y/n pov

A regular morning for me consists of complaining about being tired, driving to school with Demetri, and dreading 1st period. I was currently spacing out, as I slug in the passenger seat of Demetri's car.

"Earth to y/n, are you alive?" I hear Demetri ask, drawing me back to reality.

"Yes, I'm alive, but like not really" I respond, rubbing some sleep off of my eyes.

"Well good, cause you're gonna wanna look at this" he says before pointing out the window, to his left. I squint a little bit at first until I notice exactly who Demetri was talking about. Hawk.

Me and Demetri used to be best friends with him, before he changed from sweet Eli, into a real bully. I will never understand why Hawk became exactly what he had sworn to hated. Bullies used to make his life miserable, and now he was the bully.

"y/n, are you ok?" I hear Demetri ask. I then realize I was staring at Hawk, who still hadn't noticed us.

"Uhm yea, just thinking" I say, trying my best to save myself.

"Yea me too, I still cant believe it" Demetri responds, talking about the boy I'd just been staring at. I nod back at him and lean back in my seat. No matter what I just couldn't shake the thought of Eli, or whoever he was now.

Beginning Of Flashback

"I can't believe you did that!" I exclaim, bursting out laughing as me and my two best friends, Eli and Demetri begin running out of the mall and into the parking lot.

"That was crazy!" Eli whisper shouts. Demetri had just attempted stealing a new video game from the mall. But obviously he failed, which caused the store manager to start yelling and cursing. The three of us dropped everything and ran out of there as soon as possible. I was trying to catch my breath as I felt a familiar presence next to me. Eli.

"That was fun, right?" he asks me in a slight whisper so that Demetri wouldn't hear.

"Yea" I smile back, my cheeks stared heating up and I felt my stomach start to swell up with butterflies. This occurred any time me and Eli were alone together, even though Demetri was jogging just a little behinds us I still felt like me and Eli were the only people on the planet. I've had a secret crush on him since the first day I met him, in 3rd grade, now we were in 9th grade and I still haven't confessed my feelings to him. Maybe because I didn't necessarily want a relationship, or maybe because I was so scared of all the ways Eli could reject me. I was ok with staying as one if his best friends, instead of girlfriend, as long as I still had sweet Eli.

"Guys slows down, you know running or any sort of exercise is not my thing" Demetri exclaims, truing his best to catch up to me and Eli.

"Sorry" Eli laughs, brushing over the tiny moment we just had.

"Yea, sorry Binary Best friend" I tease, falling in line with the two boys. I'd been calling Demetri that ever since him and Eli came up with their own name for themselves, binary brothers, which did not include me. I feel Eli stiffen up next to me, unsure of why. I didn't want to be pushy with him so I just let it go and continue walking along with Eli and Demetri, my two best friends.

End Of Flashback

Reminiscing back on my times with Eli always made me feel some sort of longing, he was my best friend for years and over night he stabbed both me and Demetri in the back like it was absolutely nothing. My heart ached at the thought of how he could do that to us, after everything we'd been though. But the past was in the past, we clearly meant nothing to Eli so we have to stop waisting our energy on him.

Hawks pov

As I walk into school I try to puff out my chest and stand a little taller, now that I was in Cobra Kai I couldn't dare lose the title that I'd earned. I used to be such a little bitch, but now I was really something. I could loose it just as fast as I got it, but I wasn't going to let that happen because Eli was dead, I'm Hawk now and there's no changing that.

"Hey man!" I hear Mitch say, knocking me out of my thoughts.

"Whats up" I respond, going in for a lazy bro handshake.

"Nothing much, but look you gotta see this shit" Mitch tells me pulling me more towards the center of the hallway. I look around for a little bit, trying to find what exactly I should be looking at, but then I see it.

Its y/n, with all her books scattered across the floor, along with her glass shattered about everywhere. Right next to y/n stood Kyler, my sort of new friend. He was laughing at her and him and friends  seemed to be having a hoot over the girl beside them. At first I didn't feel anything when I saw it, until I remembered how I used to stand right next to y/n when ever this happened. I used to be the bud of the joke to.

"Hey Hawk, look at her, isn't she pathetic" Kyler calls out to me, pointing back at y/n trying to get all her books while also cleaning up the shattered glass. y/n's eyes immediately fly up to meet mine, she looks like she's calling out for help, like she needs me, but I didn't need her anymore because I'd gotten popular while she stayed a looser. I went to Cobra Kai and she went to myagi do, there was no way I could help her. All I could do was send a small nod to Kyler before turning around and making my way to 1st period.

Beginning Of Flashback

y/n and Demetri were supposed to come over tonight, they said they would help cheer me up over what happened at school today, because my parents would be out late. Today at lunch, counselor Blatt told everyone that my mom had called the School about people bullying me over my lip. Well she didn't exactly say my name, but I'm the only one at school with a cleft lip so its pretty easy to put the pieces together.

y/n and Demetri must be here, they went every where together so I doubt its just one of them and that the other is coming at a different time. Seeing them together all the time made me jealous, I've had a secret crush on y/n since the first year we met and it always feels like the wrong time to confess my feelings because Demetri could always come in and swoop in and take her from me when ever he wants.

As I open the door I'm sort of shocked at who is standing on the other side, y/n, all by herself, no Demetri attached to her hip.

"Hey" she smiles.

"Hey y/n, where Demetri" I ask shyly, opening up the door more so that she can walk inside.

"Oh he's just running a little late he should be here soon though. How are you feeling over everything that happened at school. I'm really sorry".

"Its fine, you don't have to be sorry. I've gotten used to it".

"Eli, you shouldn't have to be used to these people doing all these cruel things to you. You don't deserve it".

"It's life y/n. Theres nothing we can do about it" I sigh.

"I know and that sucks, but for what it's worth I love your lip and it makes you, you. Theres nothing wrong with it". I feel my heart beating start two quicken up at her words, the girl I like just told me that she loved my lip.

"Thanks y/n, it really means a lot".

"No problem" she says, taking a step closer to me. our faces were now only a couple of inches apart. If I really wanted to I could lean in and we would be kissing. I did really want to. I take a deep breath before leaning in.

"Hey guys!" Demetri shouts. Me and y/n quickly jump away from each other. Our lips were so close, we almost kissed and she didn't resist at all.

"Hey Demetri" I mumble, inching away from y/n. Our moment had passed and now all we could do was go along with our night, awkwardly. I was in love with y/n, but there's nothing I can do about it.

Time skip to the next day at school, present time

y/n pov

As I walk into school the next morning I can't help but notice everyones eyes on me, I had to leave school early yesterday because Kyler had shattered my glasses and I wasn't going to be able to see anything without them. Today I had my new glasses on, that my mom had to pay for out of pocket. I was dreading going to school, more than usual, because just the day before I'd been humiliated in front of the whole school. Practically everyone was laughing at me and that is not a good feeling. The worst part about the whole thing was Hawks laughter, the way he seemed like he couldn't care less. I was always there for him when things like this happened to him, but now that he's popular our friendship means nothing to him. Or what could have been a relationship.

Once I reach my locker i grab all my stuff to get ready for class, I've decided on carrying around another bag to hold my books so that the chance of assholes like Kyler slamming them to the floor are low. I was a little scared to head to class but I had to toughen up and do it. As I'm coming back to my senses I grab all my stuff, shut my locker and quickly turn around. Out of nowhere I see a particular boy with a red mohawk run up in front of me and snatch the glasses off of my face.

It takes me a second to register but as soon as I do I become furious.

"Are you kidding me Eli!" I practically yell.

"Its Hawk, sweetheart" he responds with a smirk.

"Does it look like I give a fuck". I could barely see anything, at this point I was just screaming.

"Look at this freak" I hear Kyler chuckle.

"You know Eli, I really thought you were my friends, and I really thought you were a good person. But you're not, you're disgusting" I spit back, getting ready to run out, with or with out my glasses. I see that Hawk was holding them so I run up to them, carefully snatch them away from him, and make my way to the girls restroom.

"y/n wait up" I hear someone say, unfortunately the voice is all too familiar.

"What do you want?".

"I didn't mean any of what I just did, I promise. Can we just leave it in the past?".

"What? You were just the biggest jerk to me and now you're asking me to pretend it never happened. Bullshit" I spit.

"Im sorry".

"The worst part about this whole thing was that it thought I really liked you, Eli, but you've shown your true colors. Don't talk to me anymore" I confess.

"Like me? what about Demetri?" he asks.

"What about him?".

"I thought you guys had a thing" he says.

"A thing, are you kidding me Hawk. I've liked you since elementary school and then you became a huge asshole, and now you think me and Demetri are dating or whatever. Just leave me alone!".

"Y/n, I've liked you since the first day we met. All I've ever wanted was you. No matter how much I tried to push it away, its always been you. please don't walk away from me" Hawk admits. I'm stunned by his confession, it's almost to good believe. Like it's all one stupid prank him and Kyler have been working on.

"Are you serious?" I ask.

"Yes, are you mad?" he mumbles.

"Well no, but if you liked me why would you leave me in the dust for popularity?".

"I thought maybe if I became popular I wouldn't have to deal with the bullies and it would let me escape my feelings for you" Hawk tells me. "y/n, please take me back, I never stopped liking you, and I don't plan on it any time soon".

The space between me and Hawk is decreasing by the second. I was so confused. I wanted him, no doubt, but I couldn't just let him in again.

"Hold on" I say. "We can try this out, whatever this is between me and you, as long as you promise to leave your asshole tendencies in the past".

"If thats all it takes to have you then yes, I'd do it over and over again" he smiles. Without even thinking I smash my lips against his. Its long over due but perfect.

"I'm sorry, really sorry" hawk says aw we break away for air.

"I forgive you, binary boyfriend" I giggle before quickly closing the gap between our lips for the second time today.
