"Brings back a lot of memories, huh? All bad." Ben murmured as you all came to stand in front of the familiar, run down well where everything had seemed to go wrong all those years ago.

You whimpered when the memories of your fight with Henry flooded your mind, and you leaned into Bill for support. He wrapped his hand in yours reassuringly.

"Try not to think about it." Bev assured you, as if she knew what you were thinking.

The group of you ended up making your way down the well with much discomfort, mentally and physically. You were pretty much silent, other then mumbling profanities and reassuring messages to each other. You'd lost track of how many times Richie had mumbled "Oh, fuck this." Under his breath as he made his way down.

You crawled out of the familiar crevis where you had sat with your friends when you were just kids. It felt so weird to be back here, to a place you'd told yourself all those years ago you'd never return to. But considering the circumstances, you were glad you were here with your friends.

The sounds of rats squeaking and your friend's complaints echoed through the sewer as you stepped out of the pipe behind Richie. You felt the boots you'd borrowed from Beverly get drenched with the disgusting water- what had Eddie called it? Oh, 'Gray-water'.

You'd followed your friends through various passageways, your feet sloshing in the water. You tried not to think about what was in it as you walked as quickly as you could to keep up with Bill's long strides.

When you spotted the familiar opening that you'd found Beverly in years ago, you took a sharp intake of air. This time, instead of having a dry floor, the space was filled with water- and from how deep it looked, you didn't know whether you'd be able to touch the bottom.

"Shit. This is it." Ben spoke to the group, earning a few soft groans. "This is where it happened."

No one replied to him. After preparing yourselves mentally and physically, the group of exchanged some scared looks, before sinking yourselves into the water.

It was cold, just like you'd expected, and it went up to just above your chest- not as deep as you first thought. That's good.

You started following your friends as they made their way to where- what looked like a boat- was tipped upside down on a pile of trash, holding it up. The bottom of it made a perfect platform area.

When you finally made it to the platform, Bill grabbed your hands and helped hoist you up. You continued to help your friends get up- until you heard Ben call out to Beverly questioningly. She was standing still in the water just a meter or so away from you, shining her flashlight into the sewers- way you had come.

"I thought I heard something." Was all she said, before starting to walk towards you again.

You fell backwards from the edge when a creature suddenly emerged from the water in front of her, grabbing at her face.

Beverly began letting out screams and fighting against the creature- who was an extremely tall woman, with a distorted face. The sight terrified you and you shuffled back towards the middle of the pile, away from the creature.

"Time to sink." The creature hissed, before it pulled Bev underneath the surface with her.

You weren't sure what you were doing, because suddenly, you were standing and leaping into the water.

Beverly had been one of your best friends- she'd do the same for you. You couldn't imagine a world without the gorgeous redhead.

You heard your friends jump in after you, and when you hit the water, your hearing went out. You could hear bubbling screams from Bev, but it was pitch black underwater- you couldn't see a thing.

So you began reaching out blindly- you swam forward, backwards, around- as quickly as you could. You were running out of breath.

And just when you felt all hope was lost-

You felt her fingertips brush against your very own.

You grabbed her hand, attempting to yank her from the creature's grasp. Your chest and nose were burning and you knew you would drown if you didn't get a breath of air soon. Beverly began helping you in your efforts, and you both collectively started kicking at the creature as hard as you could.

This caused the creature to let go from it's grasp on her legs, and you both swam up to the surface as quickly as you could. You felt yourself feel fainter and fainter the closer you got to the surface.

When you broke from the water, you gasped for air as Beverly did the same. She didn't hesitate before wrapping you in one of the tightest hugs you'd ever experienced.

"Thank you. Thank you. Thank you." She was murmuring it like a prayer into your ear.

When you let go of her with a reassuring smile on your face, the men around you rushed to your side in the water once they realized you had gotten her. They spent the next few minutes getting the two of you onto the platform and out of the water.

And once you were all settled, Richie asked the dying question.

"Mike. Where do we go from here?"

---

You stood, shivering slightly, in between Bill and Ben as Mike had instructed you. You were all circled around a carving of some sort of symbol in the floor of the platform- it had been there when you first entered.

"In the depths is where It crept. In the beneath, to find relief." Mike was chanting over and over as you stood there, watching him, a feeling of worry for his mental wellbeing.

"Is he okay?" You heard Ben whisper.

"I think at this point, that's a relative question." Richie whispered back, and you resisted the urge to roll your eyes.

"What's on the other side?" A shivering Beverly asked, arms wrapped around herself. Mike looked up at her.

"I don't know. No one does."

Before any of you could reply to him, he leaned down. He reached his finger underneath the symbol on the floor, opening up a trapdoor you hadn't been able to see. The group let out startled yells as he dropped to his knees, shining his flashlight into the hole. From the glimpse you saw, it resembled the inside of a well.

"Mike, don't." Richie tried, but he ignored him, moving to sit on the edge of the hole.

"All right." He barely hesitated. "See you all down there."

You watched as he let himself fall down the hole, the group letting out rushed yells of his name around you. Your voice was caught in your throat, and you couldn't do anything but watch as he caught himself on a stone, and began hoisting himself down carefully.

The remaining group wore terrified and hesitant expressions, but you knew you couldn't let him go down there alone.

"Stay together." Bill reminded you all, before he carefully began copying Mike's actions- but with a lot more uncertainty.

You let out uncomfortable sounds every time he lost his balance, but once he found a good rhythm of moving down the rocks, you felt a little bit better.

After he made sure the way was safe, Bill motioned for you to come to him. With shaky legs, you dropped down to a sitting position, your legs hanging over the edge.

You could feel a lump of terror rising deep in your gut, and you knew your claustrophobia wasn't going to like this. You tried to convince yourself that somehow, this was just like the rabbit hole from Alice in Wonderland. You'd be fine.

Just climb down the rabbit hole.

But just as you were about to drop down into the darkness, you heard Eddie let out a whimper. When you looked up at him, he was shaking his head back and forth.

"You guys, I can't do it." He murmured, shaking his head. "I can't. You saw what happened up there, I was just gonna let you die. I just fucking froze up. If you let me go down there with you, I'm gonna get us all killed."

He tried to take a puff of his inhaler, but Richie stepped in front of him and began wrestling it away from him.

"Hey, hey, give me that." He practically growled.

"Richie-"

"Give it to me."

"Let go, you little turd." Eddie hissed, out of breath from the much stronger man who was still trying to wrestle the thing away. The two continued to wrestle, but as expected, Richie ended up finally wrenching the thing away from him.

"Listen to me." He said after a moment of catching his breath. "You had a moment. Fine. But who killed a psychopathic clown before he was 14?"

Eddie paused for a moment, his face scrunching up with an uncomfortable expression. "Me."

"Who got stabbed by a knife, then got it yanked out of his own face?"

You cringed at the wording choices.

"Also me."

"Who married a woman 10 times his own body mass?"

A look of determination was slowly making it's way onto Eddie's features. "Me. I did."

Richie let a smile slip onto his face- a genuine one he'd only ever saved for Eddie. "You're braver then you think."

Eddie smiled a warm smile back, before he seemed to remember the circumstances, and his face dropped.
"Yeah, thanks, Rich."
