Three knocks on the door, two minutes early.
Y/n sauntered over to the door and peeped through the tiny hole, "Welcome Misa! I'm glad you could make it." She smiled as she let the little blonde inside.
Misa gazed around with big starry eyes, "Wow! It's so fancy in here. You live here?"
Y/n chuckled, "Mhm, you bet, now let's find you a fitting dress for the party." She winked.
She guided Misa into her bedroom, and pushed the big french doors to the walk-in closet wide open, and watched in amusement as Misa gasped and turned all rosy in the cheeks, "O.M.G! Meg! I love you! This is... Incredible!"
Y/n let out a surprised giggle, when Misa launched herself onto her, in a tight side-hug.
"There, there, oh, and did you just call me "Meg"?" Y/n snickered.
Misa blushed, "Ah, Sorry sorry, I forgot to ask. May I call you Meg? Please? Please??"
Misa kept hugging the taller female as she gave her pleading puppy eyes.
Y/n rolled her eyes with a smile, "Fine. Now, let's get back on track."
Y/n started pulling out several pieces of clothing, bags and shoes and handing them to Misa. "Try this, and these and this too. I think these will fit you too, oh maybe a little long in the sleeves, but, let's see."
Misa giggled, "You have really good taste, I feel like we're playing dress up. Thank you Meg!"
That girl's just a ray of sunshine isn't she? Too naive for her own good, surely. Still, she reminded Y/n of a golden retriever, bouncing with joy at the slightest smidge of validation, from whoever she was seeking to please.
"Is that so? Are you my little doll then?" Y/n turned to Misa with a mirthful smirk, "That looks really good, actually, try to put these shoes on with it. I was unsure about that one, but it frames your waist so well" Y/n walked over behind Misa, who was standing in front of the mirror, and started adjusting the flowy chiffon dress with her nimble hands. Placing her hands on Misa's waist as she tightened the back of the dress ever so slightly.
"Thank you Meg.." Misa blushed and looked at the floor, she couldn't help, but feel flustered in the presence of her new manager, "You could be my stylist too you know, you're very good at all this stuff. You're like a superhero."
A genuine smile spread on Y/n's plump lips, "I suppose I've had my fair bit of experience dressing up my sister."
Building trust requires revealing truths, if not just fragments of it, besides, Misa wasn't a risk to the mission at this time. And Y/n enjoyed her bubbly presence a little bit, a change of pace from the solitary last couple of months, spent in her soulless luxury apartment.
Misa beamed, "Your sister's so lucky! I'm a little envious.."
Y/N started looking for a complimentary necklace in her shrine, "Why so? Are you an only child?" She knew the answer.
Misa lowered her head a bit, "Yeah.. actually, I don't really have any family anymore... My parents, both, died, recently." Misa bit her lip as she started tearing up, she hadn't really spoken to anyone about the incident prior, except for the police, but for some reason she found herself opening up to Megumi. It was still fresh on her mind, and she had poured her heart into working ever since to try and distract her thoughts.
Y/n furrowed her eyebrows, feeling genuinely sad for the girl, "Aww, honey, I'm so sorry.. do you want to talk about it?"
She moved to give the girl's shoulder a gentle squeeze, when Misa suddenly hugged her tightly and started sobbing into her chest.
Y/n hadn't exactly foreseen this outcome, but she didn't object, and calmly sat down and started rubbing Misa's back while trying to coax her into better spirits.
"A-And, I saw it all, I saw it right there, my parents, they, they. They're gone. Just like that, and I thought the nightmare would be over when the police arrested him, but nothing has changed, he's still in trial, and nothing is happening." She heaved in a shaking breath before continuing, "Now, I- people, you know what?! They've started saying the accusations are false, and it was in the media too, a- I just can't believe this is supposed to be the justice!"
Y/n knew she shouldn't meddle with ongoing trials, but she had the abilities to help, and how couldn't she? Anyone who had heard Misa's heartbreaking tale first hand would've done the same.
She hugged Misa tighter, "That's unbelievable. There's no way he's getting away with that. I promise."
Misa's sobs stilled a bit as she looked up at her, "H-How do you know?"
. . .
Y/n sighed, "Misa, the gathering is starting in 30 minutes, do you still want to go?"
Misa paled, "Meg! I'm so sorry! I forgot about, oh no, I wasted our time.. I'm so sorry." Misa started tearing up again.
Y/N handed her a handkerchief, "I didn't say that, I asked if you still wanted to go, or not?"
Misa blinked as she wiped her face, "W-well, yes, but do you think we can-"
Y/n cut her off with a smile, "Then let's hurry! I'm just glad I didn't do your makeup beforehand."
Misa couldn't help, but let out a little laugh, "I, thank you Meg! Thank you."
