Pulling his hood off his head, Kirisai picks up his badger and sets him in his side pouch. Kirisai’s ears stick out from his hair just enough to barely see the tips. His light bronze skin tone becomes visible in the afternoon light. As a Wood Elf some of his physical features were slightly altered to fit the race. The badger snuggles into place and keeps his head poked out to see. Kirisai adjusts his bow and quiver on his back making sure they are still in place. He stays a Rogue class to keep in the shadows and use of various short range knives. He also has a Ranger class, as a secondary, to have a middle to long range fight.
Kirisai and I have been gaming partners for nearly a year. When in any situation that we get into we act like the others mirror, and bring down the house every time. Walking down a small path towards town we walk one after the other.
"How has the hunting been", I ask noticing the slight brushes of dirt on his back.
Last time we spoke, about a week or so ago, he set off to go hunting for a specific material. Something he said would change up his game style a bit.
Pulling out a leather pouch, full to the size of a grapefruit, he smiles back. "Fifty soul gems encasing the bits of several types of harpies. Now all I have to do is have then smithed into one of my blades."
Chuckling I run a hand through my hair and feel my ears slightly curled in. The life of a Wolf faunus is not easy. My ears and tail were the only blunt signs I was a faunus. My hair is naturally a shaggy mess. However faunus are always being either mad fun of or harassed at times. So hiding my ears in mess hair and tucking my tail in my baggy pants makes me look like a normal carefree human with loose clothes. A gentle breeze cuts through the trees and my senses pick up small hints of game further down. I play the Ranger class as well for better understanding of any environments I am in. I keep a longbow on my back to aid in mid to long range fights. My subclass makes me a bit different than other Ranger types. A Knight class gives me the ability to work with all types of bladed weapons and shields. I can keep the aggro of the fight in certain directions for brief points in time as well. I place a hand on my one handed broadsword and continue on.
"We can take care of that once we reach town. While we are at it, I think I'll grab a hair cut too."
Kirisai smiles glancing at my now standing up ears. "You have to keep getting those every week. If you collect all the hairs we could make something from it you know."
"Yea but who would want faunus hair on armor?"
As we start to exit the forest a small pixelated gust slides by. It was one of the small signs that a public event boss or a mini boss was nearby, or already going on. Kirisai and I share a quick glance then smirk at one another. Why not? We could use the exercise.
A large pixel barrier surrounds us as we enter and the area changes completely. The sky is filled with dark thunder clouds, with winds pushing in various directions at volatile speeds. Some parts of the flat land are small craters that are a few feet deep. A gray skin orc standing about seven or eight feet tall wearing a metal helmet and shoulder piece, over a leather padded armor set, has its back to us. It wields a massively wide short sword, one that is equal in length of its arm, in one hand. Its armor is covered in small cuts and light dents all over.
What was facing the beast was a small figure wielding a two handed long sword with one hand and breathing quiet heavily. Their hit points bar(hp bar) was noticeable from the other side. It was two thirds gone, and to be alone doing a fight like this for this long is impressive enough. The character has on light studded armor with a mask covering the lower part of their face. She wears a thin chainmail as a base layer under her studded. Ears were standing up high from the silver crown of her head. A faunus fighting an orc commander alone?
The closer we got the better I could see who the player was. Once I got a good look I went from a light jog into battle into a full on sprint.
"Nathan wait-", Kirisai reaches out to grab me, but his words fade as I continue on ahead.
That little idiot what does she think she's doing. Alone at that, is a whole different argument. Her all white fur ears and tail with dark red tips, on all ends, confirms that it's her. Half her body has shifted into a more beast like wolf form, or beast form. Beast form was where the user's natural state and animal state slam together. The body alters in an eclectic variety based on the animal. She was fighting at her best and losing. Goddamn it Ray. A knight class player who works with small bits of magic, but is more of a dps (damage per second) than a tank. She is a bit below the average height of any female. Her skinny, slim frame provides her with slight advantages in being agile. However, it would appear that it isn't going for her.
I skid to a halt next to her and reach into my back pouch for something. She doesn't stare away from the orcs eyes, whiles managing to catch her breath. I hand her a health potion and take her sword from her for a moment. She backs up and growls at the colossal beast.
She tries to speak through her half form while holding her side. "It charges fast and strikes heavy over its left and throws punches even quicker than I expected. Your best bet is to-"
She's cut off with my hand placed lightly upon her head and me smiling at her. Oh the amount of faith she has in me. Shifting her sword over my shoulder I look from her to the orc. "Let me worry 'bout this you go to Kirisai let him help tend your wounds and we will chat afterwards."
She looks at me for a moment, staring at me watch the beast, then begins to walk to Kirisai.
I rarely use spells of any kind so my mana bar is about a third shorter than my hp bar. Holding Ray's sword instantly gave me an instant defense boost. My body feels a light coat of aura surround me as well. Glancing over to Kirisai who is casting a small spell with one hand extended in my direction while healing Ray.
As I turn my attention to the orc, it already has its fist inches from my face. I drop low and deflect its fist upward with the hilt of the sword. Throwing it off balance was almost as hard as it looks. I leap into the air and slash right across its face. Swinging her blade feels heavy at first, but is simply done with the right momentum. Following up with double round house kicks sends a clear message that I will be taking over.
The orc collapses on its back and is growling with rage stuck in its throat. I tighten my grip on the handle and plant the blade barely into the ground. My smile back at the brute which seems to be antagonizing him, because he snaps his teeth at me and charges head on.
My body pulses for the need to charge back in return.
Instead I release a bit of my magic, I wrap it around my hands. My muscles all over my body bulk up and my tail rips a nice hole in the back of my pants. My canines lengthen and expand in a feral type of manner. I hear some of my bones popping as my height raises slightly and my stance feels like I am on the pad of my feet. I feel my face scowling like a pissed of protective wolf. A clear and firm growl pushes out of my chest. My teeth exposing themselves more ache to sink themselves into something. One's beast form varies based upon how well their faunus and human side connect as well. All of my stats increase at a tremendous rate, almost two and a half times over their base.
I sprint forward again with the orc a few feet away from me, raising both of its hands linked together. Letting go of the blade I stop and shoot a swift kick in the orcs direction, with it now in arms length. The orc drops its hands to each side and freezes completely still. My shoes expands a bit, holding my partially transformed foot in place, and stays connected to the orcs chin.
The orc falls backwards and fades into the ground, upon impact. Sighing slowly to relax, I revert to my original form. A small screen appears in front of all of us and the area begins to clear up. I close it without looking at it and jog over to Ray. She scrolls through the screen and smiles when she reaches the bottom.
"So why weren't you partied up with anyone", I ask once I step in front of her.
She begins to twiddle her thumbs and look away from me with a defeated smirk on her face. She knows she can't bullshit her way out of my questions. She stumbles along her words but manages to get them out.
"I-I kind of um.....wanted to play ....um solo for awhile and see how hard it was. I think-", she is cut off with my hand chopping the top of her head lightly.
"That if you ever do it again you will regret it. That isn't how you learn to get stronger, especially with your current play style and level." I give her a stern look as I plant her sword into the ground next to her.
The blade feels heavier than usual. My eyes drift to it and notice the small differences. She had someone insert small ball bearing weights along the center of the blade. I feel a small bit of magic coursing through the hilt as well. She might of had that enchanted as well. I look back at Ray, and she is pouting at me like a child would their parent. Shaking my head with a brief sigh I nearly give in.
"You did well holding off on your own though for the most part. Reading your opponent's movement and trying to find it's weak spot is smart." There was a sparkle in her eye and a smile nearly forms on her face. "However, pulling stunts like this isn't where you should be training. Regardless fighting a monster almost ten times your natural level is insanely dangerous. With what you did to your sword you should've worked your way through low levels first. Not just run in and fight any creature you see."
Kirisai finishes examining her sword then stands up to chime in. "Alright how about we head to town?"
Ray stands up throws her weapons over her back and she heads off ahead of us. The sword is so massive, compared to her it is inches from touching the ground. "Yea, whatever."
Kirisai gives a subtle smile towards me, that a mother gives someone to go easy on them. I raise up a hand to it while pinching the bridge of my nose. He is ready to defend her way to quick.
"Don't say it. She did well but you know as well as I do."
"She needed help and should've brought support regardless." With him agreeing we begin walking after her. "Still though."
Oh my gawds above and below why me?
