"Chanhee, we'll be sending you over to Maverick for the day. They need an extra mission guide. Yeon and Hyunjae, you guys will be in the simulator with the cadets. Today's the team mission drill."

Jaehyun and Juyeon looked at each other, a smile growing on their faces.

'The cadets', as they were referred to by Jacob, were the same group of orphans that Juyeon had grown up from, training in the mafia as a pastime while they grew up and chose what life they wanted to lead. 

This had to be one of Juyeon's favorite parts of his job, remembering how former mafia members had worked with him as a kid in training.

Jaehyun, however, didn't get to see the kids much because of his high ranking and place in Maverick, but still had the softest spot in his heart for them.

"They're already in the simulator, right? Let's go quickly." Hyunjae pulled Juyeon by his hand, running to the room.

The simulator, a huge arena covered with the combination of Reveal and Maverick's highest edge technology that even billionaires hadn't gotten their hands on yet.

The gigantic room had a flat space on the bottom floor, the surrounding walls having platforms and ladders to climb upwards.

The two adults entered the room, the cadets had their jaws dropped upon seeing some of the most important people in the building.

"Is that Yeon-hyung? He's so tall-"

"Look! It's Hyunjae-hyung!"

"I think I'm going to faint, training with both of them.."

Juyeon had a light blush on his face from how the kids were fawning over them, before Hyunjae spoke up.

"There's a poster on the wall with your team assignments. Stand in front of me or Yeon when you're ready with your gear. Today's simulation is pretty much like laser tag, except that we have to work together and capture areas in the room."

The cadets nodded, racing to the gear room and putting on lit up vests, as well as high-tech goggles. Each player had a lit up laser gun as well.

Juyeon and Hyunjae went into their own room, putting on adult-sized gear and clasping it onto them.

"Here, let me tighten your gear." Juyeon lifted the strap on Hyunjae's waist, pulling it to fit well.

The older flushed slightly, glad the room wasn't bright enough to make his complexion obvious. 

"Thanks." He smiled back, before picking up his gun and going outside with Juyeon.

They headed to their specific teams, checking that the right people were there.

"Jihoon, I see you hiding behind Hyunsuk. I'm well aware that you're dating but you need to be in different teams for the skill sets to be fair." Juyeon snickered, the two blushing kids, separating and Jihoon returning to Hyunjae's team.

Jaehyun started reading from a guideline paper, skimming through it. "Once you put your goggles on and the simulator is activated... there'll be fake walls put up...capture three enemy bases to win..." He threw the paper to the side clapping his hands together. "Long story short, each team has three bases, you defend your base while capturing the others, and when you're shot you have to go to an un-captured base to regenerate. Each team will have ten minutes to decide who will defend or attack, and formulate their plan."

Juyeon spoke up. "The winning team gets piggybacks to the lobby and... bragging rights."

The cadets cheered some holding their weapons in the air in excitement. 

"So put your goggles on now, and we'll have them activated once everyone goes to their respective sides of the arena."

They followed Hyunjae's orders, the two adults going to the opposite sides as well.

"Mashiho, Jeongwoo, and Yoshi will be on defense. Junkyu, Doyoung, and Jihoon will attack with me." 

The goggles were finally activated and the arena darkened. Through the goggles, the simulator showed multiple walls to hide behind, as well as three green-colored gates, acting as the bases.

"The other team will have these on their side too. Looks like we have to shoot at the top at least twenty times to capture it. Should we attack them from above then?" Doyoung suggested.

"Good idea. Since there's four of us... I think we should split up with two people from each side. We'll capture the bases at the edge, and then do the center one together." Hyunjae added. "Junkyu and Doyoung work well together right? You guys will go from the right and Jihoon and I will go from the left. Remember to keep your headset on so we can talk in case the plan goes South."

Jihoon and Hyunjae left the two, standing at the bottom of a ladder to the first platform.

"So... you and Hyunsuk?" The older smirked, recalling Juyeon exposing the couple. "Aren't you guys like.. nine?"

Jihoon's face flushed as he scratched the back of his neck awkwardly. 

"We're seventeen hyung. Didn't you have a relationship when you were a teenager? Or were you just waiting for Yeon hyung to pop into your life?" The younger retorted, catching Hyunjae off guard.

"Oh please. I wouldn't wait for anyone if I really wanted a relationship. Much less Juyeon..."

Wrong.

Wrong again.

"Sure."

Jihoon would have said more, but the instructional speaker started the countdown for the simulation to start. The two got their guns ready, hiding behind a simulated wall on the platform.

"3. 2. 1. Simulation started."

i realized that highschool needs to really be a priority and ive had to give up a lot of things for that

however, i'm definitely not giving up this book because jujae mafia au i could never so basically slow updates will be my new thing

also my red flag is not posting for a month and then posting two chapters at a time to make up for it <3
