"It's gotta be you
When you walked away my
Heart tried to replace ya
With someone like you
But I can never find it
I don't want to fight it
It's gotta be you"

The hunt for Lucifer went wrong. Jo and Ellen had sacrificed themselves to save everyone's lives. Sam had let Lucifer in and the Angels were behind Dean to agree to Michael.

"It is your destiny." They had warned him.

The final showdown took place at Lawrence, Kansas. The Hunters knew that they had to put down Lucifer, but they couldn't risk Sam's life. Everyone loved him and needed to save him.

Sam and Dean's step-brother Adam had agreed to let Michael in and was present at the cemetery. Lucifer and Michael started fighting each other.

Lucifer killed Bobby and Castiel at the snap of his fingers but had spared Dean and Willow to see them withering to save the world. He needed fun of his own and hurt Willow physically as well as emotionally. He tried to tell her that Sam had never really loved her and that they were just dust in the passage of time.

Lucifer fought Dean but something came over him and Sam had taken control of his body. Dean and Willow, who lay wounded on the ground could see Sam coming back.

"Sam!" Michael shouted. "It's not going to end this way. Step back." He ordered as Sam stood near the entrance to the Cage in Hell.

"Gonna have to make me!" Sam screamed.

"I have to fight my brother, Sam!" Michael persisted. "Here and now. It's my destiny."

Sam forced himself to look at Dean. He couldn't disappoint his elder brother anymore. He looked at Willow. He couldn't betray her anymore.

So, with a quick movement, Sam pushed Michael through the portal on the ground. He could feel Lucifer trying to take control. Sam knew what he had to do. He looked at Willow as she tried to lift her head. "I love you." He said for the first time in his life and knew that he should have told her that much earlier. He closed his eyes and took a leap off of Earth.

The speed of the wind started to die. "No!" Willow screamed as she looked at the portal close. She tried to move closer to it, wanting to say a million things but Castiel, who was revived after Lucifer left the face of the planet, pulled her back and mended her wounds.

Castiel touched Dean's forehead with two fingers and healed him. "No." Dean whimpered, not wanting to accept that his brother was no more. He got up and walked over the where Willow sat crying on her knees. He put a hand to her shoulder.

"I never told him." She cried out. "It was always him."
