Bracer Phoenix's construction began on October 10, 2018 as part of the Mark-5 Jaeger fleet, right behind Striker Eureka. Originally, it was part of Stacker Pentecost's Mark V-E Project; but was bumped back down to a regular Mark-5. Early on, ERDC bureaucracy threatened to hold up construction as J-Tech engineers wanted to install experimental tech and streamline the design, but Bracer Phoenix was completed over the course of seven months, which was the shortest construction time for any Jaeger in ERDC history.

Initial Launch and Testing

Nicknamed "The Shanghai Shield", Bracer Phoenix was launched on May 4 of 2019 as the second Mark-5 Jaeger. It was temporarily assigned to the Moyulan Shatterdome for a year while others were moved about.

Testing of Bracer Phoenix was a mixed bag in many ways. During its first training run, the neural strain of controlling the V-26 Vortex Cannons in conjunction with the Mark-5's movements and other weapons systems led to both pilots suffering a near-fatal seizure. The Jaeger was nearly scrapped due to the incident until it was suggested that a third pilot be added to handle the cannons while the other two handled physical combat. The resulting redesign that was required to alter the Pons System to connect three pilots and to create the torso-mounted Gunner Pod would ground the Jaeger for two months. Even after the redesign, ERDC brass was split on Bracer's effectiveness, as the Jaeger had immense firepower but average speed and agility. However, the Jaeger's impressive performances in simulated battles (50 drops, 41 kills), was enough to showcase its potential. A huge M-19 Morning Star was later added to its right arm, and could be swapped out with its regular arm when the Jaeger wasn't Deployment-Ready.

Nora Valkyrie, Harriet Bree, and Elm Ederne were assigned to the Chinese Mark-5 in December of 2019. Bracer Phoenix went onto gain an impressive 7 Kaiju Kills: Erupture, Roarshock, Abominator, Pravis, Biantal, Santelmo, and Tormentor.

By the time of December 2024, Bracer Phoenix was one of only 26 remaining Jaegers out of the once 200. General James Ironwood authorized all surviving Jaegers to be transferred to the Hong Kong Shatterdome, where a last stand was taking place. Bracer took place in The Triple Event, aiding Gypsy Danger and Tacit Ronin against a Category-4 Kaiju, Shrikethorn. Godzilla later came to the Jaegers aid, and killed the Category-4, while also helping the others.

After The Battle Of The Breach, it was determined that Bracer could be far more effective with a complete overhaul. The first innovation was the inclusion of experimental XR-3 Scorpion missiles, which were more powerful versions of Shaolin Rogue's magnesium-laced Shooting Stars weapons. Another new feature was the inclusion of a learning A.I. named K.V.A.S.I.R. which was very similar to Coyote Tango's T.A.R.A. system. The most effective part of the overhaul was the added ability for the Morning Star weapon to be released from Bracer's right arm during combat. On Bracer's regular right arm, a T-8 Shortsword could be extended from its housing, ensuring the Jaeger would not lose too much firepower. Complementing the increased firepower was an upgraded power core, the Drayx-13/B6. Parts of Shaolin Rouge were also stripped from the damaged Mark-3 to repair Bracer Phoenix.

Bracer Phoenix would later be repainted into a dark green Livery with beige highlights.

The Mark-5 would finally see action again when 10 months after The Breach was sealed, a smaller Breach, nicknamed "The Rift" opened in the Mediterranean Sea...

However, this Breach could only send out clones of a handful of Kaiju: Acidquills (Category-3), Skullcrawlers (Category-2), Rippers (Category-1), and Warbats & Drownvipers (both Category-4). Attacks were also a full 2 weeks apart.

Bracer Phoenix would be Deployed alongside the restored Russian Mark-2, Eden Assassin, The Unaffiliated Mark-6 Murder Witch, and the American Mark-4 Jaeger, Romeo Destroyer, when The Rift first spat out 3 Acidquills and a Skullcrawler, which headed for The Philippines. The 4 Jaegers took them down in a total of 7 and a half hours, but with Eden Assassin suffering the heaviest damage. Miraculously, no one was killed...

These attacks would continue for the next year and a half, until finally, 12 days after the last attack, the Rift spat out one of the biggest Kaiju the world had ever seen...the first and only Category-6, Breacher...

Glynda Goodwitch, the new Marshall of the Hong Kong Shatterdome, ordered for Crimson Typhoon, Gypsy Danger, Soviet Elite, Marauder Zeus, Condor Fury, Titan Redeemer, Coyote Tango, Gypsy Avenger, Valor Omega, Hunter Vertigo, Striker Eureka, and Bracer Phoenix to be Deployed immediately. Hydra Corinthian, Challenger Rex, Cherno Alpha, and the others would stay behind just in case another Kaiju headed their way.

During the fight, Bracer Phoenix and the other Jaegers suffered serious damage, but were taken by surprise when none other than Godzilla came to their aid...

Godzilla and the Jaeger fleet worked side by side, and actually managed to land several critical injuries on the giant Category-6, but it was Bracer Phoenix, Titan Redeemer, and Godzilla who made the final blow...the 2 Jaegers launched their Wrecking Balls, disorienting Breacher long enough for Godzilla to fire his Atomic Breath through the Category-6's neck, killing him.
