Six Days Later

"Wooo! More dream yoga!"

Namjoon watches in amusement as the girl does little front flips in mid-air. They're slow, but they look like a lot of fun. Knowing Namjoon, he'd break his spleen, so he decides against joining in on the fun. Besides, he has too much going on in his mind.

Tomorrow he meets Mr. Park for the first time. Part of him wants to bring it up to Y/n, but the other part wants it to be a surprise.

Tomorrow could be the moment of truth for them. Are they real? Well, Namjoon knows he's real, but what about her? So, he decides to be subtle instead.

Or, at least, as subtle as Kim Namjoon can be.

"Hey Y/n?" he asks. She hums, floating upside down while she observes him. "What are you doing tomorrow night?"

She comes back to the ground and lands on the grass with her bare feet. "Visiting my grandparents, why?"

Namjoon raises a brow. "You're not hanging out with Jimin?"

"Ah, he said something about going out with the boys, but I told him to enjoy it. Sounds like a guys thing." She pauses for a moment. "Wait, why?"

Namjoon shrugs. "Just wondering. You don't talk about him much. I figured since you two are best friends, you'd be hanging out more."

So Jimin invites his closest friends to come meet Yoongi, but she's not involved? Sure. That makes sense.

"We hang out pretty much every day, but I haven't seen my grandparents in a while. Thought 'why not', you know?" she says.

Namjoon hums in understanding. Then, he looks at her curiously and fires out a question he didn't mean to say. "How much does he mean to you?"

She stiffens for a beat. Her eyes widen and her lips twitch into a small smile, almost as if she's hiding it. "He's... everything. He's my closest friend ever. And I mean ever. He's seen me at my best and worse, and I've seen the same of him. Without him, I'd be a mess, that's for sure. I may make jokes and poke fun at him, but I can't live without him. He's like my soulmate, but not in a love way, in a friendship way."

Namjoon nods, absorbing her words as she chuckles and continues.

"But whenever I say that, he always replies with 'sorry, my soulmate is Taehyung'. He's mostly just joking, but I still find it pretty funny."

Namjoon finds himself smiling before he can stop himself. She gazes out at the horizon, and he adores the way the colors of pinks and greens and blues mesh with her skin. In the lighting, she looks like an angel.

"You know, back when we were kids, I actually had feelings for him. How could I not? He had this way of lighting up an entire room. You don't seem to like him very much, but I promise, he's a great guy. He takes care of those he loves. Like he took care of me," she says, trailing off.

She keeps her head in the clouds, a dumb grin on her face. He takes a mental picture of her expression so he can admire it more later.

"I wish I had someone like that," Namjoon mutters. "Someone who loves me unconditionally. Someone who'll take care of me."

Y/n turns to him and comes closer. "What if someone like that is closer than you think?"

His eyes widen, but she doesn't say anything else. She shifts back to the sky and takes in the sights. Well, it's safe to say Namjoon is caught in her spell.

And it's not going away anytime soon...

KJN Corporations

"Please?"

Namjoon resists the urge to bury his face into his hands. "You want me to go with you to see your boyfriend?"

Yoongi does something Namjoon never thought he'd see: he pouts. "Please?" Yoongi asks.

Well, so much for seeing Mr. Park for the first time tomorrow.

"I know you don't want to handle these meetings yourself, but Jin's sick and wants to recover in time for tomorrow night," Yoongi adds.

The whole hangout session Mr. Park planned seems to have all the boys on edge. Not in a bad way, just in a protective way. Like a 'you better take care of Yoongi or we'll break your face' way. Namjoon personally wants to meet Mr. Park tomorrow and not in a business meeting like Yoongi is offering now, but he'll do what he has to do.

"Fine, I'll go," Namjoon mumbles, which is enough to make Yoongi light up.

"Thank you sir, we leave in ten minutes to get there in time."

"Ten minutes? Wow, really giving me time to prepare huh?" Namjoon jokes.

To his surprise, Yoongi cracks a smile at the joke.

"Sorry sir, you know me. I sleep until the very last minute."

Namjoon snickers. Well, he can't argue with that one. "Speaking of, go relax for those ten minutes. You'll need it for when you're panicking in front of Mr. Park."

Yoongi playfully scoffs. "I won't be panicking at all, I'll have you know."

Uh huh. Sure.

"Alright, I'll believe you. Go ahead, I'll meet you in the lobby in ten minutes."

Yoongi nods, turning and heading to the door. Before he can open it, Namjoon calls out to him.

"Yoongi, wait..." Yoongi stops, peeking at Namjoon over his shoulder. "I'm really glad you found someone who makes you smile like this. It's... honestly really nice to see you so happy," Namjoon says, his voice low and his tone caring.

The older man's eyes bulge, but they return to normal a beat later and are replaced by a wide, gummy grin.

"I hope you'll find someone too. Although... you've been smiling more recently. Have you already found someone?"

Yes. Her name is Y/n.

"Nope, I just realized how much I love my friends," Namjoon says, returning Yoongi's smile.

Yoongi chuckles. "You're insane."

Yeah, yeah he is. Insane for Y/n. He's falling for a figment of his imagination. Great. Psychologists would have a field day with him.

Regardless, Namjoon keeps his joyous expression and watches as Yoongi departs. Now, he has to prepare for a meeting with Mr. Park of all people. Wonderful.

Looks like Namjoon has a long day ahead.

Park Corporations

"Mr. Kim? I'm meeting Mr. Kim in the flesh?" Park Jimin asks, Namjoon forcing a smile as he offers the man his hand.

"Yes, you are. It's come to my attention that you're dating my friend, but we'll talk about that more tomorrow night."

"Babe, why didn't you tell me that you're friends with your boss?" Jimin asks with a snicker, dropping Namjoon's hand to instead turn to Yoongi.

Babe? They're calling each other babe now? Is that how deep this relationship is already? Namjoon isn't sure if he should roll his eyes, clap Yoongi on the shoulder, or throw up. Maybe all three.

"I thought we were keeping each other's friends a surprise," Yoongi replies while fiddling with his fingers.

"Sure, sure. We'll keep you away from my friends, then. Or... I met one of yours, maybe you should meet one of mine."

"Your 'assistant'?" Yoongi asks with a snort.

"Listen, I had a gay panic when I saw you so I claimed her as my assistant. I'll have you know I actually did promote her to my assistant, excuse you," Jimin replies with a pout.

Namjoon furrows his brows. "Am I missing something?"

Yoongi laughs and nudges Jimin. "When Jin and I showed up, he dragged a poor worker into our meeting and said she was his 'assistant.' Turns out she was just a recruitment manager."

"I told you—it was a gay panic," Jimin says. He balls his hand into a fist and drops it on the table for emphasis, but it only succeeds in making Mr. Park look like a twelve-year-old. After all, he has squishy cheeks and small hands. He barely looks a day over eighteen.

Well, this is going well so far. Namjoon is talking to a short businessman who has unicorn hair and talking about gay panics. This is his biggest competitor. A man with fucking unicorn hair and gay panics.

"Okay, okay, so you've already met one of my friends. I guess this is only fair," Jimin says with a huff.

"Where is she, by the way?" Yoongi asks, motioning to the empty space besides Jimin.

"Doing my favorite activity: playing Cupid."

"She's what?" Namjoon asks, but deep down, he isn't sure he wants to know.

"She's trying to get two of my friends together. I told her to take the day off and get them ice cream. It was an order. I literally told them I'd pay them to go get ice cream with her."

"So... let me get this straight," Yoongi starts.

"Something you're not," Jimin mumbles.

Yoongi glares in response. "You're paying your employees to date?"

Jimin nods and flashes them a charming grin. "Precisely."

"Let's just get this meeting over with," Yoongi says before grabbing Namjoon's hand.

They storm past Jimin, Yoongi practically dragging Namjoon away.

"Wha- babe!" Jimin cries, rushing after the two of them.

Yoongi rolls his eyes. "I know where the meeting rooms are by now."

Namjoon snorts. "How do you know? Has someone been sneaking into Mr. Park's meetings-"

"Shut up, Namjoon," Yoongi interrupts.

Jimin pants as he finally catches up. "Thanks for waiting. Made me feel..." He pauses to heave. "Really special."

"Oh you're special alright," Yoongi grumbles as he brings Namjoon inside.

Jimin closes the doors behind them, whispering something to himself as Yoongi sits both him and Namjoon down.

"Should I be worried about your boyfriend's mental state?" Namjoon whisper-asks.

"Yes," Yoongi instantly replies as Jimin comes over and sits across from the two.

"So, question: is this meeting just an excuse to see me, Mr. Min?" Jimin asks, a cocky smirk slowly gracing his lips.

Yoongi gulps. "No, we have a lot to discuss."

"Like?" Jimin asks, raising a single brow.

God damn this man and his confidence. Namjoon's starting to have a gay panic and he's straight. He has to admit, Y/n was right: Jimin's cute. Pretty damn cute.

"Let's cut straight to the point," Namjoon interrupts, leaning forward, "you're our biggest competitor and so far you're winning. I'd like to discuss territories and strategies to keep each other in check. I think we should maintain a proper balance. I have respect for you despite your unicorn hair, so I think we should handle this like men."

Jimin chuckles and folds his hand together. "So, pretty much, you want to handle this like 'men' by telling me to share my toys?"

Namjoon hesitates as soon as he sees Jimin's face go from light to serious. Jimin shifts his jaw and narrows his eyes, and his posture stays even. It doesn't help that his voice is smooth with no cracks or hitches daring to touch it.

"I mean no disrespect, Mr. Kim, but my properties and territories are for me and me only to decide. I hope we can still have a close friendship despite this," Jimin says. A twitch of a smile hits Jimin's plump lips, but he doesn't let it reach his eyes.

Namjoon stalls. He never thought he'd see the day where he prefers listening to gay panics, but here he is.

"I believe we can," Namjoon says, trying not to show his shock, "but I think there's a way we can discuss different regions we should control, don't you think?"

"What are we, the mafia?" Jimin asks with a prolonged sigh. "We're not going to kill each other if I own an establishment right next to one you own... right?"

Namjoon nods. "Right."

"Then we don't need regions or territories or arranged properties. I believe we should continue what we're doing. Unless, of course, you meant a partnership. But you and I both know my company is notorious for never accepting partnerships."

Okay, Namjoon's starting to see why Jimin is at the top of the commercial real estate game.

"What's wrong with a partnership, Mr. Park? I'm curious why you'd reject that offer from me of all people," Namjoon says as he taps his fingers on the table.

"Because you're my biggest competitor, and so far, I'm winning. I start a partnership with you and suddenly half of my assets go to you."

"And half of mine to you. You haven't even heard my bargaining chip yet. Aren't you curious?"

"Not really, but I have a feeling you'll tell me anyway," Jimin says with a shrug, still looking cocky as hell.

"If you do a partnership with me, you can have an ambassador working in my company who keeps tabs on everything we're doing."

Jimin makes a 'hmm' sound before answering. "Interesting, but nothing groundbreaking. Why should I-"

"And I'll place an ambassador on your grounds. An ambassador named Min Yoongi."

Jimin blinks for a moment. For a couple seconds, they just stare at each other, all cockiness wiped from Jimin's face. Then, after another beat of silence, Jimin leans across the table and offers Namjoon his hand. Namjoon smirks, taking Jimin's hand, but before he can shake it, Jimin holds it in place a bit tighter than before.

"But don't get any ideas—this is temporary. You have one month to prove to me that this partnership is worth it. One month. If you don't, it's over and we're back to being competitors," Jimin says, but Namjoon can hardly take his squishy face seriously.

Namjoon chuckles and glances at Yoongi.

"With all due respect, Mr. Park... I only need a week."
