Hey guys I just wanted to let you know the trial is 5 parts๐
Polly POV
"Ready?" Mom smoothed out my blonde hair, "Ready as I will ever be." I said nodding firmly, I looked over at Betty who peeped out the window through the shutters, "Archie probably already left." I smiled at her. She whipped round, "I wasn't waiting for him-." She lied smoothing out her pristine cream skirt. "Mm and I'm Taylor Swift." I winked, "Polly have you got your answers prepared?" Mom asked quickly changing the subject, "I don't even know what questions they are going to ask Mom!" I said, "Good point." She cleared her throat. "That's us sorted." FP said adjusting his blue tie, "Jellybean are you sure you want to come?" Mom asked. She nodded. The drive to the courtroom couldn't be any worse. I sat in between Charles and Betty. "So..." I said fiddling with my fingers. "Are we nearly there yet?" Jellybean asked for the 100th time, "Shut up!" Betty said. FP pulled up outside the courtroom sighing. "The court calls Polly Cooper to the stand." I confidently walked to the stand looking at all my family and friends biting their nails and lips nervously. "Hi Polly!" Mrs Andrews said gently, "Hiya!" I exclaimed. I saw Betty cringe slightly. Was I too excited? "Thanks for coming, you say you saw Reggie that night?" Mrs Andrews asked, "Um I definitely saw someone but I can't confirm it was Reggie." I said honestly, "Describe to me the figure in the woods that night?" Mrs Andrews said, "Tall, like 6ft and they were extremely fast though." I described. "What was or is your relationship with Reggie like?" She asked, "We were friends back in high school but when I got pregnant and dropped out we were barely ever in touch." I said, "No further questions." Mrs Andrews smiled sitting back down, "Polly you say you were in the woods the might Jughead Jones was murdered?" Mr Sirk asked, "Yeah..." I said narrowing my eyes at him, "What were you doing so late in the woods at night?" I flushed bright red, "Ladies and Gentleman of the jury, Polly can't answer that question because she's too embarrassed to admit the real reason. She left an insane asylum to go for a walk in the woods." Mr Sirk said, "Yeah but-!" I tried to protest but Mr Sirk walked closer towards me, "Did you or did you not leave your insane asylum for a walk?" He asked, "Yeah but I know what I saw!" I demanded. "What's your relationship with Evelyn Evernever?" Mr Sirk asked me. "Objection irrelevant!" Mrs Andrews protested, "Your honour Evelyn Evernever is a hypnotiser making young vulnerable people like Polly to believe that they can talk to the dead." Mr Sirk said. "Your honour Evelyn was arrested months ago and Polly has had all this time to recover!" Mary snapped back, "It doesn't take a couple of months to recover Mrs Andrews." Mr Sirk said. "Now! Mr Sirk continue." The judge said, "I have no further questions." He said sitting back down. I sat back down beside mom. I knew Betty was going to say 'I told you so' in the car.
Archie POV
"Kev have you seen Betty?" I asked Kevin, "She was with Alice and Polly by the water cooler." I patted his shoulder and saw the three arguing. "I knew this was a bad idea! She wasn't eligible to testify!" Betty hissed, "I've been through shit but I'm not crazy!" Polly clapped back. I walked towards them, "Is everything ok?" I asked Betty, "Never better." Polly responded waiting for me to leave, "Mom this is on you!" Betty said, "Elizabeth your sister isn't insane. She isn't like your deranged father!" Mom said, "Even better I'm not like you with the serial killer genes!" Polly said harshly. I saw Betty clench her fists and storm off. "Polly!" Alice snapped, "What?" Polly said tucking her hair behind her ears. I looked behind me, Betty was already at the end of the hallway pushing the door open. I walked after her slowly not wanting to seem desperate. I pushed the door quietly hearing Betty sigh from the middle of the stairs. "You ok?" I asked her, "Like Polly said, never better." She quoted. I sat beside her looking at her palms. It was those same nail marks I saw the day of the funeral, "I'm fine. Don't ask me what those are." Betty said cringing, "If that's what you want." I shrugged. "If you don't mind me asking...what are the serial killer genes?" I continued, "Something I caught from my father." She said bitterly. "I'm sorry. Caught?" I asked, "I don't know it's like...a dark side." She replied, "I'm not following?" I said folding my arms, "Listen I don't want to talk about it." She said sniffing, I took her hands tracing the moon crescent on her palms. I knew what she was talking about. "Look." I showed her the bright red marks on my knuckles, "What are you showing me?" She scoffed, "I-I do this thing in the community centre. After everything that happened with the black hood and G&G and Dodger-." She interrupted me, "Who?" She asked, "Oh I need to update you on that. But anyway, I do this thing where at night I will take a black hood mask and hunt down criminals. I just resort to violence and I've had this problem since the 7th grade where I got in that fight with Shawn McLiven." I explained. "I-I didn't know." She stammered, "Well now you do." I smiled. "But Archie, you're so good I'm just exactly like my father." She slumped on the stairs, "Betty...you are nothing like him. I would tell you what you are instead but we would be here all day." I said. We both smiled but paused as we heard the door flung open, "Hey sis." Chic winked, "Don't call me that." Betty said, "You aren't family and you certainly aren't friends so why are you here?" Betty continued, "I'm Charles boyfriend, I have a right to be here." He smirked. "Whatever you can kid yourself you are family or friends but in my eyes you don't even come close." She hissed, "Well we share the same darkness." His lips quivered as Betty clenched her fists again. I looked at his smug expression, "What are you staring at me ginger nut?" He whispered seductively. I grabbed him by his leather jacket and pinned him to the wall, "Listen to me, you are going to leave Betty the hell alone. I don't care if you're Charles' boyfriend, stay away from Betty got it?" I said staring at him in his icy blue eyes, as he tried to escape, I pinned him back again on the wall again, "I said got it?" I hissed. He nodded pulling away from my grip and headed out. I looked over at Betty, she smiled at me but headed out as well to catch up with her family. Mom bursted out of the courtroom, "Hey sweetie." Mom said, "Hey mom how's the case going?" I asked holding the car door open for her. Her face didn't give anything away. "Mom?" I asked, "They want to put you and Betty on the stand tomorrow and then they will make a decision." Mom said. "T-Tomorrow?" I stammered. "Honey it's soon but one thing I want to say is...don't lie under oath." She said but didn't speak a word on the ride home. I guess it was my turn to speak the truth.
