The Light

We huddled into the closet, light shining through the rivets.

Jimin held my hand, both of us breathing heavily.

We watched in horror as another poor soul from our group of shaggy survivors was lured into the light.

I whimpered and Jimin moved to hold me, covering my mouth as tears fell down.

I was tired of being scared, but the light always seemed to find us.

After a while, it faded. Jimin relaxed and I sobbed.

He didn't try to comfort me, knowing it was useless to try after I see people get taken.

We stayed in the closet, Jimin using his walkie to call for backup...a rescue crew, anyone.

"Out of range," he muttered.

"Jimin," I wiped my eyes once again, turning to him, "When will this stop?"

He sighed, bringing his hand to the back of my head and pulling our foreheads together, "I don't know," he whispered.

After a flat second I muttered, "That doesn't help."

He lightly smiled, then pulled away, standing up and extending his hand towards me.

I took it, pulling myself up as he watched for the light.

"We should be fine for now. We'll have to be careful going back though. We should hurry, Jungkook, Tae and the hyungs are probably worried."

"Yeah," I nodded, swiftly moving to grab the bag our fallen comrade dropped during his dazed state.

"Kookie," Jimin grabbed my arm as I started to walk pass him.

I stopped and looked up from the destroyed floors.

"I'll protect you. Don't worry."

I smiled, turning to him and nodding, "Thanks hyung. I'll watch your back too."

He laughed a bit, shaking his head, then pulled me out of the room, down the flights of stairs and into the streets of turmoil.

That world didn't affect me much, not as long as I was with Jimin.
