Season 1 Episode 3: Dead Mans Party.

The five Shadowhunters walked through the door of the institute all following Clary who was still pissed about Simon being taken.  Khloe was also pissed but for a different reason.

Izzy made a mistake and she said she was sorry. Clary is still pissed though which made Khloe feel bad for Izzy. She apologized and it really wasn't her fault.

Izzy had told the strawberry blond that she told Simon to wait in the car while she checked around to see where the noise came from. How was she meant to know that A. there was two of them B. one was in the car?

Alec made a mistake by even suggesting that the Fray twins were spies for the man who took her mother and tried to return to take them. Who in the right mind would work for someone as sick and twisted as Valentine?

That is why Khloe is pissed. It didn't really help that Khloe was standing beside Alec.

Alec knew what he said was a mistake and he would probably never admit it. He knew that Khloe wasn't a spy he just wasn't thinking straight. He had so much on his mind.  The raven haired boy just had a feeling that something horrible was going to happen.

He didn't know why he had it or what it was he just knew something was going to happen. He knew it wasn't a valid excuse. It was similar to the feeling Khloe had outside the club.

The two both had similar intentions. All they wanted was to protect their siblings. Although they both took different approaches. Alec following every rule he knew and Khloe slapping anything that got in the way.

"I still don't understand how can Shadowhunters be better than what you people call mundanes?" Clary asked stopping to face the four shadowhunters behind her.

"Because we protect humans," Izzy answered as Jace and Alec both crossed their arms.

"Your right humans. You protect humans. You left Simon all alone in the van. Great job, guys. You rock." Clary replied.

"There is some truth to the idea that human beings should have a modicum of common sense," Alec said causing Clary to scoff and Khloe to stifle a laugh at the way he said it.

"Alec, not now." Izzy stopped him.

"Look, they won't do anything to Simon. They just wanted to draw the two of you out. They want the Cup, and they think you have it."

"But we don't. Why do they think that?" Khloe asked.

"Why does anyone think that? What, mom lies to us our entire life except, "Oh, by the way, there's this magical cup I hid on, like, planet Bongo, but don't tell anyone". What are we supposed to do now."

"We have to report this is to the Clave." Alec began "They have to know what we've learned about Valentine." Alec began walking away.

"What that he's our father. Great. Fine. Tell them. What good does that do Simon?" Clary asked Alec.

"Clary, it's all connected. The vamps want the cup." Jace said leaning against the wall.

"Why it makes new Shadowhunters. Don't vampire hate Shadowhunters?" Khloe asked.

"Yes, but nobody wants Valentine forming an army loyal to himself," Alec told the strawberry blond.

"Puls, it controls demons," Izzy added looking at the older Fray.

"They'll propose a trade. Simon for the cup." Jace told the twins.

"So the vampires will trade Simon for the cup. And Valentine will trade our mother for the cup. The very cup that we don't have or have any idea where it is or could be. Lovely." Khloe said crossing her arms.

"Either way we lose someone," Clary said.

"We could always throw it up in the air and see who wins," Khloe suggested with a shrug of her shoulders. Everyone looked at her. "It was just a suggestion." She defended herself.

"Listen when you helped Khloe. I put my trust in you." Clary said looking at Jace. "Now I need you to put your trust in us. I can't turn into what you are overnight."

"It's true they were raised as mundanes," Izzy said.

Alec looked at the strawberry blond. "You seem to be able to defend yourself." He said referring to both times at the club and at their house.

The girl shrugged casually not looking at the boy, her hate for him still there. "Mom and Luke made me take a few self-defense classes a while back."

"Why?"

"Reasons," Khloe replied not wanting to get into it. All she wanted was to help Clary find her best friend. "We need to find Simon." Khloe sent a glance over in Clary's direction before walking out of the entrance and into the main room.

"Look at all these screens." Clary pointed at all the screens. "Can any of these help me find Simon?"

The group of Shadowhunters began walking over to the table in the middle of the room.

"Where is he, anyway? Some kind of crypt in Transylvania?"

"Actually that was Camille's outfit right?" Jace looked at the lightwoods who nodded in agreement. "They're locals."

"They're at Hotel DuMort on Gansevoort street," Izzy said.

"Perfect let's go," Khloe replied.

"We need a Clave resolution for that," Alec said looking at the girl.

"Look at all the fucks I give." The strawberry blond looked at the raven haired boy.

"The five of us can't declare war on the vamps all by ourselves."

"We could try," Khloe suggested

"We can't react without considering our options," Alec said ignoring the strawberry blond. "Downworlders are slaves to their impulses. We're not."

"We could be," Khloe suggested causing Alec to look at her yet again only this time when he looked Khloe just wiggled her eyebrows before looking over at Izzy.

"Alec you can't stomp on all the Downworlders," Izzy said.

"Oh, that's right. Seelies have their charms, apparently." Alec responded tearing his eyes away from Khloe.

Izzy smiled as Jace agreed.

"Seelies?" Clary asked.

"Like faeries. The Fiar Folk." Jace replied. "And pixies, nixies, elves... anybody half-angel, half-demon. It' pretty much a catch-all term."

"Izzy can tell you all about them. She's got a thing." Alec sent a playful look in her direction.

"We've all got our things, don't we?" Izzy shot back smiling.

Khloe laughed, "That we do."

"Okay, I can't listen to this. Simon's been kidnapped by vampires." Clary started. "I guess I'll just take care of it myself." She said walking away from the table and towards the door.

"Clary. Your gonna get yourself killed." Jace called out only for her to keep walking. Jace looked at Khloe asking her for help to which she responded by rolling her eyes and yelling, "Simon too!"

The younger of the two stopped and each of the three Shadowhunters gave Khloe an impressed look before she walked back over to the table.

"While we consider other options, my best friend is suffering. Is that something Shadowhunters understand or am I just being a mundane?" She said.

The three experienced Shadowhunters shared looks before Jace responded with, "Clary's right." He then gestured everyone to move closer before continuing. "They made the first move. We're gonna take care of this ourselves, right now."

"This is a bad idea-" Alec began before Jace cut him off.

"What? Have you got a better one?" Jace asked as the two shared a look. "Look, the vamps broke the Accords. They kidnapped a Mundie. That's a big no-no. The Clave will give us a lecture and they'll be glad we did it come on."

"Hard to argue with that." Izzy agreed.

"Even if we went ahead I don't see how we get out of here," Alec said to Jace.

"I'm a professional at sneaking out," Khloe said casually." Clary shot her a confused look and Khloe's eyes went wide. "I mean..."

The three Shadowhunters laughed lightly as Khloe tried to cover up her mistake.

"Why do you think the fridge is always empty?" Khloe said.

Clary shook her head before focusing on the group as Khloe let out a breath of relief.

"We need weapons, and we can't let anyone see us get them."

"I know where to get what we need," Jace said.

Once the Shadowhunters had successfully made it out of the institute and to the cemetery in Simons van they all jumped out and began looking for some grave.

"So who are we looking for?" Khloe asked slamming the van door.

The strawberry bond's eye scanned over the cemetery in front of her tensing slightly.

"Mary Milligan born January 10th, 1802." Izzy sighed. "Died January 10th, 1878."

"All right, Alec lets go," Jace said as they began to walk through the graves.

"What what are we looking for?" Clary asked.

"A cache of weapons."

"Stashed here with Mrs. Milligan."

"Why are there Shadowhunter weapons in a churchyard?" Clary asked.

"Every ancient culture recognizes demons," Izzy said. "Or at least they used to."

"They forgot about the threat because we've been here to protect them," Alec said looking around the graveyard. "Typical mundane failure of imagination."

"Are you saying we did too good a job?" Izzy asked smiling. "You just can't let up, can you?'

"You know what?" Jace turned t face the lightwood siblings. "Alec, why don't you go check out by the angel?"

Alec rolled his eyes and began to walk over towards the angel.

Khloe watched as he walked away and couldn't help but want to go with him. She still hated that he thought she was a spy but anyone would think that if they were in Alec's position.

"I'm going to go with him," Khloe told the other Shadowhunters not sparing a glance in their direction as she walked after Alec.

Alec had his back to Khloe as he looked over a grave. He was silent as he looked over the grave not noticing Khloe's presence until she spoke.

"Find it?" She asked as she stood beside him.

"No." He said looking up at the girl to his left. "What are you doing over here?" He asked wondering why she wasn't with her sister.

"I'm not a spy." She replied looking over at Alec ignoring his questions. "Just to be clear."

"Yeah, I know that now." He replied letting silence fill the air again as the two look over each grave.

"Are you okay?" Alec asked the girl.

"Hmm? What? Yes. Why wouldn't I be?" She replied as she stopped and looked at the raven haired boy.

"You just seem quiet." He responded. "You've barely said anything since we've got here and I may not know you much but in the time I have you're talking 99% of the time."

"And the other 1%?" Khloe asked.

"You're hitting something or rolling your eyes." He stated with a straight face. "One of the two."

Khloe was quiet for a moment until she realized he was right. "Oh my god."

Alec laughed at her reaction as he continued to search for the grave. Khloe shook her head lightly with a smile before speeding up to Alec's side.

"I can't help that I'm 25% sass." She replied.

"And the other 75%?" He asked.

"Well, I'm also 25% sarcasm and 25% fabulousness." She replied a smile tugging at her colored lips.

"And the final 25%?" He asked turning to face her as she did the same.

She thought for a moment biting her lower lip when it hit her. She looked up at the Lightwood boy and replied, "Sexyness." She said with a wink before a grave behind him caught her eyes. "Hey! I think I found it!" She exclaimed stepping around the lightwood boy and walking up to the grave.

Jace and Clary walked up to the grave as Khloe read what was written one the grave.

"Beloved servant." She read out loud.

"Who would want that on their headstone?" Clary asked.

"Someone who is in service to a cause greater than themselves," Alec replied walking up behind the strawberry blond.

Jace and Clary wiped off some of the leaves on the top of the box like grave.

"At least she is now," Jace said pulling out his stele.

"Abracadabra." Jace smiled.

"Wait, you people actually say that?" Clary asked.

"No, they prefer bibbity bobbity boo," Khloe replied rolling her eyes at her sister before she remembered what Alec said.

When she looked up at the Lightwood boy he was already looking at her with an amused look. She flipped him off with a sarcastic smile on her face before turning to watch Jace moved his Stele over the rune embedded in stone.

It was the same rune Clary spraypainted on the side of Simon's van.

I knew it wasn't a language. Khloe thought.

Jace and Alec pushed the lid off enough for them to open the rather large chest inside. Jace then walked over to the side blowing all the dust off and Alec walked up behind Khloe. The four began pulling the chest open and looked at all the weapons inside.

"Whoa. Where Mrs. Milligan?" Clary asked as she reached in.

"Don't hurt yourself," Khloe told her little sister her tone laced with sarcasm.

Clary pulled out a blade which lit up in her hand.

"Don't touch that. You don't know how to use it." Alec told Clary.

"I do, though." Khloe grabbed the blade from Clary only for her to reach into the box and grab out another blade. Khloe stepped away from the grave and out into the open air to swing it around a bit.

"Don't hurt yourself," Clary told her sister playfully.

"No promises," Khloe replied pointing the blade at Alec. "Fight me."

The boy smiled for a moment before Jace spoke, "I'll teach Clary how to use one. Do you see anything you need in here?" Jace asked Alec who looked in for a moment before looking up at this best friend.

"No. There's no bow. I need one." The ravenette replied. "I have to rune some arrows. That's back at the institute. I gotta go." He began walking away.

"Well, how are you gonna get back in the institute?" Jace asked stepping down from the grave.

"Go in the back?" Alec shrugged.

"I'll go with him and make sure he doesn't get caught," Khloe suggested.

"How good are you at sneaking in and out?" Jace asked.

"Well, Clary and mom never noticed."

"Noticed what?" Clary said looking away from the blade and at her sister who and sent a smile in her direction.

"Nothing Clary go back to staring at the shiny sword," Khloe told her younger sister who did as she was told. "Told you." She looked back at Jace and Alec.

"Alright." Jace nodded at the two.

The began walking away when Alec stopped causing Khloe to stop too and watch him have a moment with Jace before turning around and walking away with Khloe again.

Once Alec and Khloe made it to the institute and had successfully snuck into the training room Alec grabbed his bow from the weapons rack and Khloe grabbed some of the arrows and walked over to the table in the training room and began to rune his arrows.

Khloe watched as Alec ran his Stele along the arrows. Her eyes watched his hands as he concentrated on his arrows and the runes he was putting on them.

Her eyes traveled from the arrows he was holding in his hands to the runes that covered his arms. She took each rune in slowly focusing on the details thinking about what each rune was for. She tilted her head slightly as she stared at the one on his neck then her eyes fell on his face.

His perfect face. She never really had appreciated his face fully. She was always worrying about Simon or Clary or her mother but now that the two were alone and in silence she had the chance to take in how good he really looked.

If she had her camera she would probably take a picture of him discreetly. Then it hit her. She didn't have her camera. Although she didn't feel empty like she normally did without her camera.

It was though she had put down her camera and picked up and sword. Which she had. But it surprised her because she had never parted with her camera.

As a child, Khloe had always felt like something in her life was missing. Like there was a space deep down that could not be filled and no matter what she did it was never fully filled. The only thing that ever came closer to filling it was her camera and best friend.

But ever since Khloe picked up a sword she felt like the space deep inside her was finally filled.

Despite everything going on in her life. She had never felt happier. There was only one minor thing missing and she couldn't quite put her finger on it.

"Alec." A voice from the training room entrance called out startled the two.

The both of them turned to see Hodge walking and over towards them. Alec put the arrow the was runing down and the two stepped in front of the runed arrows and tried to cover them from Hodges view.

"Didn't know the two of you were here." He said.

"Yeah, no, I, uh.." Alec stammered.

Khloe's heart began to race as the Hodge moved closer to the two.

"Don't tell me. I don't want to have to report you." He smiled looking at the two. "I'll leave you to it." He said walking out.

"Hodge," Alec called out to the older man who turned around. "Thank you."

"You remind me of me, Alec. A loyal friend standing in the shadow of the chosen one." Hodge began causing Alec to scoff and Khloe to look down at her feet knowing the feeling of standing in the shadows of someone all too well.

"Don't make the same mistakes I did," Hodge told the boy before walking out of the room leaving the two alone once again.

Khloe stepped away from the table and stood in front of Alec who looked up at the strawberry blond. She smiled lightly grabbing his hand which shocked him a little.

"I know a thing or two about standing in the shadows. I know that it sucks but I also know that it doesn't last forever." She smiled at him looking directly into his eyes. "But I also know that you can't talk to them about it because if you do they'll call you ridiculous and say that you're equal even when you know your not."

She paused for a moment. "I also know that I'm horrible with words and I can never really get out what I want to say and when I do it's very unclear. What I'm trying to say is I don't think you're any less than Jace. In fact, I think you're better than him. Alway looking out for him even if you don't agree with him."

As Khloe was about to let go of his hand his grip tightened and his eyes fell down to their connected hands as he laced his fingers with hers.

He looked up and his piercing blue eyes met Khloe's emerald green ones. He opened his mouth and started to talk when his phone buzzed.

He sighed looking down and grabbing his phone without letting go of the Fray's hand.

"It's Izzy, she found a way in that won't get us killed."

"Okay then let's go." She smiled at Alec as he grabbed everything they needed and the two snuck out of the institute hand-in-hand

"Izzy," Alec called out. "I got your text. Where are we exactly?"

"It's an old meatpacker's service entrance. If we go back there, we come up into the basement of the Hotel DuMort." She said pointing at an entry way smiling. "Perfect right? We distract the vamps, Clary and Jace have time to find Simon."

"Okay," Alec replied simply.

"Okay?" Izzy responded. "It was hard work integrating Meliorn to get this intel."

"I bet it was hard," Khloe smirked at the younger Lightwood. "And long and very tiring. Great job Izzy." The girl laughed at the hidden meaning in her words.

"You have faerie dust on your dress." Alec smiled walking towards the entrance. "I hate being the distraction."

"I don't," Izzy called back as she walked beside Khloe who was following Alec.

"I can see that." Khloe smiled and Alec turned to look at
