Title: "It's Not Pity, It's Love"
Quirk: Water Manipulation
Hero Name: Mizu (water)
"Deku, to your left!" "Got it, thanks Mizu!"
The fight was brutal. Stretchers were being carried around the debris with civilians and heroes' bodies.
-
There were only a few of you left fighting, including some of your good friends, Red Riot, Dynamite, Chargebolt, Uravity, Deku, and you.
-
This was just a mission. You were just in highschool.
-
Froppy and Earphone Jack were down for the count by the time half of the villains were defeated, so now it was just the six of you.
-
The number of villains was slowly decreasing, though.
-
You were winning.
-
Well, you thought so.
-
The ground rumbled and shook violently as what looked to be some sort of cousin of the Mech Giant came into view.
-
You looked over at Red Riot, who was the closest to you.
-
His face held pure terror and fear as he gazed at the creature.
-
You weren't going to let its size stop you.
-
You charged forward and soon did your best friend and long-time crush, Deku.
-
The giant started rooting trees straight from the ground, hurling them at you and him as you caught them with your water or Deku smashed through them or redirected them with blackwhip.
-
Once the giant reached near the outskirts of the city, he took a fistful of a large building, and since you were closer to him, he chucked it at you with all of his force.
-
The corner of the building came apart in pieces which you easily dodged, but a giant glass shard forma window came at you and you dodged it, you had thought, until you felt the edge of the glass cut straight through the top of your arm, slicing the limb clean off.
-
"Y/N! NO!"
-
As you stopped dead in your tracks, your eyes wide, you looked down at your shoulder, where your arm used to be, and fell to your knees in shock.
-
You were absolutely petrified.
-
Blood splattered on the cracked pavement below you as your eyes dried up and your throat swelled.
-
While you were in your haze, Deku had already taken out the giant with two or three 100% smashes and ran as fast as he could to you.
-
The rest of the group had taken out the lower level villains, and the fight was over.
-
Everyone was relieved.
-
Until they took a glance at you.
-
"Y/n! What the fuck happened!?"
-
Bakugo was at your side instantly, an out of character panicked look on his face.
-
Midoriya reached your side within the next minute as he picked you up with the help of Bakugo, carrying you hurriedly to find an ambulance, doctor, paramedic, someone to help you.
-
Tears ran down his face.
-
Your face held no emotion. You were going into shock.
-
"Stay with us, okay? Hang on, stay awake, okay?" Bakugo begged, which was, ironically enough, very out of character for him. Must be bad writing.
-
"Hey what happened over here!?" Kirishima.
-
"Oh my God! I'll go find help!" Uraraka.
-
The blood loss was getting worse.
-
The pain was starting to go away.
-
But that wasn't good. That meant you were dying.
-
You were too young to die. It was your second year of high school. You had come too far to let your body go asleep, but yet- eternal sleep stood there, looking so tempting, that you gave in.
-
Your body felt heavier in Midoriya's arms.
-
"SHIT, NO!"
-
Your eyes closed.
-

—---
The lights were so bright, dammit.
-
Your eyes opened and blinked harshly.
-
Your legs were sore, and your arm was heavy-
-
Arm?
-
Your hand reached over your waist and felt next to your side, slipping out of the grip of the person next to you.
-
There was nothing there.
-
What the fuck?
-
You looked around your hospital room.
-
Izuku was there. Katsuki was there (in the far corner). Mina was there.
-
Izuku sat next to your bed, your hand clasped in his tightly, as if you'd try to let go.
-
He seemed to be cleaned up, by now. A bandage wrapped around the crown of his head and stitched over his left eyebrow, but he looked pretty okay.
-
Everyone was sleeping and you looked outside.
-
It was morning, it seemed. How long have you been there?
-
The door opened quietly and in walked your homeroom teacher, Shota Aizawa.
-
"Morning, kid."
-
You nodded to him.
-
"The fight was Thursday, April 14th. Today is Monday, April 18th."
-
You looked down at Izuku, whose head was in your lap as he slept soundly.
-
"Will I still be able to be a hero?"
-
His eyebrows furrowed.
-
"Why wouldn't you be?"
-
You looked down at your nonexistent arm.
-
He tsked.
-
"Are you serious? I lost my damn leg, suffer dry eye, and I'm still a hero."
-
He walked over to your bedside and kissed your forehead, which made your eyes tear up since he had always been like a father to you.
-
"You'll be back to being Mizu within a few months, I'm sure. It might be hard at first to adapt, but you'll get the hang of it, Problem child. I believe in you. We all do."
-
He motioned for the rest of the room.
-
"Get some rest."
-
He left and you sighed.
-
You slowly retract your hand from Izuku's sleeping grip, and instead play with his curly hair.
-
He seemed to stir from that, and he woke up.
-
"You're awake! How are you feeling?"
-
Like shit. "I think I'm doing a little better."
-
"I was so worried. I'm so sorry I couldn't help you."
-
I don't need your pity. "It's okay, Izuku."
-
He squeezed your hand softly.
-
"I mean it, though. I don't know what I would've done if I lost you, Y/n," he said quitetly.
-
"Probably would've been more efficient."
-
"What- what do you mean?"
-
You sighed. "The hero system isn't gonna want a new hero with a missing fucking arm."
-
His face fell.
-
"It's just gonna take a little time to get used to. I'm sure- I know you'll still be able to be a hero."
-
Your face deadpanned and you turned over in your bed, away from him, letting your hand slip from his.
-
"I'll uh, come and see you in a couple days, okay?"
-
You gave no response.
-
You heard the door open and a few seconds later it closed.
-
"Damn, thought he'd never leave."
-
Katsuki sat in the chair next to your bed, a smug look on his face.
-
"What the hell do you want?"
-
He rolled his eyes. "Believe it or not, I actually care about you. I don't have a heart of stone, you know."
-
You sighed for what felt like the millionth time that morning.
-
You sighed for what felt like the millionth time that morning.
-
"Listen, you and I aren't that different," he looked down.
-
You deadpanned. "How so?"
-
He looked up to meet your eyes.
-
"He doesn't pity you. I know it may seem like he does, because he's probably stronger than all of U.A. put together, and I know you feel like he looks down on you, but he doesn't."
-
This intrigued you. You sat up in your hospital bed, with a little struggle, but Katsuki knew better than to help you. You didn't need it.
-
You listened and hung on to every one of his words because if anyone knew about the hate of pity and being pitied, it was Katsuki Bakugo.
-
"He's just protective of the people he cares about. And I don't know if this is my place and I really couldn't give two shits, but he really fucking likes you,"
-
This kinda shocked you.
-
Izuku Midoriya had been your best friend for years, and you hadn't picked up what he was putting down? You could normally read him like a book. And didn't he like Ochaco? She liked him, for sure.
-
You also wouldn't be lying if you said you were thrilled to hear this news.
-
"Get some rest, water bender."
-
He got up and left quietly.
