Reimi Sugimoto, the spectral guardian of the alley between life and death, had watched helplessly as more victims joined her in the afterlife. Each bore the same marks of violation—hands severed from their bodies, their final moments filled with incomprehensible terror. She remembered her own death with painful clarity, being the first to fall prey to Yoshikage Kira's developing murderous proclivities.

The breakthrough came when Rohan Kishibe, the eccentric manga artist with the Stand Heaven's Door, began documenting suspicious individuals in Morioh.
