Kara's POV

I woke up to my alarm and rolled out of the bed. I plopped onto the floor and looked around, a bit confused about what had just happened. I slowly stood up and noticed that Alex, along with a lot of her stuff, was gone. I sighed and made my way to the bathroom.

I took a quick shower and changed into some casual clothes. I gathered my stuff and headed downstairs. I saw Jeremiah and Alex eating breakfast. There was no sign of Alex.

"Good morning, Kara." Jeremiah said with a smile.

"Morning." I mumbled. Eliza and I made eye contact, I could feel the anger she had towards me. I understand why she's mad. I hurt her only true daughter.

I decided to walk to school once again. I ate a poptart on the way. My only goal for today is to stay away from everyone and try not to hurt more people. I've done enough damage. it's probably best if I just stay away.

I made it to my locker and got everything ready for the day. I shoved my phone into my back pocket and nearly teared it.

  "Morning Kara!" Lena said, happily.

  "Morning." I smiled.

"You must have walked again?" Lena questioned.

"Yeah. I did." I said. I saw Alex walk in a few moments later. Her hand was in a slim cast and me and her stared at each other. I looked down at my feet as she walked past us.

'Woah, what happened to her?" Lena asked.

"I have to use the bathroom. I'll meet you in English class." I said, almost running towards the bathroom. I accidentally bumped into someone on the way and nearly broke into tears.

"Kara! Long time no see." I heard Kenny say.

"Hi Kenny. Can't talk. I have to go." I quickly ran off. I remained in the bathroom until I heard the first bell ring, signaling that class was going to start in 5 minutes. I took a deep breath and made my way back to the class.

As I walked in, I saw James at the front of the room. He was wearing a sling around his arm and there was a noticeable brace around his stomach. We looked at each other for a moment and I put my head down and sat down in the back of the room away from everyone else. Lena must have been confused as to why I didn't sit next to her as she made her way to the desk next to mine quickly.

  "Are you alright?" She asked.

"Yeah." I said, bluntly. Winn sat on the other side of me and I began to feel a bit overwhelmed. I felt as if I could hurt them at any moment. I don't want to hurt anyone but I feel as if it is inevitable.

  "Hey Winn." Lena said.

"Hi, Lena." He smiled. I was shocked at their interaction. Are they becoming friends?

"So how was your Saturday date thing with James?" Winn asked.

"Fine." I replied. Lena looked at me, probably a bit confused as I don't think I told her about me and James going out.

"He looks a bit rough. What do you think happened to him?" Winn asked.

"Not sure. He wasn't like that when I saw him." I replied, quietly.

English class passed by ever so slowly. I felt like Lena and Winn were continuously asking me questions about James and Alex. Lena stayed more quiet but still seemed like she knows something which is worrying me.

Me and Lena moved to Algebra class and on the way she grabbed my hand and pulled my into a nearby classroom. It was empty as it isn't currently in use.

"Something is wrong with you." Lena said.

"I'm fine, Lena. Don't worry about me." I said.

"I wasn't born yesterday, Kara. You went out with James and now he's injured. And Alex is injured and shows up to school with a friend." Lena said.

"Listen, I don't know what happened with James or Alex. Alex left yesterday afternoon for friends. She must have hurt it then. And James never even showed up for our thing on Saturday so it doesn't even matter!" I said loudly.

  "Oh.." She mumbled.

"Can we please just get to class?" I said, trying to push past her.

  "Kara.." She muttered.

  "What?"

"You're hurting. I can see it. James isn't worth your time." She said. I tried to speak but nothing came out. I started to cry even though I didn't want to show any weakness in front of Lena.

"Kara.. Hey.. It's okay. You're okay." She said. "How about we just skip algebra and stay in here?" I nodded.

We sat down on the floor and I rested my head on her shoulder. She kept me calm and I wasn't sure whether I should tell her a bit about what happened or not. I obviously can't tell her about my powers, but maybe I can just tell her about what he threatened.

"Do you want to tell me what happened?" She said quietly.

  "James threatened me." I mumbled.

"What did he say?" She asked.

"He said he would make my life a world of.. A world of pain." I sniffled.

"So you attacked him?" She asked.

"He pinned me against the tree and.. I just snapped. Adrenaline or something..." I whispered.

"What you did was necessary. Don't feel bad about it." She said.

"What if I had killed him?" I cried.

"Kara.. You couldn't have killed him. He just learned his lesson." She reassured me.

The bell rang so Lena and I decided to to leave. As we walked out of the classroom, Winn was walking by. He quickly turned to look at us. A smirk grew on his face.

"So... What were you guys doing in there?" He grinned.

"Oh shut it. We didn't do anything like that." Lena rolled her eyes.

"Do anything like what?" I asked.

"You guys didn't spend that whole period making out in the empty classroom?" He said sarcastically.

"No, Winn. We weren't in there kissing." She replied.

"You can kiss girls?" I asked. Both of them turned their heads towards me quickly.

"Of course you can. You can kiss whoever you want." Lena said.

"Back.. Back where I lived it wasn't like that." I replied.

"Well, here you can like whoever you want. Some people might not support, but a lot of people nowadays are very accepting." Winn said.

"We should get to P.E." I said, changing the topic.

"Right.. I'll see you in biology!" Lena said with a sympathetic smile on her face. Winn and I walked off towards the gym.

"You really didn't know that you can kiss girls?" Winn asked.

"No." I mumbled. "It wasn't a thing on K.. Kaznia."

We walked into the gym and met up with Nia and Sam.

"Did you guys see what happened to James?! It looks like he got beat up." Sam said.

"Do you think him and Alex got in a fight? She's injured and he's injured." Nia said.

"That's actually really smart. That's a good possibility." Winn said.

"Don't act so surprised. I'm smart too. I just don't show off like you guys do." Nia rolled her eyes.

"Oh. You went out with James, didn't you Kara? Do you know what happened?" Sam asked. I shook my head and took a seat at the bleachers.

"I'm going to be picking four of you to be a demonstration for todays activity." Mr. Prince said.

"I would offer to help, Mr. Prince. But I'm injured." James said, looking over at me. I put my head down. Nia must have noticed.

"Did something happen between you two?" Nia asked.

  "No." I said.

"I can see that, Jimmy. So, I will be picking four uninjured people. How about.." he looked down at his clipboard. "Kara Danvers, Sam Arias, John Fredricks, and Kenny Li."

  "Oh no.." I mumbled.

"Uh.. Sir. What are we doing demonstrating?" A young boy, who I'm presuming is John, said.

"The basics of wrestling. Such as proper positioning, basic moves, and other things like that. Whoever does well, has the option to join the wrestling team." He stated.

  "I can't wrestle." I said.

"That's why we are here to learn. Kara, Sam, John, and Kenny please come stand on these mats." He said.

I slowly made my way up front with the other three and Alex looked worried. I wasn't sure how I can get out of this one. I can't hurt anyone. If Sam punched me or something she could break her hand.

"Sir, I really can't wrestle." I said as I approached him.

"Nonsense, Kara. I know you can do it. You have stamina, strength, and you're smart about your movements. I've seen you work over the last week. You would be a great addition to our wrestling team." He stated.

  "No.. You don't understand. I can't wrestle!" I said.

"Why not? What makes you believe that you can't?" He asked, drawing me away from everyone else so we could talk in private.

"I just can't. I've tried it in the past. It didn't work. I hurt someone so I just can't." I said.

"I can understand why you're nervous. But I'll make sure you don't hurt anyone." He said.

  "I won't do it." I said.

  "Kara-" He started.

"I need to go. I'll see you tomorrow." I said, making my way out of the gym.

"Kara!" He tried to call me back but I kept walking. As I walked through the halls I became more and more frustrated. Why couldn't I just be normal?

"Miss Danvers." I turned around slowly.

"Uh.. Hello." I said as I noticed the principle.

"Come to my office please." He said. I nodded and followed him. I sat down in one of the chairs and noticed an older woman sitting in the other.

"Kara. This is Ms. Green, our school counsellor. If you would like, we can turn one class period per week into a session with her. She can help you overcome any issues you are going through right now." He said. I nodded slowly.

"Would you like that?" She asked.

"I don't know. I don't think you could actually help me." I paused. "Sorry if that sounded rude.."

"You're alright, dear. Don't feel like you have to but it's been known to help to talk about it." She said.

"I guess we can." I mumbled.

"Awesome.. Is there any specific day or period you would like off?" The principle asked.

  "Spanish." I said.

"Alright.." He turned his attention to his computer and typed a few things before looking back at me.

"Does Friday during your Spanish period work fine?" He asked. I slowly nodded.

"I'll see you then, Kara." Ms. Green smiled and left the room. I got up to leave too but was interrupted.

"Sit back down, Miss Danvers." He said. I lowered myself back in the seat.

"I understand that you are going through something but I need you to realize that you can not leave class in the middle of it. It's disrespectful to the teachers and people around you. Now, I also heard that you and Ms. Luthor skipped your Algebra class. I am asking that you come by after your last period to discuss this." He said.

  "Sorry." I mumbled.

"Go back to your class. I'll tell Mr. Prince that you're on your way." He said. I left his office without saying anything and went back to the gym. As I walked in, many people stared at me. I ignored them and went to sit next to Nia and Winn. Sam was doing the demonstration with another girl. It was worth it as long as I didn't have to fight her.

"What happened?" Nia asked as I sat down.

"I have to go to the school counsellor on Fridays now." I explained. "And the principle wants to talk to Lena and I after school."

"Wait why does he want to talk to you and Lena??" Nia asked.

"They skipped second period and hid out in the empty classroom." Winn said.

"Oh.. OH! So.. Are you and Lena like.. A thing?" Nia asked.

"What? No!" I said. "She was just helping me work through something."

  "Oh. My bad." Nia said.

"Don't worry. Winn thought the same thing." I said. "I don't want to be in a relationship with anyone or kiss anyone. Ever."

"It's not worth the risk." I mumbled.

"What do you mean by that?" Nia asked.

"It doesn't matter. It's just not for me." I smiled.

"I guess that's fair." Winn shrugged.

P.E. ended soon after and I headed towards my locker to meet up with Lena.

"Hey, Kara. How are you doing?" She asked.

  "I'm fine. I got-"

"Miss Luthor. Miss Danvers." I heard the principle say.

"Mr. Harper." Lena slightly tilted her head down.

"I was going to wait until after school to speak with you both, but I have an impromptu meeting then so I'm asking that you both come to my office right now." He said.

We followed him to his office and sat down. Both of us felt uneasy, I could tell. I was praying to Rao that he wouldn't call our parents. I'm already hated by Eliza. If I do anything else to make her mad, she could send me away.. Wait a minute.. She could send me away! I know what I have to do. It will just involve a little rule breaking and exposing that I'm alien to Lena. But it will be worth it.

"You girls are in trouble. Skipping class is wrong and I have no choice but to call your parents and give you detention for a week starting tomorrow." He said.

"No." I looked straight into his eyes.
