Kara woke up early in the morning and looked over, expecting to see emptiness and space. She had nearly forgotten that she was on Earth now, living with the Danvers family. It had only been a week since she had arrived and she wasn't really settling in. Alex had woken up at around the same time and they had a stared down, both knowing that it was race on to get to the bathroom first.Kara, of course, used her super speed and got there first. She stuck my tongue out at her new sister before slamming the door. Kara couldn't see her but she could tell that she was rolling her eyes.

"C'mon girls! Breakfast is ready and today is a big day!" They heard Eliza yell.

"Hurry up you dummy!" Alex said banging in the door.

"Yeah yeah! I'm almost done." She said, rolling her eyes. She slid the brush through her hair and stared at herself in the mirror. She gave herself a smile before walking out of the bathroom.

"All yours, your highness." Kara said, jokingly as she allowed Alex to go into the bathroom.

"Whatever." She said, rolling her eyes and pushing past Kara. She quickly ran into the bedroom that Alex and Kara share. She picked an outfit for the day, black leggings and a maroon colored T-shirt.

She made her way downstairs and saw Eliza and Jeremiah kissing along with 2 plates of pancakes on the dining table.

"Yuck." Kara said, to the older couple before sitting down. They chuckled a bit before coming over to the table with two plates of their own. Soon enough Alex came and sat down next to her at the table. They all started chowing down on the delicious breakfast.

"Are you girls ready for orientation?" Eliza asked, breaking the silence.

"Yup." Alex said before taking another bite of her food.

"I'm not sure.." Kara mumbled. "I feel nervous about today. I'm not really sure what high school entails? We don't have it on... We didn't have it on Krypton.."

"You'll be fine, Kara. High school isn't as bad as I'm sure you think it is." Jeremiah assured her. Kara smiled and nodded before finishing her meal and taking her plate to the sink. She rinsed it off, making sure no syrup was left on the plate and stuck it in the dishwasher.

She watched television on the couch until it was time to leave for orientation. As she got in the car, she felt her heart speed up. The car ride there felt never ending to the young girl even though it was only a 5 minute drive.

They stepped out the car and Kara saw many other people her age. She began to feel very overwhelmed as her ears began ringing. Unintentionally picking up all of the conversations happening through the school with her super-hearing.

Kara cried out in frustration, collapsing to the ground and covering her ears.

"Kara what happened, sweetie?" Eliza said, kneeling down and putting her hand on Kara's shoulder.

"I see and hear everything, everyone.." Kara said, with a tear in her eye. The ringing hadn't stopped yet. Jeremiah ran back to the car and returned a minute later carrying a pair of glasses.

"Put these on, Kara. They are lined with lead and should help that pain go away." He said, handing Kara the pair of glasses. She quickly put them on and it seemed to help almost instantly. At least she was able to focus on her hearing without worrying about her vision. Luckily, nobody in the school had noticed. Alex seemed a bit worried but said nothing. Nothing that Kara could remember at least.

"Are you alright now, hun?" Eliza asked. Kara nodded and started walking towards the large school We made our way to the Principal's office.

As we entered the office Kara saw what she assumed to be the principal, although Kara noted that he didn't look like royalty. She pondered if it could be one of his guards.

"Ah! The Danvers' sisters. I've been so excited to meet you two." He said, smiling at them.

"Kara, honey." Eliza said, grabbing her hand. "This is Principal Harper. He will always be in this office if you need his help."

Kara nodded at Eliza before diverting her attention back at the principal, shooting him a short, crooked smile.

"Here are your schedules." He said, handing Alex hers first and then passing one to Kara. She looked over the schedule.

"Oh cool! A prince teaches here!" Kara exclaimed, pointing to 'Mr. Prince's' name and showing Eliza. When she saw Alex sigh and shake her head, she realized that she must have messed up somehow. Eliza just chuckled and nodded.

"You all can head to Mrs. Dean's class. She is both Alex and Kara's homeroom teacher and also their English teacher." He said.

"Thank you, Principal Harper." Jeremiah said, escorting us out of the room.

  "Eliza?" Kara said.

  "Yes, Kara?"

"Is Mr. Prince not a real prince?" Kara asked.

"No, honey. It's just a name." Eliza said, smiling.

"Oh.. Alright." Kara said, disappointment very apparent in her tone.

They made it to Mrs. Deans classroom and found a bunch of other kids there. Kara turned her head towards Eliza and she could see the nervous expression on her face.

"It's alright, Kara. Me and Jeremiah have to sit out on this part, just stay by Alex." Eliza said, smiling. Kara nodded, taking a deep breath and walking into the classroom with Alex. They sat down beside each other in the middle of the classroom. Kara could tell Alex didn't want to be seen sitting with her so Kara decided it would be best to not to talk to her at all.

"Alright, Class! My name is Mrs. Dean. Welcome to orientation. How about we go around the classroom and say our names and one cool fact about ourselves." She said. A few hands flew up, volunteering to go first.

"Hey. My names Jimmy but my friends call me James. I have a sister named Kelly and my favorite color is red." One of the boys said.

"My names Winn. I.. uh.. I really like computer class." Another said, quickly.

Then I saw Alex's hand shoot up. The teacher called on her to go next. She shot me a look before starting to talk.

"Hi. My names Alex. My favorite class is P.E." She said.

"Psst. Alex..?" Kara said, leaning over towards her desk. Alex took a deep breath as she rolled her eyes.

  "What.?" She said, blankly.

"What's a P.E? We didn't have that on Krypton." Kara whispered.

"Don't say stuff like that in public!" She shot back. "It's basically a workout class. Now be quiet."

Kara nodded, straightening back out at her desk and looking to the front of the classroom where the teacher stood, making direct eye contact. Kara gulped, realizing that it must be her turn to speak.

"Kara, what about you?" She said. Suddenly, Kara felt the whole class staring at her and she froze. She took a deep breath before speaking. She had never talked to this many people at once, and she was worried she would forget a word or mispronounce something.

"I.. Uh.. My name.. My name is Kara.." She said.

"What's one cool fact about yourself?" She asked with a smile.

"Uhh.. I like space?" Kara said, looking down and trying to avoid any eye contact with other people. Kara heard someone chuckle across the classroom but didn't care enough to check who it was.

The rest of orientation was a blur. Kara could remember her talking about stuff like rules, and going over our schedules before she them. They walked out of the classroom together and Jeremiah and Eliza were waiting for them outside.

"How did it go, girls?" Eliza asked.

"Fine." Alex said. "I'm ready to go home."

Kara nodded in agreement and they all walked to the car together. Kara and Alex hopped in the back seat and headed home.

As we made it home, Alex was the first one inside. Kara noted that she didn't seem very happy as she made her way inside right after her. She went up to their bedroom and Kara went to the kitchen and made herself a sandwich. She knew that being nervous made her insanely hungry, so it was safe to say she way starving after a day like that. She ate her sandwich in two bites and ran upstairs with the intention to go lay in bed but quickly realized that Alex had locked the door.

"Alexxxxx!!" Kara said, banging on the door. "Let me in!!"

"Yeah, whatever." Alex said, unlocking the door. Kara walked into the room and shot her a dirty look which she graciously returned. Kara sat down on her bed and started reading a book that Eliza had gotten her. It's about the different animals here on Earth and Kara found it quite interesting.

"Why are you mad at me?" Kara huffed, putting my book down and looking over at Alex who was playing on her phone.

"I'm not mad at you." She said.

"I can read minds you know." Kara lied, hoping that Alex would believe her and spill the truth.

"What? You can?!" She said, getting a bit nervous.

"Well, not actually.. But I just want to know what I did wrong?" Kara asked with a frown on her face.

"You didn't do anything wrong, Kara. It's just been a crazy week. I'm not used to having a sibling." She said.

"Oh.. Alright.." Kara said, starting to pick up her book again. She looked up briefly in Alex's direction, noticing Alex about to speak but closing her mouth before any words came out and shaking her head. Kara brushed it off and went back to reading her book.

Kara continued reading the book and quickly decided that her favorite animal was the cat.

"Alex..?"

"Yeah?" She replied, looking over at her.

"How does one get a cat? Are they rare?" Kara asked.

"A cat? No they aren't rare at all. We have a few strays around here but I don't think Mom will let you have one." She said.

"You mean the cats are homeless?" Kara asked in horror.

"Yeah.. They live on the street and eat birds and stuff."

"WHAT?!" Kara was shocked.

"Uh yeah? It's the circle of life." Alex said, chuckling.

"Do they not cook them first?" Kara asked.

"No! They can't." Alex said.

"Why not?"

"They don't know how. And even if they did, they don't have thumbs." Alex said.

"So they just eat raw meat?"

"Yup."

"I don't think I want a cat anymore." Kara frowned.

Alex just laughed and went back to scrolling on her phone.

"Hey Alex?" Kara said.

"What?"

"What to I have to prepare for school?" Kara asked.

"Well, we still have a week before it starts. Just make sure you have all of your books and notebooks in your backpack. Oh, and study your schedule and the school map, try and figure out what paths you have to take everyday." She said.

"Thanks." Kara said, grabbing her schedule and the school map. She decided to take a minute to fully ready her schedule and attempt to memorize her teachers names.

Kara had to admit that she was frightened by the amount of classes on her schedule. Back on Krypton she was already graduated, and they only ever had 3 classes in a day. She then looked at her school map and started planning out her routes from classroom to classroom to ensure that she wouldn't get lost.

"Girls! Dinner is ready!" Kara heard Eliza yell. Kara jumped up in excitement. She hadn't been able to enjoy many Earth foods yet, and everything Eliza had made so far had been delicious and new.

Kara looked at the table, and eyed the food that was on the plate, she noted that it looked a lot like worms, an animal that she had ready about in her book today. She didn't know that humans ate them, as the book didn't say anything about that. Nonetheless she was excited to try the meal as all of Eliza's food had been delicious so far.

Kara took a big first bite of the food with a smile on her face. "Wow, Eliza! These worms are amazing. Who knew they tasted so good?" She joyfully said. Eliza and Alex chuckled a bit.

"Kara, honey. Those aren't worms." Eliza said.

"But.. They kinda look like the ones in the book you got me?"

"They do, don't they?" She said, chuckling. "It's called spaghetti. Its noodles and sauce."

"Hm. Either way this is really good." Kara said, as she finished her plate off. She washed her plate off in the sink and headed back up to her bedroom. She laid down in bed and decided to call it an early night. She pulled the covers over my head and slowly drifted off to sleep.
