Prompt- part two of Liam deaf

Liam's pov

I have been at my new school for about 3 months now. My friends are really nice. Louis is still a bit loud but that is just his personality and I am used to him now. Niall has been the one I am the closest to since he is almost always in. There are days that Louis, Harry and Zayn are off sick. Niall is normally in and he helps me. The others also helps me especially when the older children are picking on me.

Today most of the class is off with a stomach bug. Including all of my friends. I am very lost without them. It is lunch time and I am trying to avoid all the other children. Especially the older children. I am looking around the playground. Making sure that no one is coming up to me. I don't see anyone come up behind me until it is too late. I get pushed down. I bump my forehead on the concrete.

I look round and I see the older student that took my hearing aid out when I first started. I just about hear "Where are your friends now to protect you?" I sign 'please leave me alone. Please' the older student laughs and I back up to against the fence. I hope a teacher comes soon. As the older student comes over the bell goes. I hear the student say just about "You are lucky go get out of my sight." I stand up and I slowly walk away but before I can get too far the student trips me up. I fall on my face. I stand up with tears in my eyes. I walk to my class. I put my hand on my forehead and I pull my hand away and see blood. I whimper because my head hurts. The teacher opens the door and lets us in. She looks at me and signs 'Liam what happened? Why is your head bleeding' I sign 'the older child pushed me down then tripped me over when I was walking to class' tears roll down my face and I sign 'I want my mummy' the teacher nods and signs 'Mummy will be here soon. We need to get you to the nurse' I nod and she gets the TA to watch the class whilst she takes me to the school nurse.

When I am at the school nurse I hear the teacher say "This is Liam Payne. He got pushed down by an older pupil and then tripped over and he has a bleeding head. He also has cochlear implants as well" I see the nurse nod and my teacher signs to me 'You'll be alright here Liam. The nurse will clean your head up then call your mummy' I nod and sign 'Thank you' my teacher leaves the room and the nurse says to me "Hello Liam. Let's have a look at your head" I nod and sign 'I want my mummy' the nurse nods and signs back 'I'll call your mummy when I finish checking your head and cleaning up the cut' I nod and the nurse grabs out an antiseptic wipe and some gloves. The nurse puts the gloves on her hands and opens the antiseptic wipe. She gently cleans up my head and I feel tears roll down my face. Once she is done the nurse signs 'hold this on your head and I'll call your mummy yeah' I nod and sign back "I want my mummy' the nurse nods and I hold the tissue that the nurse was holding to my head to my own head and the nurse goes over to her desk.

The nurse taps some buttons on the phone and she puts the phone to her ear. I don't hear what she is saying but I can see her lips move so I hope she is talking to my mummy. After a couple of minutes the nurse puts the phone down and signs 'Your mummy will be here in ten minutes' I nod.

Karen's pov after the call ends

I go to my boss and say concerned "Is it alright if I can go and get my son from school? He has been tripped over and he has a rather nasty cut on his forehead. I have almost finished my work that I needed to get done." My boss says "Isn't there someone else that can collect him?" I shake my head and say "I'm a single mum and my parents live in Wolverhampton" my boss nods and says "Go on then. Will you be back in tomorrow?" I say "Probably. I will let you know as soon as I know though." My boss says "Alright now go and pick Liam up I'm sure he is desperate to see you" I nod and say "Thank you so much."

I go to my car and drive to the school as quick as I can without breaking any speed limits. As soon as I get to the school I rush in and go to the office. I say "I got a call from the school nurse that my son needs to be picked up." The receptionist nods and says "What's his name?" I say "Liam Payne" the receptionist nods and says "go on through. He is in the nurses office" I nod and walk to the nurses office.

As soon as I get there I have my arms full of Liam. I gently pull him back and I take the tissue off his head and I say to the nurse "That is a nasty cut on his head. I'll go and get it checked out" the nurse nods and responds "Yeah I think it might need gluing shut" I nod and gently lift Liam onto my hip and he buries his face in my neck. I say to the nurse "thank you for looking after him" the nurse nods and responds "He was no trouble at all" I nod and carry Liam out of the room and to the car. I put Liam in his seat and I sign to him 'Let's go and get your head checked out yeah' Liam nods and I strap him in. I get in the car and drive to A&E.

Once we arrive at A&E I get out of the car and I go round to Liam's side. I open his door and I unstrap Liam. He signs 'Mummy I'm scared' I sign back to him 'You'll be alright baby. I will be with you the whole time' Liam nods and I gently lift him out of the car. He buries his face in my neck again.

I carry Liam the receptionist at the hospital and I say "Hi my son got pushed down in the playground at school and has a rather nasty cut on his forehead" the nurse nods and says "Alright. Sign him in and I will get a doctor to come and have a look at his head" I nod and I sit down with Liam sat on my lap. I sign him in and I take the signing in forms to the receptionist.

After about half an hour we get called back. I carry Liam over to the doctor and we get taken into a room. The doctor says "Hello. How may I help you today?" I say "Liam got pushed down in the playground at school and he has got a nasty cut on his forehead" the doctor nods and says "Could I have a look?" I nod and carefully turn Liam around. Liam looks up at me and I sign 'The doctor wants to have a look at your head' Liam nods.

Liam's pov

The doctor looks at my head and I hear him say just about "His head needs gluing. It is quite a deep cut. Has he showed signs of a concussion?" I look at my mummy and she shakes her head and she signs to me 'Does your headache?' I shake my head and sign 'Only hurts where my cut is' my mummy nods and says to the doctor "He said that his head only hurts where the cut is" the doctor nods and I hear the doctor say just about "I'll get the glue to glue his cut shut" I feel my mum nod.

The doctor leaves the room and I sign to my mummy 'Where's the doctor going?' My mummy signs back 'Gone to get some special glue to glue your cut shut' I nod and I sign 'I'm tired' my mummy nods and sighs 'You can go to sleep for a little while when we get home' I nod and the doctor comes back in the room holding something in his hand. I look up at my mummy unsure my mum signs 'The doctor has special glue to put on your cut' I nod and the doctor signs 'Hi Liam. I am going to put this special glue on your head. Is that alright?' I nod and the doctor puts gloves on his hands and he gently puts the glue on my head. I smile because it tickles then the doctor gently pushes the cut together. After that I zone out for a while. I see the doctor talking to my mummy but I don't know what he is telling her.

I feel my mum pick me up. I lay my head on her shoulder. My mummy puts me in the car and I sign 'I wanna sleep mummy' my mummy nods and signs 'I know baby. Try and stay awake for me though' I nod and she goes into the drivers seat and she starts to drive home. Once we are home my mummy gets out of the car. She comes round to my door and she opens it. Mummy helps me unstrap then she lifts me up. I cuddle into her and she carries me inside.

Once we are inside mummy puts me down and signs 'Go and get out of your school uniform then we can cuddle on the sofa and watch a movie.' I nod and go upstairs and I get changed out of my school uniform. I go downstairs and see mummy has put on a child's movie that has someone doing sign language for me. I smile and sit on the sofa next to mummy. She plays the movie and I cuddle into her.

About half way through the movie mummy taps me on the shoulder. I look up at her and she signs 'Do you want to go back to school tomorrow?' I shrug and sign 'None of my friends are there though and I get pushed down' mummy signs 'Niall's and Harry's mummy's has just messaged saying that they are going back to school tomorrow' I nod and sign 'I wanna go then' mummy nods and I watch the movie again.

The next morning still Liam's pov

We have just arrived at school. I look around the car park but I don't see my friends. Mummy signs 'They are probably in the playground' I nod and mummy helps me out of the car. We go in the playground and I see Niall and Harry by our classroom.

I point to them and mummy nods and signs 'go on then. Go over to them' I nod and run over to Niall and Harry. They both wave and I hug them both. When we pull back Niall asks me clearly "What happened to your head Liam?" Mummy comes over and says "Yesterday he got pushed down at lunch time. He had a nasty cut on his forehead which has been glued shut" Harry says clearly "Are you ok now Liam?" I nod and sign 'Are you feeling better?' Both of them nod and Niall says clearly "Louis and Zayn should be back tomorrow" I nod and our teacher opens the door and we all walk through the door. I wave to my mummy and she walks back to her car. My teacher signs to me 'you ok now Liam?' I nod and sign 'My cut on my head got glued shut' our teacher nods and starts the lesson.

A few weeks later no one's pov

Everyone comes back to school the next day. Liam catches up the other boys with what happened at school whilst they were off.
