A week went by, no good stories really came around. Weeks like this were so boring and dragging, and felt endless. As usual, Kay walked in greeted by her assistant, and so did Ben. Yet, not Ben. His hair was a mess, no gel not even brushed. His shirt was untucked, his tie was still untied as he strolled in. Ben took a deep breath and ran off to the stairs and to his office. Kay watched, she knew something was wrong, Ben didn't look alright and Kay knew that better then anyone else.
A few hours later, as she sits at her desk doing nothing more then signing files and checking drafts, the image and thought of ben fills her head again. Kay was a worrier, she liked to think she was an optimistic person but deep down knew she was anything but that. She worried Ben had let go since the divorce, and what if he leaves? Kay would have never even kis-
Nope. She denied the thought of him leaving, and wouldn't even except it as a possibility. She leaped once again from her chair and made her way to Ben's office. The blinds were shut from the rest of the office, kay slightly gave his assistant a look of confusion. His assistant replied with a nod and bit her lip. Kay gently opened the door as she knocked, seeing Ben leaning over a type writer and a cigarette dangling out his mouth. He took her in again, making her feel safe and then butterflies were in her stomach. Look at the cigarette in his mouth o-
"Can we help Kay?" Arthur said, firmly. Arthur absolutely despised her, she knew it, he knew it. Arthur still couldn't come to terms with the fact she said publish.
"Yes i'd like a word with Ben,"
"Right now?" Arthur replied with, snapping almost.
"Yes Arthur.... now" She snapped back. Arthur grumpily got up from his seat and left the room, leaving Kay and Ben alone. Kay's heels gently left a trail of clacks as she put her coffee on the desk and stood over Ben.
"I know you're not ok Ben,"
"Kay, don't you have som-"
"Ben, you can tell me" She said, soothingly almost coming across in a caring way. Ben ignored her cries to help him, and carried on typing.
"Ben, look a-"
"Katherine, don't you have things to do, i'm fine thanks" He said, not wanting to show any weakness to her.
"Alright" She sighed as she said it. As she made her way to the door Ben quickly looked up at her solemn face, and sighed.

"Sit down Kay" She did so, and laid her coffee down once again.
"It's just... l-lonely you know, an empty house, no one to share a bed with"
Kay nodded agreeing. She had felt this way since the day Phil passed away. A cold bed, an empty house. It was the worst place to be after a long day of work.
"I know, I know what it's like..." Kay nodded again as she said it. Tears filled in Ben's eyes. All his worries and his loneliness finally got to him. He was reminded once again of the day Tony took Marina and left, as he closes his eyes with the pain of it all, he sees Marina crying and Tony puts her in the car, Ben was watching as his only light of his life was whisked away, the car left the street, and Ben fell to the floor, feeling a pain in his heart. He was alone.
A tear falls.
"She t-took my angel" He said and gulped with a lump in his throat. Kay reached for his hand on the table, and gave him a reassuring look.
"It will be alright Ben, it gets better, everything a-"
Ben suddenly stopped looking at Kay, he snatched his hand away and gazed at her like the men did at the table. He had shown weakness, the strong, pirate-like editor-in-chief had shown weakness to someone.
"Kay! IM FINE!" Ben snapped, his anger getting the better of him. Kay startled and her mouth opened in pure shock of his mood swing, she stood up snatching her coffee from the desk.
"B-Ben no need to get angry I was-"
Once again the look of the men came back again. She'd seen it too many times. The look that men gave when they disapproved of someone. When they thought they were silly, cowardly, stupid. Kay saw all of it on Ben's face and felt her hands shaking, she walked out.
Ben sat down once again recovering, kicking his desk slightly in anger.
Kay walked swiftly to her office, and her assistant watched as Kay bit her trembling lip opening the door.
"Ms Graham?" She asked, slightly worried.
Kay didn't say anything, she closed the door behind her and sat at her desk. She once a again felt that heartbreak after she had a argument with Phil. As she laid her coffee down tears fell out her eyes like rivers. Clutching her glasses, Kay looked out the window as more tears fell. There was no hope in Ben loving her now. Not after that. She grabbed her heart as she felt a lump in her throat. She sobbed, letting out whimpers as she did, her hands shaking on either cheek, and she put her head in her arms as she face-planted the desk. She didn't like to admit it but she was a very sensitive person. Anyone raising her voice at her made her quiver and feel sick to her stomach. But this time it wasn't any old businessman or a work colleague, it was the one she wanted to grow old with, the one she wanted to hold her in bed, the one she wanted to make dinner with and eat under candle light. More tears fell, Kay felt more alone then ever, it had happened again.
