"I hate Winter patrols." I mumbled to myself as I sat on the roof of an abandoned building with a heated coat on. It was dark and snowy, typical for Japan in the Winter, and I hated it. I just want to be home with Zashi, the nekos, and a hot cup of coffee. Zashi was able to get off early today so he picked the boys up from school and started a movie marathon with them. When I left after getting a quick bite for dinner, they were watching Wall-e. It was a cute movie and I think Izuku likes the little cockroach. I was pulled out of my head when I heard a yell from a nearby alley.
I jumped roofs and inspected the scene. Initially, I thought it was a mugging, with two big guys against a smaller guy, but then I spotted a briefcase leaning against the wall. 'Failed drug deal them' I thought to myself. I phoned the police, confirming my location, before jumping down to intervene. I knocked out the smaller guy quickly with a well-aimed uppercut and turned to the larger two.
"Who the hell are you?!" one of the guys asked with a growl. From the looks of it, he had a werewolf transformation quirk. "Pro hero Erasurehead. You two are under arrest." "Ha!" the other guy, no physical identification of a quirk, laughed "You don't look like much of a hero. Come on Wolf, we can take him."
The two shot out in a direct run toward me. I had to take care of the wolf guy first since it's a mutation quirk, so I threw my capture weapon and wrapped it around him tight. I thanked Power Loader quietly in my head for putting metal strings in the scarf as 'Wolf' tried to claw the fabric and tear it up. Seeing that he wasn't getting out, I turned my attention to the last guy.
I got close and we started to brawl. I had my quirk activated so that whatever this guy's quirk was, it couldn't be used. It took me maybe 5 minutes before the last guy was down and pinned to the ground. I heard sirens and thanked the heavens that my patrol was over halfway done. The other two guys were getting secured and 3 officers were walking over to my spot when I felt a blinding pain in my right foot.
I instinctively let go out of shock but activated my quirk as the officers started running close at the sound of gunfire. I clutched my bleeding foot as the large guy got quirk-canceling cuffs on his wrists. "You need a ride to the hospital Erasure?" Officer Sanasa asked. "Unfortunately, I think so. The wound is straight through and I didn't break any bones so I'll probably only get put in a short-term cast. Zashi's gonna kill me." Sanasa chuckled and helped me to the car before driving to the hospital.
It took just over an hour to get my foot casted and out of the hospital. I hobbled my way to the train station, texting Zashi that I was on my way home. It was a little early for me to be off, only around 1 am, but I didn't bother answering any of Zashi's questioning messages. The train was long and tiresome. I was resting my head against the glass trying. not to fall asleep and pay attention to the upcoming stops.
When I started nodding off, my head popped up at attention at the recognition of my stop's announcement. As the train stopped I clamored off as normally as I could and walked the two blocks to the apartment. I felt bone dead as I turned the key and entered our home. I heard the TV still going as I slipped my shoes and winter gear off. I just wanted some coffee so I didn't even spare a glance into the living room as I passed it on my hunt for my treasure. But I was only about a foot from the liquid gold when I got startled by my loud blond.
"SHOUTA! YO-ur foot!" I looked at Zashi to shut his quirk off, then to my casted foot, then back at Zashi (who was now clamoring off the couch in a panic), and then finally to the startled and tired nekos who had been woken by the shout. Zashi ran over to me and started fretting and inspecting me for other injuries, ignoring my reassurances that there were only a few bruises.
I noticed the nekos walking over, tails intertwined and eyes filled with worry. "Zashi. Now look what you did," I harshing whispered. "What I did?! What did you do?!" "Relax, just a bullet through the foot. It'll be healed the day after tomorrow with Chiyo's help." "You got shot/hurt?" Shoto and Izuku asked with a whimper.
They both had a few tears in their eyes but I bent down and held out my arms. They ran to me and hugged either side of my chest, "Don't worry I just got a little hurt. Besides, now I can spend all weekend with you because I got put on bed rest." The nekos still looked worried and were clutching my shirt in a death grip, but were happy that they could spend all day with me, I was too honestly speaking.
"You sure you okay?" Izuku asked softly. I smiled at him and nodded. We all went to bed and if Zashi hugged me tighter as he slept tonight, he didn't say anything about it or comment on my smug face in the morning.
--- The Next Day ---
When I got up, I was met with an empty bed. I fumbled with the blankets and limped down the hall. I heard quiet voices in the kitchen so I could only assume that Zashi was cooking with one or both of the nekos. "Zawa!" Izuku chirped happily from his place at the island. He was munching on some fruit as Shoto helped Zashi make eggs and bacon. I gave a tired smile and went to make some coffee after ruffling my hand through his green hair.
"I've got to head out in 30. I'll tell Nezu that you aren't coming in today." "Thanks, Zashi." I sat next to Izuku with my steaming coffee and made small talk with Izuku while the other two finished cooking. Zashi left right after finishing, kissing both nekos on the head and giving me a normal kiss. Once the boys finished eating, the three of them went to the living room and cuddled while deciding what to do today.
"So we will have to have a nap sometime today and I can't stand for too long. So with this, what would you guys like to do today?" The nekos were quiet as they thought but just shrugged their shoulders. "Do you just want a relaxing day?" "Whats that?" Shoto asked."It just means that we just do what we want today. So we can cuddle, do puzzles, read, or do anything that we can think of to do inside."
"I want to read," Shoto said. "Okay, what about you Sun?" "Write?" Izuku asked with a little sparkle in his eyes. "You want to write in your notebooks today?" "Mhmm" the green neko hummed with an eye smile. "I can show you tricks with my scarf that you can add." Izuku gasped and nodded happily. He ran to his room and can back clutching his notebooks.
So that's what they did. Shoto sat in the loveseat and read a book, while Aoki slept on his lap, and Izuku sat at the coffee table watching me intensely as I did little tricks. Izuku had gotten a lot better at writing and was scribbling furiously in the book. I corrected a few words and facts but over all, I watched in amusement at the young neko.
They all sat quietly until it was around noon and Shoto got up to make a easy lunch that Zashi taught him to make. Shoto had become quite the little chef under Zashi's tutelage. It was just fish, miso soup, and rice but it tasted very good. After lunch Shoto went back to reading and when Izuku released his quirk, Lunar and Sunray cuddled with the dual colored neko.
Likewise, Izuku took a break from writing and decided to take a nap with me. The neko laid across my chest and Amaterasu, Sapphire, and Falkor buried into his hair and neck. We turned the lights down and I fell into a peaceful sleep accompanied by the soft purrs from Izuku. In the end that's how Zashi found us 3 hours later when he got home.
