starting to believe that he had fallen into a state of depression, and they blamed Hammond for it. Ian knew this was not the exact truth, although he did blame the old man for his dilemma somewhat. After all, if Hammond had never used his cloning technology to, once again, create dinosaurs he never would have gone to that park and become (in the eyes of those who didn't know him) some sort of mad survivor of the mess. Snapping out of his daydream, Malcolm felt a buzzing in his pocket. He checked his phone, but what he saw, intrigued him.

The screen read, 'Unknown'. Malcolm didn't usually check unknown numbers, he had his varying reasons as to why, but for some reason, he decided to anyway. The message that appeared said:

Dr. Malcolm,

Sorry to bother you, we were hoping for a meeting with you on July Seventh at 9:30 a.m. Please contact us if you will be available then.

Best regards, The Lockwood Estate.

"The Lockwood Estate? Why would they need to see me?" Malcolm checked his calendar and realized that on July Seventh, he was scheduled to give a lecture at the Stanford University. He also wondered why they had contacted him so last minute. Usually, The Lockwoods tried to remain very professional. So they hardly ever met up with anyone unless it was extremely important. Even then, they called months in advance. Of course, this raised a few red flags, but seeing that he didn't have anything important going on, Malcolm decided he would cancel the lecture and make the trip down to California.
