Chris was right.
It was first thing that day when Chris stepped foot into the shop and his eyes landed on Felix Lee - stood behind the counter as he often was.
His hair had been cut and dyed but Chris loved it, it made his eyes and freckles stand out in the light of the largest star. He had his head down, hands grasping something - but not just anything.
He had his fingers gripped to 'Just One More Chapter', Chris' book. The words that had been left there for him on the inner front page were sinking into his heart and putting everything back into its place from where it had fallen apart and fallen away.
It seemed he had only just read it, tears welling in his eyes. Tears of an intense joy Felix didn't know if he had ever felt before.
"So... what do you think?" Chris' warm, accented voice echoed through the formerly silent room, causing the most heavenly pair of deep brown eyes to lift up and lock with Chris' own.
Felix's expression was unreadable, a mix of too many emotions for a singular to be labelled to his features. He just placed the book down onto the counter in one swift motion, so quick that if you blinked you wouldn't have seen him do it. And then, before Chris could even say Felix's name, the man was running straight toward him - into his arms.
"I think... I love you." Felix whispered into Chris' ear, his arms wrapped around the man's neck and legs wrapped around his waist - Chris' hands instinctively having reached to hold Felix up and make sure he didn't fall.
"Well, I think the book says all the words for me. But, I love you too." Chris responded, gazing into Felix's endearing eyes as he looked down at him. "I'm sorry for like disappearing, I was with my friends in Sydney. 2 of them are disabled so they can't travel and we rarely get to actually see each other so when they gave me the offer I couldn't turn it-"
"Chris." Felix chuckled, cutting off the other man mid-ramble. "Breathe. It- it's fine now. I promise."
"Alright." Chris muttered, unable to have any other words leave his mouth before Felix's lips were softly pressed to it. Kissing him so delicately it was like if he moved in any further then the man would shatter in his arms, or just whither away like a dream.
But Chris wasn't going anywhere, not this time, not ever again. So he leaned further in, moving over to place Felix on the counter and drift his hands up to either side of the man's face. Kissing him with a considerable amount more passion this time until they were losing themselves in each other's touch.
Felix can say it for a fact, it was totally worth the wait for just one more chapter.
