27 Spain - Day One

I wrote you in a couple of verses, which I sent flying to the sky.

-

I did a double take as I stood in front the City of the Arts and Sciences, the light breeze carelessly brushing my hair.

"This is...wow." I breathed, wrapping my hands around myself. Despite the weather being chilly, there are still so many tourists around, constantly taking pictures of their surroundings.

"What do you think?" A voice asks from behind me and I turn around to see Wes leaning on a nearby tree.

"What do I think?" I repeat, my eyes wide with fascination. "It's so incredible. It's a piece of art, I mean, wow."

Wes chuckles, pushing his hands in his pockets before leaning off the tree.

"And you've only been here for a couple hours." He says.

"Are we gonna go inside?" I ask.

"Yeah." Wes tells me, looking down at me with a small grin. He then takes a look at his watch before speaking again. "Our tour starts in about twenty minutes."

"Tour?" I asked in disbelief.

Before we even got on the plane, Wes insisted that he'll be the one to plan the entire trip. I was a little skeptic since I am a fan of organizing and I was afraid he wouldn't cover everything that I wanted to visit. He's still hiding the entire list of his plans from me but honestly, if he could've planned out even to bring me here, I don't doubt that he'll make this memorable.

"Yes." He answers my question. "I'd love to be the one giving you a tour but I don't know shit about this place."

"You've never been here?" I raise my brows.

"Nope."

"Glad to know I'm your first for something." I smirk.

"Oh, you're my first for a couple of things, baby. You just don't see it." He taps my nose before grinning boyishly. Then he tucks his hands back into his pockets and turns around, walking down the beautiful walking path. "Come on, let's go."

"I am?" I ask as I hurriedly follow after him, managing to match his pace. "For what?"

"Well, you're obviously my first love."

I blush. I freaking blush at his statement. I look down at my feet, following the small stones we pass with each step.

"You're also the first person I don't hide anything from." He says and I give him a dubious look.

"What about Adeen? Or Soph?" I ask.

"Do I tell Adeen everything I do with you?" He raises an eyebrow, hinting towards our sexual relationship. I blush again and roll my eyes. "And Sophie and I are close, but not that close. It's natural to have secrets."

"You two were always close." I say before frowning. "Sometimes I feel like Jasper isn't even my brother. We have nothing in common."

"Trust me, you'll get to it one day. He's currently in that mind set of being embarrassed when he's around his family and all that matters to him are parties and girls."

"Do you know he's probably mingling around with Ash's sister?"

"Mingling? What are you, forty?" Wes jokes before I hit his bicep. He laughs and brushes the place where I punched him.

"Shut up." I mumble.

"With your ex's sister, huh?" Wes forms his face into a thinking one. "Will that present a problem? I doubt they're going long term."

"I hope not." I exclaim.

"Did you talk to him about it?"

"Not exactly. What am I supposed to say?" I play with my bracelet. "It's his life."

"Aren't you a great sister?" Wes smiles.

"Ha-ha." I say sarcastically. "You know what I never figured out? Why don't you like your sister's husband?"

Wes scoffs, instantly showing his opinion on the guy.

"It's not that I don't like him. He just doesn't seem like a good fit for her." Wes answers. "He's the business type. He's all work and nothing but work. I'm not saying that's wrong, I just wish Soph would have someone who would actually have time for her. From what I'm seeing, he gets up early, comes home late and of course, works from home sometimes. She probably doesn't mind since she has a job of her own, but it's frustrating knowing he puts his work in front of her."

"Are you sure he does that? I doubt he'd marry her if he did."

"That's how it seems to me." He shrugs.

"Would she tell you if something was wrong? If she was unhappy."

"Probably. She can take care of herself so I'm not worried about that. I just want her to have good people around her." He says. I can't help but smile at his caring side towards his sister.

"Well, if anything goes wrong, she can always be on her own. She's a strong woman. Honestly, she was my idol when I was little." I confess.

"Yeah?" Wes's eyes sparkle with amusement. "And who's your idol now?"

"My mom." I say. His lips pull a wide smile as he wraps his arm around me.

"She's mine, too." He tells me and I look at him adoringly, his words always having an effect on me.

We reach a wide entrance and see a guy in a blue button up shirt standing in front of it. Wes informs me that that is our tour guide and the fact that there's a couple more people standing around him confirms that. He's clearly giving them instructions about the tour. Once we reach him he introduces himself as Nick and the tour of this magnificent building begins.

Although long, I found it very interesting to hear everything about this building and every single area inside of it, including the Oceanogràfic aquarium and the Hemisfèric building. It was an incredible opportunity to see everything it has to offer. I felt like I was in a movie as I jumbled through the places, grinning like a little kid.

Although I'm not a person to take many pictures, as I prefer to enjoy with my own eyes instead of through the screen, I actually took a couple photos, including some silly ones of me attempting to take Wes in front of a camera.

If I'd known he was camera shy before, I would've used that in so many of my pranks.

So I spent my time listening to Nick, who is a great tour guide, exploring areas, taking pictures and listening to Wes's groans whenever I would force him to take one with me.

"Alright, now that we have finished this section, let's head up to the rooftop." Nick informs us as we all gasp, me turning to Wes immediately.

"Rooftop? Can it get more romantic than that?" I grin.

"Ask me again in three days." Wes says and takes my hand, following the small group we've been around for the past couple hours.

The rooftop is more than beautiful, more than mesmerizing, and it leaves me more than speechless, it leaves me breathless. The distant skyline hovers over the several lights of the city. Tall buildings, now looking darker since the night is falling, are scattered around the surface, each looking more luxurious than the other. And with the water pools right underneath us, I feel like I'm at an imaginary place. I smile when the lights on the other buildings turn on, illuminating the beauty I've spent my day on. Valencia is truly an angelic city, and I bet the night will make it look even more beautiful.

"Hey." Wes nudges me, bringing my attention back to him. "Let's sit down."

He guides me to a table that's decorated with a small vase of a white flowers. There are two plates set on each side and two tall wine glasses next to each plate. The huge bucket in which the wine glass is cooling in the ice is sitting right in the middle of the table.

Wes pulls out a chair and offers me a charismatic smile, his eyes catching mine in a hypnosis. I smile back and sit down, making sure the long sleeves of my red top land safely by my sides. Wes takes the seat opposite of me, getting himself comfortable.

"You guys good here?" Nick comes to check up on us.

"Yeah, thanks man." Wes answers and Nick nods with a smile, moving away to give us privacy.

"Can I just ask something?" I say slowly after looking around for a couple of moments.

"No." Wes answers seriously and fixes the lock of his watch.

"What?"

"I know what you're gonna ask." He says, his eyes still focused on the watch. "I'm not telling you how much this costs."

"Wes." I press my lips in a tight line. I'm going to pretend that I'm not surprised by how he can read my mind. "Please."

"No." He fumbles with the lock. "You don't get to complain, or, God forbid, offer to split the price."

"Give me that." I reach for his hand and he loosely places his elbow in the middle so I can connect his watch. "I know it's too much. And yes, I know I told you it's fine but I still think you shouldn't pay everything by yourself. It's a lot."

"What else am I supposed to spend money on?" He raises his shoulders.

"Yourself." A small click is heard as his watch is fastened and in place.

"No." He takes my wrist, tracing circles on the inner side. "That won't make me as happy as seeing you enjoy everything I can give you."

"You're already giving me too much." My voice grows softer.

"Too much is never enough." He says.

A waiter comes by, placing a tray of bite foods in the middle. The delicious scent fills my nostrils and I long to take a bite of those. He fills our glasses with wine before informing us he'll bring us a new sort as soon as we finish this one.

"Look at this." I gesture to the table between us and the view around us. "How am I ever supposed to feel like I'm giving you enough? I'll never be able to top this off."

"You shouldn't feel like you're supposed to give back the same amount. I'm already in heaven when I know you feel the same way about me."

"No one has ever treated me this good in my entire life." I mutter, switching roles so that I'm the one grazing his skin. "I know I should've said it before but I want you to know that I am willing to do everything for you and that you have become the most important person in my life."

The smile that breaks out on his face is picture worthy.

It is unbelievable to think that I've been holding back something that makes this boy in front of me so happy.

"If I start to cry, please slap me." He mutters and I can't help but giggle. I relax as we start enjoying the wine and tasty food in front of us.

In the past couple days, I've been feeling closer to him than ever. Not just physically, but emotionally. I might not be the most expressive person but I hope he knows my feelings for him are real and strong.

"I still can't believe we're here." I chuckle. "Together."

"You know that people think we're faking this?" Wes says and brings the glass to his lips.

"What? Us being together?"

"Yeah."

"Why?" I wonder.

"Because apparently some people do that. Pretend that they're together because of, I don't know, revenges or their families and stuff."

I giggle just as the waiter brings another wine bottle, this time red.

"Hey, great books are based on that topic." I defend, taking the newly full wine glass in my hand.

"Why does anyone find that interesting?" Wes looks perplexed.

"It's fun." I say, thinking of all the crying and laughing I did throughout those books. "The drama and everything makes you want to read more and more."

"And what about our situation?" Wes smirks, a subtle brow lifting up. "Are there any books based on that?"

"On what?" I swirl my glass.

"The whole hating then loving thing." He explains.

I look away from him for a second, the blush threatening to appear on my face. If I'd known we would be coming on a fancy place like this rooftop, I'd put make up on. But now my face is clean and everytime I start to get red, it becomes obvious. He doesn't have to know I've read thousands of books based on that topic. I would've never even predicted my own first love would end up that way.

I turn back to the boy in front of me, his eyes trapping me in a gaze.

"Maybe, I don't know." I shrug, a half smile erupting on my face.

"Maybe someone will write a book like that one day." He grins. His face shines as he takes his glass and raises it up. He ushers me to take mine as well and we both smile at each other.

"To our story." He says, looking happy and satisfied. I enjoy his aura for a second, his gaze catching me the same way he caught my heart.

The city lights behind him and his entire being bring a new definition of perfect into my mind, and I finally connect our classes and cheer to that, forgetting about the world as in that moment, it's only him and I.
