Cass knocked on the door of Remus, Sirius, James and Peters, or 'the marauders' as they now wished to be knows as, dormitory. No one answered. She swore under her breath and knocked again.

"Sirius!" She called. "Remus!" A tired looking Peter answered the door.

"Sorry Cass. They're all out of it." He yawned. Cass stepped around him and nearly gagged at the mess of their dormitory. She glanced over to James' bed, where James was not alone. Sirius and Remus were draped across each other in Sirius' bed.

"They realise that the train leaves in three hours." Cass said scornfully. Peter shrugged.

"We all got a bit tipsy last night." He said sheepishly. "And then James disappeared and then when I woke up there was a girl in his bed."

"Fucking hell." Cass muttered. She marched over to Sirius' bed and shook him roughly.

"Argh!" Sirius yelled, falling out of bed.

"Morning to you too." Cass said. "Get up, get dressed. You'll miss breakfast if you're not careful." Sirius glared up at her.

"And why did you wake me up first?" He said.

"Well, I figured Remus would wake up with you since you were practically on top of each other," Sirius blushed slightly. "-and I didn't really want to wake up James and his lady friend." Sirius jumped to his feet.

"James has a lady friend?" He asked. Cass nodded, moving so Sirius could see. "That's not Lily." He said, sounding disappointed.

"I know." Cass said. "Seriously, get up and packed. It's like a fucking bombs gone off in here."

Cass and Lily sat in an empty compartment, Marlene Dorcas and Alice were all staying at Christmas for the holidays. Cass fiddled with her hair, anxiously anticipating her return home. The compartment door slid open and Simon entered.

"Hey." Lily said.

"Hello beautiful." Simon said, sitting down beside her. Cass bit back an eye roll. They had been all over each other since the Christmas party, even going to Slughorns party together. They started snogging.

"I'm just gonna..." Cass realised neither of them were listening. She rolled her eyes and left them to it. She was immediately cornered by Noah.

"Hey, I was just looking for you." He said, kissing her softly.

"I was getting away from Lily and Simon." Cass shuddered. "All over each other." Noah laughed.

"Come on, we can sit in my compartment." He led her to a compartment with Grace, Will and another girl who Cass didn't recognise.

"Hi Cass!" Grace said. "This is Emily." She introduced the girl.

"Hi." Cass said, offering her a smile.

"Hello." Emily said. She had soft blonde hair and glasses. Noah sat down, gesturing for Cass to do the same. She engaged in a conversation with Grace, but didn't really pay all that much attention.

"I'd better find Sirius." Cass said. "We can't be far away now." She stared out of the window and sighed. Noah nodded.

"I'll come with you, say goodbye." He said, lacing his fingers through hers. Will whistled quietly.

"I'm going to go and find Simon then." He said.

"You'll have a job detaching him from Lily." Cass muttered. Will sniggered slightly. She led Noah and Will to the compartment where she had left Lily and then took Noah to the compartment she knew her brother would be in. Noah pulled her into an empty one first.

"I'll miss you." He said.

"I'll miss you too." Cass said. "Sorry about the secrecy." Although she had kissed Noah in front of the majority of Gryffindor house, they acted like nothing had happened and that Cass was just drunk. Only their friends knew the truth.

"Don't be." Noah said. "Just give me a proper goodbye." He winked. Cass cringed.

"You're so cheesy." She said.

"You love it." Noah whispered.

"Just shut up and kiss me you fool."

After a prolonged make out session, Cass and Noah parted ways and Cass went into the marauders compartment. Peter was hunched up against the window, asleep and Remus, Sirius and James were talking in hushed tones crouched over a piece of parchment.

"Whatcha doing?" Cass said. The three boys jumped and their heads bashed together.

"Jesus Cass, give us a warning when you come in next time would you?" James said, rubbing his head.

"Oh hush Potter." Cass said. "How's your friend from this morning?" James went bright red and didn't reply.

"Are you going to be okay over these holidays?" Sirius asked lowly. Cass shrugged.

"Suppose. I only hope that that thing doesn't actually happen." She said. Remus raised his eyebrows.

"What thing?" He asked.

"Nothing." Cass said quickly. "Are you staying with the Potters Sirius?"

"I'm going to theirs for Christmas and New Year, but I'm getting my own place now I'm of age." Sirius said. James sighed.

"How many times do I have to tell you pads, you're perfectly welcome to stay at mine forever if you'd like." He said. Sirius grinned at him.

"Nah, then I'd have to put up with your ugly arse all the time." Remus and Cass burst into laughter, James kicked Sirius hard in the shin and Sirius looked very proud of himself. "In all seriousness, I don't want to intrude on your family for any longer than I can afford."

"It's no-"

"James, just leave it." Sirius said, his tone laced with finality. Cass cleared her throat.

"Exploding snap?"

The train pulled into the familiar platform 9 and 3/4. Cass hugged Peter, James and Remus rather tightly before turning to Sirius.

"I'll write when I can." She said, her voice shaking a little.

"I'll wait for your letters before replying." Sirius said. Cass burst into tears and flung her arms around Sirius' neck. "Hey, don't cry Cassie. Everything will turn out okay in the end. Shhh." He soothed.

"I promise not to turn into a monster after it. I swear." Cass sniffed.

"I know you won't." Sirius said. "You'd better go, you know how they get." Cass gave him another hug before dragging her trunk off of the train. Sirius watched her sadly.

"You ready mate?" James said.

"Mmm." Sirius said vaguely.

"You're still coming to mine tonight, right? Then we help you move in tomorrow?" James said.

"Yeah, if that's okay." Sirius said.

"Course it is. Let's go."

The flat that Sirius had bought was a twenty minute walk from Potter Manor. It was in a rather bleak muggle block of flats, on the tenth floor. Sirius had all of his things in a rucksack with an undetectable extension charm on it, courtesy of Euphemia and Fleamont for his birthday. Sirius had a brief discussion with the landlord and was given the keys. The keys to his new freedom. He sighed contentedly as he sat down on the small sofa that he had bought. He had invested in a small amount of furniture, just the essentials, and also decided to buy himself a large black motorbike. He took his trunk out of his rucksack (with difficulty) and discarded it onto the floor of his bedroom. He heard a loud knock at the door and sauntered through to answer it. It was Remus.

"Hey." Sirius said.

"Hi." Remus said. "We need to talk." A look of concern flitted over Sirius' face.

"Oh, come in." He said. He led Remus through to the small living room. Remus sat down on the edge of the sofa. "Tea? Coffee?"

"A tea would be great." Remus said. Sirius busked himself with boiling the kettle and getting mugs out. Remus was tapping his foot anxiously on the ground.

"So, what's up?" Sirius said, handing Remus a mug.

"I love you." Remus blurted. "I want to tell James and Peter about us." Sirius sighed. "Only if you want to- I mean I just thought-"

"Rem, relax." Sirius laughed. "I'm relieved. I've been wanting to for a while but I didn't want to rush you." Remus relaxed slightly.

"We should tell them before we go back to school." Remus said.

"Sure, whatever you like." Sirius said, taking a large gulp of tea and promptly spitting it back out again. "Shit." He said, a look of disgust on his face. "I must've mixed the salt and sugar up." Remus hastily put his mug onto the table.

"Nevermind, I thought James would be here in all honesty. Wasn't he helping you move in?" He said.

"Nah, he was supposed to but he ended up going to his grandparents. He tried to come but I told him I had nothing to help with. All of my possessions fit into my trunk." Sirius shrugged. "Never had that much when I lived with... before I got..." He coughed slightly. Remus put a hand on his knee.

"Give me a tour?" He asked softly. Sirius nodded.

"Not much to see really. This is obviously the living room, and that's the 'dining room'-" He pointed to a wooden table with a few chairs gathered around it. "-then the kitchen."

"It's nice." Remus said. "Do you even know how to cook?"

"Nope." Sirius said. "Suppose I'll have to learn." He shrugged again and led Remus to the next room. "Bathroom, spare bedroom- hopefully Cass' room eventually." He gestured to the room that was empty apart from a bed.

"Do you think she'll leave your family?" Remus asked quietly. Sirius stiffened.

"They are not my family." He said icily. "As far as I'm concerned, they are just gene doners."

"I didn't mean it like that." Remus said desperately. "I'm sorry."

"It's not your fault." Sirius said tiredly. His hands shook slightly as he opened the door to the last room. "And this is my room." Remus smiled slightly. The room was painted a simple white but the walls were plastered with pictures and posters, a large Gryffindor flag hung above the bed.

"It's ace." Remus said. Sirius flopped back on the bed.

"It's weird, living alone. I know I've been here for less than a day but everything is so quiet." Sirius said.

"James will be over all the time I'm sure." Remus said. He lay down beside Sirius. "And Peter. And me." Sirius turned to face him.

"I love you too Remus." He said. "So much." Remus smiled shyly and kissed him softly. Sirius fiddled with the hem of Remus' shirt. Remus looked at him slyly and whipped it off. Sirius let out a small gasp as he saw the many scars that littered Remus' chest.

"Perks of being a werewolf." Remus said, seeing his expression. He forced a smile. Sirius kissed him again.

"I love you anyways. It doesn't matter a jot." He whispered. He pulled his own T-shirt over his head and Remus almost screamed. Sirius' chest and stomach was littered with long scars and what looked like the remnants of burn marks.

"Where did- did they-" Remus said in a strangled voice. Sirius avoided eye contact. "Sirius..."

"Oh what a wand can do." Sirius said. "Or whatever weapon of choice it was at the time, I forget." He said it in such a way that Remus got the impression that he had full memory of every time a wand had touched him.

"I'll kill them." Remus growled. "I'll go over there and fucking see how they like it." Sirius took his hand.

"Don't." He said. "You'll get yourself hurt."

"But-"

"Rem..." Sirius said softly. "It's okay."

"It's not!" Remus said angrily. "That's- that's child abuse!" Sirius smiled sadly.

"I'm not a child anymore." He whispered. Remus' eyes softened and he engulfed Sirius in a hug. Sirius sobbed softly into his chest. They eventually fell asleep curled against each other.

There was a sound like a shot and Sirius found himself on the floor, paralysed with fear. Orion leered over him, wand blazing. Sirius screamed in pain as spell after spell hit him. He was begging them to stop, he was going to die. He was bleeding heavily from his back and his T-shirt cling onto him, soaked in his own blood. Walburga cackled as Orion raised his wand again. "Crucio!"

Sirius screamed. Remus' grip tightened on his waist.

"What happened?" He murmured.

"Bad dream." Sirius said shakily. "I'm going to get some water." Remus nodded sleepily, turning over. Sirius passed through to the kitchen and poured himself a glass of water. An owl tapped on the kitchen window.

Sirius,
I hope my owl finds you I didn't know where your new address is. It's deadly calm here, they're building up to something big. I can feel it. They're dead set on the 27th and I'm so scared. Regulas is avoiding me, I don't blame him to be perfectly honest. I hope your new flat is nice.
All my love,
Cass

Sirius petted the owl absently. There was nothing else for it, he had to get Cass out of there.
