"...Home is a feeling, not a place..."

“So, this is your room,” Tony pushes a door open, revealing a plain room with one wall full of windows, “Enjoy your stay at the Avenger’s base.” He bows playfully and walks out of the room.

Ever sighs and shuts the door behind her. She misses Bucky. A lot. The redhead spent two months in observations and had to get a psychological evaluation before they let her leave to stay at the base.

The girl throws her stuff on her new bed and looks out the windows, tree lay for miles and miles, cutting her off from civilization. The room consists of a bed with a plain white comforter, a dresser and closet full of clothes, a bathroom, a tv mounted on the wall, and a couch in front of the windows.

The electricity flowing through the building is a bit overbearing, but Ever can manage. A buzzing pulls her attention away from the trees in front her, leading her towards the bed where a phone sits. She picks it up and answers it.

“Hello?” She thinks this phone is hers, a gift from Tony.

“Miss Evergreen,” A accent flows through the speaker, “It is T’Challa.”

“Oh, hey… Your Highness?” Evergreen was informed that T’Challa is the king of Wakanda by Tony.

The King chuckles, “There is no need for formalities, Evergreen.”

“Oh,” A blush cover’s Ever’s cheeks, “So, what’s up?” Evergreen plops down on the couch.

“I have someone here who wants to talk to you,” You can hear the smile on T’Challa’s voice.

“Okay?” Ever chuckles nervously. Who would she know in Wakanda?

“Buttercup?” Tear’s cloud the pure green eyes, “You there?”

“Bucky,” Evergreen sighs, “Buck… Is that you?”

“It’s me,” Bucky chuckles on the other line, “It’s really me.”

“Oh my god,” Evergreen falls backwards on the couch, “I miss you so much! Where are you? H-How are you? When are you coming home?” Ever begins spouting off questions.

“I miss you too, Evergreen,” Bucky sighs, “And I’m good, really good. And I promise I'll see you soon, I just can’t come back right now.”

“Just-” Ever sighs and closes her eyes, “Just come home to me, Buck. Please?”

“I’m working it out with Steve right now, we’ll be home soon. I promise,” Bucky presses.

“Miss Evergreen, Mr. Stark requests your presence in the kitchen,” FRIDAY says from all around the girl.

“Okay, tell him to give me a moment,” Ever calls out before going back to her phone, “I have to go Buck, but I miss you and I can’t wait to see you.”

“Okay, Buttercup,” Ever smiles at the nickname, “I’ll see you soon.” There is silence, ten the line goes dead.

“FRIDAY?” Ever stands and shoves her phone in her backyard.

    “Yes, Miss Evergreen?”

“Tell Tony I’m on my way,” Evergreen walks out of her room and towards the elevator.

    “Yes, ma’am.”

“What do you need, Stark?” Ever takes up residence on the counter.

“What sounds good for food tonight?” Tony doesn’t stop moving, “I’m thinking Chinese Takeout. What about you?”

“That sounds fine,” Ever nods and hesitates before asking something that she’s been thinking about for awhile, “Why are you letting me stay here?”

“What?” Tony pauses and looks at her.

“I mean, I’m a HYDRA experiment, I helped Bucky escape, and I still wholeheartedly believe he did nothing wrong. Why are you letting me stay here?”

“I owe someone a favor, and you also kept people in my team from getting killed. You tried to stop the fight,” Tony starts moving around more, “Don’t think to far into this kid. It’s not that important.”

“Well, thank you anyways,” Ever pulls her phone out and starts looking through it. She’s never really had a phone, and doesn’t really know how to work one. But she’s willing to try.

“Oh, so you found the phone?” Stark glances at her for a second before going back to whatever he was doing.

“Yeah, thanks by the way,” Ever nods.

“It was Peter’s idea,” Tony smiles fondly into his cup, making Ever chuckle.

“So, you can really float through walls?” Ever questions. Her, Stark, Rhodes, and Vision all sit in the living room.

“Yes,” Vision looks a bit uncomfortable.

“That’s so cool,” Ever gushes, “Cooler than anything I can do.”

“I’m not so sure about that,” Tony lets out a breathy laugh, a red tint on his cheeks. He is a bit drunk, “You managed to put yourself IN my suit. How…” The look on Tony’s face makes Ever giggle and sip more of her wine.

“Electricity,” Ever sets down her glass, “watch.” One second she is there, and the next she is gone.

“W-What the hell?” Rhodes swivels around looking for her, “Where’d she go?”

“I’m right here,” Rhodey picks up his phone as Ever’s voice flow’s through it. There is a flash of pale blue light, and she is right back on the couch, “I can travel through the electrical currents. It just takes a bit of energy.” Evergreen closes her eyes for a second.

“That’s awesome,” Tony stares at her in awe, “I like you, we’re gonna keep you around, Bolts.” Tony points at her and erupts in laughter.

“Okay,” Ever sighs and stands, grabbing her phone and checking the time, “I’m off to bed. See you guys in the morning.”

“See ya kiddo…” Tony trails off. Ever shakes her head and starts towards the elevator.
