knee-deep in the water
as the sun beats down on my face
my toes in the sand

i walk deeper until
my waist is now submerged
in the blue, translucent waters

i couldn't bring myself to stop
even with my face now inches away
from becoming one with the sea

i breathe my last breath and close my eyes
i welcome it with open arms
as it does me
