Life as an eco miner wasn't actually too bad, to be honest. I didn't get too much money, but the mines were warmer than outside, and they were exciting to explore. I was assigned to mine for yellow eco, which in itself was a rather amazing type of eco. But it was tough to find deep underground.

On one fateful day, I was looking for more eco deep underground, when I saw a pool of purple liquid. It was mesmerizing to look at. Swirls of purple, yellow, magenta and blue. I was curious about what it was, so I touched the tip of it with my finger. I jerked my hand back as I felt a burning sensation on the tip of my finger.

I decided that this stuff was bad news, so I started to walk down the corridor I mined with my pick-axe.

All of a sudden, I heard a loud rumbling over my head. Suddenly, a large rock nearly fell on top of me. I rolled out of the way just in time. there were rocks raining from the cave roof. I started running back to the back of the cave. But I forgot one vital fact.

The lake of purple liquid was at the back of the cave.

I gasped as I fell into the small lake of fluid. I felt like I was being electrocuted from the inside out. I couldn't see. I tried to draw a breath of air, but the awful substance met my lungs instead. I was burning in every part of my body. I realized it was no use.

This is the end for me.

I gave up, sinking to the bottom of the pool. I looked up at the surface. My eyesight was turning white at the corners of my vision.

'So, this is what death looks like,' I smiled, 'how funny. my life ends before it even starts.'

I closed my eyes and waited for the embrace of death.

That embrace never came.

I woke up later. I have no idea how late. Maybe a few minutes. Or hours. Or even days. I didn't care.

I felt a strength within me when I woke up. My eyesight was no longer blurred. I noticed how I wasn't able to breathe. The suffocating liquid was still in my system. I knew I should swim up to the surface. And that I did.

I clung onto the surface edge of the rock. Land was welcoming, to say the least. I hauled myself up onto the cave floor. I was confused. In my mind I knew something was wrong. The thing is, I couldn't put my finger on it. I decided to walk outside to see if I could see what was wrong.

As I stepped outside, I welcomed the cool wind rushing over my body. The substance was like a burning fire, and the wind was a cooling water. I walked back to my small home, looking forward to spending a while away from the caves. I scratched  my head, and I felt as if somebody stabbed me. I gasped, and drew my hand away from my head. That's when I noticed the claws.

I had twelve inch long talons, each were serrated and would suit something like a ferocious animal better than a girl. My hand was also a sickly purple-grey. I rushed to the mirror to examine myself more.

My hair had turned obsidian black, for a start. That was the least of my worries, though. My teeth were no longer normal, they were jagged and sharp. I looked at the small streams of blood that dripped down my face. Two large horns were now on my head, which stabbed through my skull. And last of all, my eyes were dark pits of oblivion. How could this be me?

I would prefer not to write the painful memories of me on my rampages, murdering so many innocent people and living in despair and pain. I will, instead, skip ahead to the next three hundred years of my life.
