TW- ABUSE AND SOME VIOLENCE.

"ok so boys you'll go with Vinnie and I'll go with the girls and then we can all meet back up at the food court at 3!"  

"ok, that sounds like a plan!" Vinnie replied. he swiftly leaned over to me kissing me gently on the lips earning various sounds of disgusts from the kids.  

"get a room, you guys." Cairo, our youngest son (14) teased.

"oh to be old and in love." Willow, our oldest daughter (17) added dramatically.

"Hey we're not that old," Vinnie said as Niko (female, 15) and Jordan (male, 16) laughed. we chatted for a bit longer making sure everybody knew the plan thoroughly and what to do if anyone got lost. once everyone was on the same page Vinnie and the boys made their way to their first destination.

the girls had decided that they wanted to go to h&m first so we made our way there. I was trying to enjoy myself as I shopped with my daughters but I couldn't shake the feeling that I was being followed. luckily Willow and Niko didn't notice since they were too busy gushing over all the cute clothes they saw. eventually, I told myself that I was being paranoid and started shopping around and began actually enjoying myself. after h&m we made our way through the crowded mall to urban outfitters. I felt claustrophobic surrounded by all the people pushing around us and the feeling of being followed returned. finally, we reached urban outfitters and to our luck, it was pretty empty. but I still felt unsettled and wanted to head to the bathroom to compose myself.

"hey, willow? Niko?" I called the girls who were enthusiastically shopping. "I'm gonna head to the bathroom for a minute. I'm trusting you guys to stay here and if I'm not back in 15 minutes call Vinnie."

"ok!" the girls said in unison, as they resumed their shopping. as I left the store, I realized maybe it wasn't the smartest idea to go alone. an uneasy feeling ran through my body as I made my way to the restroom. the feeling of being followed was so much more prominent now. it was like I could feel someone breathing down my neck, waiting to snatch me up at any moment. i reached the bathroom, hoping to find someone else there so i wouldn't be alone but to my dismay it was empty. i stood in front of a mirror, breathing in and out, trying to get my nerves to settle. i realized i had been in the bathroom for too long so i turned to the door to return back to the girls when the door suddenly swung open and my heart dropped to my feet when i saw who entered. kai, my abusive ex stood before me a sinister smirk on his lips.

"y'know i thought you would've noticed i was following you but classic y/n. too self-absorbed to notice anything but herself." he spat.

"k-kai. you need to l-leave now." i stammered trying to stay strong as terror coursed through my veins. he slowly stepped closer to me observing my trembling body. my body was telling me to run but i was frozen in my place as memories of kai's abuse ran through my mind.

flashback

"y/nnnn!" kai shouted as he entered the house. my blood ran cold as i heard his footsteps get closer to where i sat on the couch. i looked away from the tv to see a drunken kai swaying toward me menacingly. "you know i love you, right baby?" he questioned me gripping my jaw aggressively. i nodded fearfully wondering if he was going to hit me.

"USE YOUR WORDS BITCH!" he commanded.

"I know you love me kai." I whispered as tears began to roll down my cheeks.

"good. so you'll forgive me for this." in one fluid movement he ripped his hand away from my jaw and slapped me across the face sending me back against the couch. my cheek stung and my tears ran freely as kai peered at me over the side of the couch. "you're so pathetic." he mumbled before stumbling away to get more alcohol.

"aww. look at you too scared to even move. i bet you wish your dickhead husband was here don't you?" i gasped realizing that kai had been stalking me for quite a while. after escaping his abuse i had moved far away and fell in love with and married vinnie. i had cut off all ties with him but he had tracked me down. this meeting wasn't a coincidence it was planned.

"i- how d-did you?" i stammered shaking in fear.

"use your words y/nn." kai taunted as he got even closer to me.

"i- i-." terror enveloped me as kai stood inches away from my face.

"i think i should teach you a lesson bitch."

*switch to willow pov*

i glanced at the entrance of the store realizing it had been 15 minutes and y/n wasn't back. i quickly called vinnie as worry filled my body.

"vinnie you need to come quick!" i blurted out.

"whats wrong willow?"

"y/n! she disappeared! she said she was going to the bathroom but she never came back!"

"the boys are on the other side of the mall so it'll take us a minute to get to you so just stay where you are." he hung up the phone and worry filled me as i realized that they might not make it here fast enough.

"niko. you stay here. if vinnie asks where i went tell him i went looking for y/n." niko nodded obediently and i raced down to the bathrooms. i reached the door and heard the single most terrifying words in my life. "i think is should teach you a lesson bitch."

*back to y/n pov*

as kai got even closer to me the door burst open and willow ran in.

"get the fuck away from her!" she demanded. kai turned around confused, before panicking realizing that he had been caught.

"i wasn't doing anything." he gushed trying to make himself sound innocent. "i was just trying to have a conversation with her."

"a conversation in the woman's bathroom. yea like that's totally believable." willow said sarcastically, rolling her eyes. "get the fuck away from my mom before i cut your dick off and feed it to you." kai hung his head and chuckled pathetically before turning and lunging at me with a knife that appeared out of nowhere. my fight or flight immediately kicked in and i jumped out of the way and ran to willow to protect her. for the third time the door swung open and there stood vinnie looking worried sick but when he saw kai and the knife rage took over him.

"why the fuck are you pointing a knife at my wife and daughter?" vinnie shouted taking one big step towards kai and punching him so hard he fell to the ground. the knife fell out of his hand and hit the ground with a sharp clang. for the final time the door swung open and there stood a police officer (who had been called because there were people fighting in the women's bathroom), niko, cairo, and jordan. the officer quickly assessed the situation and took kai away who had a warrant out for his arrest for several counts of assault and robbery. another officer arrived and quickly questioned us and then left.

my family and i made our way to the food court and just sat there for a second allowing all of us to gain out composure.

"i love you guys so much." i said looking at my family. "without you guys i wouldn't have been able to get out of there."

"we would do anything for you mom." willow said affectionately. the other kids agreed.

"we love you too much to let anything bad happen to you" vinnie said as he pulled me into his arms and pressing a kiss on my head. the kids joined the hug making me feel safe and protected by my big happy family.
