............................................................
Your eyes lazily scanned the crowd, your expression bored. You really didn't want to be here, these weren't your type of people. Your friend had convinced you to come to this party, and now she was god knows where. You noticed a familiar trench coat out of the corner of your eye. A small smile tugged at your lips and you followed the man onto the deserted patio. He lit a cigarette leaning against the wall. You quietly closed the sliding glass door behind you.
"John Constantine, the man who breathes trouble. Here for the free booze or did you have a demon to get rid of?"
John jumped slightly, turning to face you. He smiled and shrugged, exhaling a cloud of smoke. He none to discreetly checked you out.
"Bit of both. What about you love? You've never been one for socializing." John teased.
This time you shrugged and took a sip of your drink.
"I got roped into it, kind of like that time you used my blood to summon a demon remember that?"
He rubbed the back of his neck, smiling sheepishly.
"Ah, right, thought I apologized for that?" John muttered.
"Which part? Cutting my wrist to deep or the demon chasing me for an hour because you did the spell wrong?" You raised an eyebrow.
"You really hold a grudge don't you love?" John chuckled.
"Only for you Johnny boy." You winked.
The two of you fell into a comfortable silence, staring at the night sky. You decided to try to strike up a conversation.
"So how's Chas been?"
John sighed lighting another cigarette.
"Don't Y/N."
You gave him an innocent look, pretending you weren't trying to crack his shell.
"Not sure what you're talking about."
He scoffed and dropped his cigarette to the ground, crushing it under his shoe.
"You lie about as well as a demon love, I know what you're up to." John said.
"Then let's cut to the chase."
He shook his head, making you frown at his next words.
"Best if you stay away from me, nothing good comes from trying to get close to me."
He went to walk away but you grabbed his tie. He stumbled, caught off guard, and dropped is cigarette.
"We're both broken John, you're going to need a better excuse than that."
He stared at you for a moment, narrowing his eyes. He'd known you for years, knew if you set your mind on something you wouldn't back down. He wanted to be with you, but was to worried about you.
"Only a fool would want to get close to me love, I bring nothing but death." He warned.
Your eyes lit up at the challenge in his voice. He didn't really think he could push you away that easily, did he?
"Then maybe I'm a fool."
You let go of his tie, and he stood up straight, fixing it, as he eyed you carefully. You weren't about to back down, and he knew it.
"Everyone around me either gets hurt or dies Y/N. It's better for me to be alone."
You gave him a smile and shrugged. You knew being around him was dangerous, knew it could cost you your life. You didn't care.
"I don't mind being lonely with you."
"You almost died last time I saw you." He reminded you.
"But I didn't." You countered.
John stared at you for a moment, he couldn't stop himself from smiling, and he laughed.
"Bloody hell, you're stubborn." He chuckled.
You only laughed and wrapped your arms around his neck.
"I didn't hear a no though."
