Anyways, onto the chapter!!!!!

It All Started With a Text....

Chapter Thirteen

It was silent for about three seconds. Then, it was chaos. After about ten seconds of it, Linda whistled sharply.

"Calm down! We are leaving on Saturday, and nationals this year is in Florida. We are taking our remix cheer, and that's it; we are only allowed to take one cheer. We're performing Monday, and we are leaving early Tuesday. All Sunday is used for practices. Got it?"

We all nodded, and resumed our excited talking. I asked, "Are we having extra practices?"

"Yes, actually. Thursday from four to eight. Saturday from eight to ten, and we will ride to the airport together from school. I already have the flights and hotels booked. Now, you are dismissed."

We all changed and grabbed our bags before our dates showed up. I gave Josh a kiss and told him all about nationals over our dinner. We hung out until eight, and then he kissed me as my mom came and picked me up.

I told her all about nationals, and then we went and picked up Karla from her date, and then we did our homework quickly.

"Are you excited for nationals?" I asked, tapping my pencil against my notebook.

"Oh my gosh, yes! It is going to be awesome!" she replied, shoving her stuff in her backpack.

We chatted until we eventually fell asleep on my bed at three in the morning. So we were a little shocked when my alarm blared in my ear the next morning.

I sat up and tumbled out of bed. "Ow," I groaned. My shoulder suddenly started to hurt.

"What?" Karla asked sleepily, darting up.

"Get my mom, I think I hurt my shoulder," I said, clutching my right shoulder.

She got my mom, who ran up quickly. "Karla, you dislocated it. You have to get it popped back in. Want me to do it?"

I nodded, gritting my teeth. Five seconds of pain later, my shoulder was fine. I was left alone to get dressed, so I threw on a pretty blue and purple sundress, and some black sandals.

I curled my hair and pinned my bangs back, and put on some makeup. Then I grabbed my backpack and started hurrying down the stairs. I suddenly tripped and went clattering down the stairs.

"Alex- what on earth?" Mom exclaimed, helping me up gently, my left ankle wobbling. "Are you okay?"

"I rolled my ankle," I replied, grimacing as my mom rolled it.

"It's going to be a bad day," she told me, which I grinned a little at. "Did it twist, or pop, or crack?"

"Popped," I replied, and saw Karla running down the hall and tripping over the open closet door, and going flying in the air and landing on her ankle.

"Karla!" I exclaimed.

"My ankle popped," she said, scrunching her eyebrows together.

"You both sprained your ankles!" my mom exclaimed.

"What?" we shrieked in one voice.

"No, no! Nationals are right around the corner, we can't miss anything!" I rambled.

"If you don't cheer or dance on it today and tomorrow, and keep it in a brace, you will be fine. I'll email your coaches and tell them what happened. Go ahead and wrap your ankles. I'll get you some food while you do that." Mom said, going into the kitchen and returning with two Ace bandages.

I wrapped my ankle carefully, and then put some ice on it.

"Good thing we have an hour before school, we can keep ice on it," Karla told me, attempting to make light of the situation at hand.

"Yeah, but no excercise for two days!" I said. "That's bad!"

Karla's eyes glazed over. "Stop thinking like that. You are not fat, you're skinny! Okay?"

I nodded meekly, but merely picked at an apple for breakfast. Karla glared at me, so I ate a piece of toast. "Happy?"

She nodded and my mom then got us in the car and dropped us off at school. We limped into our homeroom, and then we both chilled out by our desks' until the bell rang that said we could go to math. I groaned and stood up, carefully walking to my class.

"Man, do I hate being injured," I complained, sitting down at my desk and getting out my book and notebook, dutifully checking last nights homework and starting on tonight's.

Josh came up to me and gave me a peck on the cheek when Mr. Spier wasn't looking. "What happened to your ankle? And yours, Karla?"

Grinning sheepishl, I replied, "Uh, we both fell down the stairs today."

"Can you dance and stuff?"

"Not today, and we have nationals this weekend!"

Josh laughed at my whining and took a seat at the desk next to me. Parker started talking to Karla, and I rushed through the math work, so I could talk to Josh.

As soon as the bell rang to let us go to Chemistry, I bolted to my locker, grabbing my binder and huge text book. Karla and I limped to the room together and took our seats next to each other in the front.

"Okay, class, today is a pop quiz! This is a review of what we have been learning the last couple weeks. Depending on how the entire class does, this may or may not be a grade. If the average is a B or higher, then it will be a grade. If not, then it won't be. Now, get to it. It will take you at least a half hour," Ms. Sanders said brightly, listening to us all groan.

I grabbed my paper and started writing in the answers to questions. I was done in fifteen minutes, and I handed it to Ms. Sanders before pulling out my text book and reading some of the chapter we are learning about.

When class was finally over, Karla and I unwillingly went to choir, knowing that we would have to sit out. While everyone was practicing on the stage, Karla and I sat on the chairs in front of the stage and talked.

After choir, we went to History and watched a boring video which lasted all hour. And when it was done, we got let out to lunch late, so we got like twenty minutes of lunch instead of half an hour.

And the cafeteria was all out of salad and pizza, so I had to have the disgusting taco's for lunch, which almost made me throw up.

And after gym and language arts, I was well and ready to go home and scream. Gym was playing basketball today, and since I had to sit out, I was on the bleachers and I got hit in the head with a basketball; and I had to get ice from the nurse and I had a bump on my head. Then in language arts, this kid accidently knocked his water bottle over and spilled it all over my text book. So, my text book is currently airing out in the room.

But it got a little better when we went to practice. Kayla let Karla and I look at the dances and costumes, and give her some feedback, so I didn't feel totally useless.

In cheer, Karla and I got to lead stretches and critique people on the cheer, since we were co-captians. When we got a break, Karla asked quietly, "Did you find out how sent you those text's yet?"

"No, I have no idea," I replied, shaking my head.

"We'll figure it out," she promised.

"I"m trying to figure out who hates me." I said, laughing.

"Let's start by making a list of people who dislike you for no reason. Starting with..."

"Mr. Brown!" I finished her sentence.

"Let's start with before you got the text."

"Cassandra and Maggie," I said immediately.

"Good. And Hailey, remember, she hates you for getting the dance part earlier this year." she added.

"I'm guessing that it's Cassandra and Maggie; but I can't know for sure." I said, thinking.

"We're going to have to find out somehow," Karla said, frustrated. "I just don't know how."

"But somehow, I'm guessing that they wouldn't do this at the same time," I said.

"Why?"

"Well, wouldn't it seem kind of obvious to me that it's them? They're like the only people that hate me. Maybe it's just some random person that I shouldn't be worried about."

"Finally! She gets it!" Karla whisper-shouted. "I've been telling you all along that you shouldn't be worried about it. I swear, we are going to find out who is doing this. But don't worry about anything they say, because they're just jealous."

She stood up and held out her hand to me, which I took and carefully stood up.

And like the two best friends we were, we went out of the gym together and to my mom's car.

And I knew that everything would work out in the end.
