Venable's pov

Her intelligence was unparalleled to the rest of the inhabitants of the outpost. Probably unmatched to anyone I'd ever met especially on literature, she was always in the library. "I was a little worried to watch the movie since the book was really good. I think that the chemistry and relationship between Cate and Rooney really made the film shine. I don't really have a favorite but if I had to choose... I would probably say the movie as it had a more positive outlook compared to the book. But the book was more realistic in terms of the forces that were opposing to their relationship. Pretty much everyone was rooting against them... Harge, the lawyers, society as a whole" I said.
She looked at me, slightly amused for a moment but then her face relaxed again. "I like the book more, the tragedy of it all is what makes it a great story. They knew, well at least Carol knew, that when they began to even consider a relationship that it would never end well..." she started, it seemed as though she just wanted to disagree with me. "However, I did like the addition of Abby in the movie, showing more of Carol's life before Therese. I loved the scene where Abby and Carol are in the restaurant just before Carol is set to leave. Abby said 'please tell me you know what you're doing' and Carol looks up slowly to say 'I don't... I never did' while smiling at her.

It just goes to show that she'd tried it before and it didn't work. It leaves it up to the interpretation of the audience as to wether she knew it was over before it started, or if she really had hope that it was going to work." She said looking back towards the book. I thought for a moment, hanging on every word she spoke.

What the hell was that? I thought.

Your pov

"I think I audibly gasped, I looked around and tried to inconspicuously check if this was real. I sighed in relief when I realized I was actually back. What was that? I almost freaked out because it all felt so real.

I looked up at the beautiful woman in front of me and it all came flooding back. I loved her. I still love her, with every bone, ever breath, every cell in my body. I didn't need any more reason. It seemed like she was deep in thought too... The barista called her name multiple times and she didn't answer.

She was looking at me but seemed to be somewhere else entirely 'Wilhelmina!' I yelled but still tried to be quiet. 'Huh?' She replied confused.

I pointed towards the counter and she got up to get her coffee. She sat back down and we just looked at each other for a moment. Not saying anything, just enjoying the comfortable silence.

'Did you...?' I started but didn't even know how to explain. As if she could read my mind she said 'yes' and I think we both knew then." As I finished telling the story at our wedding reception I looked over at my wife and smiled.

She looked back at me with nothing but love in her eyes. Some of the guests had tears in their eyes and others just looked plain confused. We didn't care. We just looked at each other and were glad we found each other again.

It was fate.
