I was about to put my phone away when Ruby Jane looked at me curiously.

"Who was it?" she asked, her voice soft but laced with curiosity.

I smiled at her reassuringly. "Oh, it was just my assistant."

I sat on the bed beside her and poked her cheek, watching as her face scrunched up in a way that made her look even more adorable. I couldn't help but squish her soft cheeks, making her pout playfully.

"Can I have your time for the whole day?" I asked, my fingers still gently squeezing her face.

She smiled and nodded without hesitation. That was all I needed. Leaning in, I placed a small kiss on her forehead before getting up to fetch our clothes.

"How about we eat first?" I suggested as I tossed her outfit onto the bed.

She hummed in agreement while slipping into her clothes.

We left the hotel shortly after, and since my car was still in the shop, I called my private driver. While waiting, Ruby Jane scrolled through her phone, then looked up at me with a knowing smile.

"I know a good place. Let’s go there," she suggested.

I nodded, trusting her choice.

When we arrived, I noticed the restaurant’s staff gathering near the entrance. They greeted us in unison, but their expressions held a hint of fear. Some kept their heads down, others sneaked nervous glances at Ruby Jane.

I frowned slightly but quickly masked my confusion. Instead, I reached for Ruby Jane’s hand, lacing our fingers together. She turned to me with a smirk.

"This is mine," she said simply, her voice carrying a sense of ownership and confidence.

I blinked at her, puzzled. Before I could ask, the manager appeared and respectfully led us to a VIP room, pulling the chairs out for us.

Once we were seated, I looked at her, my curiosity only growing.

"Did you just say this place is yours?" I asked, raising an eyebrow.

She leaned back in her chair, crossing her arms. "Mhm."

"Wait... do you know this is my favorite restaurant?"

She chuckled, picking up her menu casually. "Of course, that’s why I bought it." She winked at me.

I stared at her, my heart skipping a beat. It wasn’t just her wealth or power that left me speechless—it was how effortlessly she did things for me, how she paid attention to every little detail.

I shook my head with a small laugh, feeling warmth spread through my chest. "You’re unbelievable."

She simply smiled.

After we ate…

As I was sipping my drink, my phone buzzed again. I sighed, about to ignore it, but then I saw the caller ID. My fingers froze.

Dad.

I instinctively glanced at Ruby Jane. She noticed my hesitation and gave me a small nod, silently telling me it was okay to answer.

I took a deep breath and picked up the call, keeping the phone against my ear.

ON THE CALL:

"Is it true that you got cheated on?" My father’s voice was sharp, serious. There was no greeting, no warmth—just straight to the point.

My throat went dry. I parted my lips to respond, but before I could say anything, he continued.

"Come to the restaurant later. You have to meet this girl."

And just like that, he hung up. No explanation. No room for discussion.

I pulled the phone away from my ear, staring at the screen in disbelief.

When I looked up, Ruby Jane wasn’t meeting my eyes. She was staring at the table, her fingers lightly tapping against her glass.

Something felt off.

"Jane?" I called softly.

She looked up, forcing a small smile, but there was something unreadable in her gaze.

What was she thinking? And more importantly… why did I suddenly have a bad feeling about this meeting?

IM REALLY SORRY IF I DIDN'T PUBLISHED ANYTHING THIS PAST FEW WEEKS? I WAS SO BUSY AT MY STUDIES AND DON'T WORRY I'LL POST MORE IN THE FUTURE,I PROMISE
